Funny how they seem to be the only decent mainstream rock band left these days. Tremonti is a damn good guitarist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b287N7bDc8g&feature=related# 2903

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Overrated bands/singers« on: December 01, 2011, 11:23:01 AM »I still have no idea whether Aliases is just as bad as Emmure or not.Aliases is way better than Emmure, but that really doesn't say much other than that it isn't utter bottom of the pile metal. They're probably better than all the deathcore other than Son of Aurelius, Hour Of Penance and Dying Fetus (IMO DF is leagues ahead in that respect and is a very good but extremely overrated band). It isn't really a SiKTh ripoff either as it features members of SiKTh :P 2906

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Overrated bands/singers« on: November 30, 2011, 02:11:46 PM »Metallica are gods and you are a blasphemer of their holy name.ololololol But really I find most of their work very drawn out and not nearly concise enough to keep my attention (Master Of Puppets is one example of an album with too many long songs on it (every song is over 5 minutes long and tracks like Disposable Heroes are extremely repetitive with bland riffs. Battery and Damage Inc. are the best and shortest tracks on the album.) 2908
Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Overrated bands/singers« on: November 30, 2011, 01:22:04 PM »Not too sure that you can apply the "overrated" label to relatively obscure bands with narrow fanbases. Even if they do hail said band as brilliant, that's more of appealing to a very distinct set of fans rather than being overrated IMO.I am aware of the fact that really I can't say bands like SiKth are really overrated. They are very specialist as you say, and really those bands (as in the ones Pwnator made note of) don't suck in any real way (other than Aliases). What's funny is that I prefer much of Hunters to their previous works. Yeah, generally the best thrash is from the second tier bands in the genre like Exodus, Testament, and so on. The German thrash big 4 (Kreator, Destruction, Sodom, Tankard) is pretty darn respectable too. And my god I hate Metallica too. They actually only have one good album (...And Justice For All), at least IMO. And yes, Mustaine was listed as the greatest guitar player in metal in that book. The only good players in the top ten were Trey Azagthoth, John Petrucci (who made no.2) and Chuck Schuldiner. All the actually decent players were stuck some place like 50-25. 2909

Anyway, NPCs (4 preferably, with vlads) should be used, and swap the battlepacks for 4 ants. Remove the steel extenders holding the weapons, and just stick the weapons strait on the piston. 2910

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Overrated bands/singers« on: November 30, 2011, 06:28:25 AM »No idea why SikTh, The Faceless, The Human Abstract and probably Born of Osiris are overrated, at least half of their songs are actually that good.Unfortunately, Emmure has fans. Somehow. The Faceless is definitely overrated. People really hail Planetary Duality as a brilliant album, but while it is indeed excellent it isn't amazing or revolutionary. I found Beyond Creations debut to be more fulfilling. Born Of Osiris isn't that great from my personal experience. Technical, but not amazing. I can understand the appeal, of course, but I dislike it. Sikth is okay but sits in the same territory as other proggressive core bands like Protest The Hero (who I forgot on my list), which generally means that it has advantages in time signatures but not in terms of originality with riffs and drums. That's pretty much the basis for me disliking a lot of core bands. Really, SiKth isn't particularly overrated IMO but I find that they aren't as good as they could be, and the mathcore aspect that is sometimes applied does not add to the music. Human Abstract is good but really suffers from being the least original in terms of playing out of the set you chose, and they tend to use chugged riffs in time with double bass drumming far too much. Well, at least they're all better than Aliases. Originality is a problem in terms of songwriting for those bands more than anything. While some examples are fairly memorable I found that too many are too technically focused. It's what keeps me from liking a lot of modern death metal as well; they simply take too much influence from other bands. Really that list is more of a joke anyway (well other than the deathcore examples). 2913

Suicide Silence, Whitechapel, Diskreet, Carnifex, Son Of Aurelius, Woe Of The Tyrants, Abysmal Dawn, Job For A Cowboy, Design The Skyline, As Blood Runs Black, My Bitter End, Sikth, Pathology, Annotations Of An Autopsy, Hour Of Penance, Discarnate, The Bridal Process, Chelsea Grin, The Last Felony, And Hell Followed With..., Nightshade, Oceano, Emmure, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Faceless (though not nearly as disgraceful as some of the others on this list), All Shall Perish, Divine Heresy, Bleed From Within, Dying Fetus (though probably the best band here and is more inspired than any of the others; more like Death-Grind rather than Death-Core), Miss May 1, The Eyes Of A Traitor, Trigger The Bloodshed, Hester Prynn, War Of Ages, Gwen Stacy, Oh-Sleeper, Sea Of Treachery, Your Demise, Misery Signals, It Dies Today, Destroy The Runner, Bury Your Dead, Goodbye To Freeway, The Human Obstract, Born Of Osiris, Veil Of Maya (named after a damn good song though the band sucks), Winds Of Plague, Within The Ruins, All That Remains, After The Burial, Benea Reach, Caliban, Dr.Acula, I Declare War, Killwitneydead, Bring Me The Horizon, Thy Art Is Murder, Impending Doom, The Red Shore, Attila, Salt The Wound, Greeley Estates, We Butter The Bread, Chimaira, Unearth, Shadows Fall, Parkway Drive, Darkest Hour, August Burns Red, Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, A Day To Remember, Adept, Escape The Fate, Underoath, Demon Hunter, DevilDriver, Haste The Day, We Came As Romans, Heaven Shall Burn, Times Of Grace, Kataklysm, Blinded Colony. All core of various forms. U mad, Skiit? ![]() Kill me for this but Iron MaidenSome of their stuff genuinely sucks (pretty much all their 90s output; Number of the Beast is also overrated, as is their most recent album). 2918
Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Overrated bands/singers« on: November 29, 2011, 10:50:26 AM »Metallica. And Slayer. Most thrash metal too. I don't really think "overrated" can be directly applied to "popular" music (like Bieber, Lady Gaga, etc.), but what really gets me is when guys like Hammett and Mustaine are christened among the "greatest" guitarests of all time. Dunno why, but this really bothers me, especially since I don't think their music is that good. What's funny is that I prefer much of Hunters to their previous works. And damn you for guessing what I was going to post :P But I would disagree with "Most Thrash Metal". While Metallica has been on the wain for a very long time and Slayer's best records are the ones nobody actually listens to (Seasons In The Abyss and South Of Heaven), I feel that bands like Testament, Exodus, Overkill, Kreator and Destruction (at least pre 2003 in the case of the latter) all have had a resurgence and are comparatively unknown compared to modern metal bands and all of them successfully mix melody(especially Testament) and technicality(especially Destruction). Then you have all those bands like Heathen, Toxik, Tankard, Metal Church and so on which are all extremely good (at least in my opinion; I know you're more of a sludge/doom/stoner kinda guy; I still dig the good Cathedral song occasionally :P) Couple of examples of the good end of thrash: And Mustaine and Hammett suck. Really, while I liked the former a while back I dislike how overrated they are compared to guitarists like Jeff Loomis or Rob Jarzombek. (@R0B0: Did you buy Joel McIver's book on the subject of best metal guitar players?) 2919

You definitely want more than copals on a standard shell spinner with big weapons like hammers.
I'd replace the self righter with a lighter component like a carbon fiber extender. 2920
