If it turns out that Flash Player isn't what is causing it, I would say it may be a lack of sufficient RAM.
If you have a lot of icons that open in the tray down by the clock on start-up, such as messengers or other unnecesary programs, go into each program and set them to not open when Windows starts. This would free up some RAM and should help.
If that's not it, the only thing you could do is upgrade your RAM. It isn't that hard to do, but depending on the type of RAM your machine takes, it may be a bit pricey.

This, but for just about every NES game that was released after the SNES. The later they were made, the harder they are to find, it seems. Same goes for Atari 2600 games.

Mine has an SD slot, but it's not SDHC compatible. It's irritating since my camera uses an SDHC card and I can never find the USB cable for it. My PC has slots for everything.

The first post of the thread gives the criteria of retro-gaming. And the PS2 is still in production... They still manufacture and sell consoles and one of the 2012 sports titles came out for it.
