Yes, the judges will be asked to be very brutally honest. If it or any factor of it wouldn't be built in real life, it's not getting in. The judges will also submit entries, if they enter, first so that they get no advantage.

I challenged myself to build something like Natster's Chew 2 without the long wedge in around 10-15 minutes. Result? Not horrific. I'll build something decent soon, don't worry.

SKBT won't be happy unless your bot is a box shaped wedge with nothing sticking out of it. Nevermind him.
Lol Nary. How often do you see a real bot with a long metal sheet sticking out in the front of it? The building style is called IRL for a reason. EDIT: Also, yes, the bot Natster built should obviously be a box-shaped wedge with nothing sticking out of it. *10 minute build later*

Reconstructed the chassis, made the body more slanted, added a heavier disc, and gave it another ant, Titanium 5 now

Better?
no.
it looks like a "i'm new to this ra2 thing and this robot technically meets the irl rules robot" it doesn't look realistic at all. it doesn't wedge very well and its stupidly long.
find a real life robot that looks like this design before entering it in an irl tournament. also take a look at some real bots before saying its irl because it meets the rules.
Your point is invalid: Featherweight: (Image removed from quote.) And just a link: http://robotwars.wikia.com/wiki/Argh!
That bot doesn't have a long metal sheet sticking out the front of it though.

It's cool, I think it's fair to continue to use this thread. As no actual entrants were removed, as long as the tournament retains its basic format, it's the same thing. Only for this circumstance though, don't get ideas people :P

You'd do better to enter something new and unshowcased so the judges don't know whose bot their looking at o:

« on: May 16, 2014, 10:15:30 AM »
You wouldn't know anyway. And unless the entrant makes it blatantly obvious who they are (as in by re-entering), the judge won't know who they're judging. The only person who will know is me, so I might not even judge to make it fair.

At the end of the day everyone has their preferences, but I don't think people should go around 'hating' other building styles. It's all part of RA2 history and unless you embrace that then THAT'S where you're doing RA2 wrong. Even Nary has built IRL. There is creativity in all styles, people just aim for the most efficient. It's the exact same in IRL, how many people enter bots with the prime objective of looking as real as possible rather than to win? Anyway, back on topic...

Yes, but not on this site as far as I'm aware - there's been a few RA2 forums, this became the main one many years ago when the official ones and AceUplink etc went down.

Yeah, Veteran is for people who've been here a long time, as the word 'Veteran' would imply. In fact there are some people who've been here for more than 5 years who still haven't got Vet. Also, Koss's notes on AU are pretty accurate. Check this page out, Jaydee. https://wiki.gametechmods.com/index.php?title=Post_Rank

Mass says 2 days left so get your bots in quick.
Did he? :P

If Wham ever re-appears to add to the pack, he will - that's the only reason the thread has 'died'. Bumping the thread with nothing to add won't make him return, and will probably only cause issues so I'd recommend against that in future :P

When have you ever seen a real bot that looks like that with a massive sheet sticking out of the front on a door hinge? :P

The aim of Playground was never for excessive spam and the section has done well in the past without it. There's more to life than excessive spam.

Your host score is only 1 so the next one wouldn't be Major League anyway, it's after you've run 3 that it goes up.

Surely you could use Frenzy.py? That uses an analog control named 'Hammer' and the smartzone 'whipzone'. It's basically whipper but with a spin motor, from what I can tell.

In an Episode of Simon Peggs episode a Robot Wars bot was seen. You mean Spaced? There was a whole episode on Robot Combat, had a fair few bot cameos in it too. Probably one of my favourite episodes.
