Tournament Archives / Re: BOTTALLICA!« on: May 21, 2014, 07:18:25 AM »
Thanks for your vote of confidence. Personally I know this tournament will fill. It's encouraging people to build IRL as truly IRL and not sub-DSL-S, but if that's not your thing then whatever, don't enter. I know a lot of people are actually happy about the increased restrictions after lots of really not very IRL bots sneaking into tournaments recently in the name of trying to win - the judges won't be rejecting true IRL bots.

Site News and Feedback / Re: Facebook links don't work.« on: May 21, 2014, 05:48:33 AM »
Just realized this is still an issue - I could fit mine in if I took off the http but then it won't actually go to the site and just links to a page on GTM.
I know it's hardly major, but... 3044

You still need that poll, because I don't know how long it's been since you did it last. I'll put it up and move this once it hits 8.

It's not just the spinners you gotta worry about, if people do turn up. Some of the FW axes are vicious.

I don't know, that's the judge's decision. And why risk it if you're worried about it being interpreted as that? Enter something you know will get accepted.

There's no reason to add batteries. I don't know why you want to add them so much :P
Add some decoration, if you have weight left, or improve the wheels. By the way, by chassis shrinking, I don't think Thy meant the height necessarily, more the size - you have a lot of unnecessary empty space, but it's good that you can get it invertable. 3048
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Jake Williamson's showcase of demises« on: May 20, 2014, 10:59:10 AM »
Easy fix for that - shrink the MASSIVE chassis down to the minimum as Thy suggested then have the wheels at the back. But still, you really need something in the gap at the end of your extenders over the disc in my opinion.

Personally I wouldn't add an ant or hypno teeth - I'd put something at the end of your axle supports (eg an axle or vertical extender) to make it look actually supportive.

RR AI? You sure that's the right one, Tommy? There was an RR AI released a few years ago that wasn't this.
Either way as long as you just click 'download' on those sites and not like 'download using our super software' or something there shouldn't be any bloatware whatsoever. EDIT: Yeah, see below. Just a case of not asking for the bloatware :P ![]() 3051

Jokebots are actually banned in the rules, judges can reject any wasted-entry bots.

Of course I want the Moon. The Moon is far superior to Earth. And it fits the bot.

Tournament Archives / Re: Mutations (again) - DSL MW Hybrid« on: May 19, 2014, 03:57:58 PM »
Also, I forgot, you have to run a poll asking if people will enter, and you need to get half your entry list in 'yes' votes before moving to signups.
And you really can't accept entries 'unofficially' but you're never one to follow the rules :P 3055
Tournament Archives / Re: Mutations (again) - DSL MW Hybrid« on: May 19, 2014, 02:24:17 PM »
That's not how this works and you know it :P
You have to show your definite entry and then let me know you want it moved to signups so I can adjust the relevant threads. EDIT: This makes no sense after Nar edited his post from 'This is now a signups thread' to 'This is ready for signups' 3056
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Jake Williamson's showcase of demises« on: May 19, 2014, 02:19:19 PM »
Okay... Interesting.
Firstly, you do not need all those batteries. 1 for each spin motor and an extra for good luck should you have the weight is sufficient. Use Multi-Extenders rather than Baseplate Anchors inside. Having the chassis tilted back like that will make steering worse than if it was straight - something to consider, you may want to move the motor up. The wheel choice is a bit meh but that's not major. Finally, if this is IRL, I'd never accept it into a tourney because that is a LOT of weight being supported by 2 very very thin steel sheets. If it wouldn't be done in real life, it's not IRL. 3057

Light Heavyweight sounds really dumb in my opinion, kinda just implies middleweight to those who have no idea about these things such as myself. I'm 90% sure when it was proposed a few years back the person who named it, I believe Joe, shared a reason.
