I don't think it's as simple as a 1.5x buff, 2x buff, etc.
The way the burst motors are balanced, it integrates speed and power (both for firing and retracting), battery drain, and HP.
JX bursts are balanced for stronger retraction, less battery drain, and higher HP, which means less firing power. Which is probably the reason they are considered less good. I thought balancing the motors this way would make them useful for hammers, while the VDMA's are better for flippers, but it seems the VDMA's may just be better for everything.
I would suggest tweaking the balance more toward firing speed/power and adjusting battery drain or HP accordingly, rather than a flat buff, which could end up making them overpowered.
You know what, I really need to send you my balancing spreadsheet.
since click knows what he's talking about, i'll add this on:
we shouldn't be rushing to balance things without a good understanding of how they work or we'll just screw up things in another way
Amen.

Alright, I'm back, I had to stop the tournament because I moved to a new house, and the carpeting there I initially thought wouldn't work as an arena floor. However, I was wrong. Turns out, it CAN work, which means I don't need to build a wooden arena. All I have to do now is just rebuild the arena I had before and start this thing back up again. With that said, here's the long over-due results for Round 7 of the War of The Weapons final tournament: Debranator VS Blue Moose Winner: Blue Moose Blue Moose didn't even give Debranator a chance. He got under her first, and that was the end of it. He flipped her several times, at one point sticking her on the low arena wall, and then Blue Moose flipped Debranator Oota.
Pumpjack VS Nonja Winner: Nonja This was a tight fight. Near the beginning of the fight, Pumpjack attacked Nonja with his hammer, only for it to break off, as per usual. The rest of the fight was Nonja and Pumpjack charging at each other, Nonja getting flipped most of the time, and having to self-right. At one point, Pumpjack got high-centered on the arena wall. Nonja made the risky decision of freeing him so he could attack him more with his weapon . This didn't work so well at first, as Pumpjack rammed him into Mr.Psycho twice, and spent the rest of the match chasing Nonja. Nonja strategically avoided letting his weapon hit Pumpjack until it was at full speed, and he also had to maneuver away from Mr.Psycho. Eventually, the hits took their toll, and Pumpjack's right side was torn off. Later some of his back armor was destroyed. In the closing seconds, Nonja ripped off Pumpjack's top left armor panel. The fight then ended. This damage along with strategic driving won the fight for Nonja in a judges decision.
Ramminator VS La Machine Reborn Winner: Ramminator The opening seconds of this fight could've been the end. Ramminator charged at La Machine, getting on his wedge, before being flipped around, ending up high-centered on the arena wall. La Machine could've just left him there, but La Machine wanted more, so he freed him. He may as well have opened up Pandora's Box, because Ramminator responded with a flurry of hits and rams that lasted throughout the rest of the match. Occasionally, Ramminator would be flipped by La Machine, but it mostly consisted of Ramminator either hitting or driving over La Machine's wedge at high speed. The tide of the battle soon shifted once it became apparent that La Machine was suffering damage to his front. Eventually, his flipping mechanism came loose. Ramminator then finally administered damage and broke off some of La MAchine's armor whilst driving his spike through La Machine's arm. Ramminator then backed up and hit again, eventually getting high-centered on La Machine's wedge. La MAchine fired his flipper, only for it to nearly fall out, due to damage. The fight ended with Ramminator delivering the final blow, tearing off his opponent's flipping arm, and winning on a judges decision.
Dozer VS Silver Knight Winner: Dozer Dozer had a rough start this fight, Silver Knight continuously swatting him away and Dozer's lifting forks being nearly incapable of getting underneath him. It was basically just Dozer trying and failing to get any purchase for the first half of the match. However, eventually Dozer got his forks into Silver KNight's waist swivel, lifting up, and bisecting the knight, tearing him in half. Now just a slow, cumbersome, walkerbot base with no ground clearance, Dozer spent the other half of the match trying and mostly failing at getting underneath Silver Knight, only succeeding twice. The first time he did it he drove Silver Knight into the wall. The second time he lifted him Dozer actually succeeding in flipping him over. Dozer managed to just barely win the match by KO.
Triosk VS Yin-Yang Winner: Yin-Yang Triosk, as usual, didn't stand a chance. Yin-Yang's sit-n-spin attack tossed Triosk around, damaging his chassis and flipping him over. At one point he was nearly pinned to the wall, but managed to escape, only for one of his weapon support legs to be broken off. He took a few more hits until eventually catastrophically falling apart from chassis damage, everything falling apart.
Rhino VS Big Bad Biter Winner: Big Bad Biter The fight started off with Rhino knocking Big Bad Biter on his back, only for him to self-right using his srimech. Rhino's weaponry was useless against Big Bad Biter, who jammed his beak into a weak-point at the center of Rhino's weapon system, biting down and causing structural damage to Rhino's chassis. Rhino was let go, but got grabbed once again, and this time Big Bad Biter took him to Mr.Psycho, who caused severe critical damage to Rhino's chassis, dislodging his baseplate from his wedge and drive setup, collapsing internally. Big Bad Biter backed away as Rhino beat at Mr.Psycho's face with his axe, only to be lifted up, and have his control board fall out of his broken chassis. He was then tossed onto his back. Cease was called, but Mr.Psycho delivered a massive blow from his hammer onto Rhino's vulnerable under belly, smashing him to pieces.
Vice Grip VS Prowler Winner: Vice Grip Oh my god. This fight was SOOOO BOOORING. The whole fight consisted of Prowler climbing on top of Vice Gip and using his saw blade arm. Vice grip at one point nearly pulled off Prowler's front left tire. Vice Grip tried driving Prowler around, but Prowler escaped every time. The deciding factor of this match was when Prowler was tugging on Vice Grip's rear with his saw arm, until it eventually broke off, literally at the last second. This bit of damage sealed the deal.
Circuit Chipper VS Zerschlagen Winner: Circuit Chipper The fight was rather comical. Every time the spinners collided, Zerschlagen's weapon was stopped dead in it's tracks. Then it always spun right back up. Well, almost. While Zerschlagen's hammers were getting worn down, the real damage ensued when one hit knocked the weapon system and left side drive loose. Zerschlagen then just edged around helplessly, as Circuit Chipper tore off half his baseplate, before finally delivering the fatal hit that blew Zerschlagen to pieces, ending the match. I won't be putting up the fight brackets for next round JUST yet, I've gotta rebuild my arena first. I'll also be posting the mid-tournament battle-stats, listing how many wins and losses each bot has had so far. Please leave a comment below so that I know you, the audience, are still there. It's been a while. I'll see you all then!

Here's my stock replica of End Game. "I think we can take on Tombstone." Winner's high anyone? Anyway, this bot is going up on the BotExchange, like all my other replicas of this year.

Starting my preparations for Mech Madness 2. Will be entering a mixture of new builds, bots I built a while ago but haven't entered into a tournament yet, and veterans. Here's one of the new builds. Based somewhat on the chassis of my Deathmatch 2 entry but with major modifications which render it looking very little like it, this is Toreador. Beta burst for the flipper and 4 TWMR drives.

Here's a new thing that ended up being an SHW. Weird twin angled drum thing. Small drums because anything larger would clip with each other where they converge in the middle. Drive is 4 TWM3s which would be fine if this was an HW as planned but since it's an SHW it's not the quickest bot in the world. Drum motors are perm 132s so at least they have some power to them, and that red bit in the middle is a srimech powered by a medium VDMA.

Wow. That's one hell of an original design.

Saw there was exactly one stock tournament open for signups among a flood of DSL IRL. (That's Lightning S.'s Revolution 3 in case you couldn't tell.) Had to build something for it.

Here I have a perfect opportunity to arbitrarily switch to Roman numerals and call this "Drumblebee X"... but I'm taking the high road and sticking with 10. I did decide to change the traditional paint scheme though. The diagonal warning stripes were getting old. Bonus points if you know what bumble bee species the skin is based on.
Drumblebee 9 is OK, but it's kind of lacking in speed, and I always wanted to get 4WD on it. But how to make weight? I've tried 4WD Drumblebees in the past and they always turn out too fragile.
The answer turns out to be LESS RAZORZ. Drumblebee does not really need, and has never needed, 36 razors. The weapon motors always break before all the razors do. 24 is enough. With some caster optimization too, I fit in those extra 2 wheels AND an extra battery, which keeps it running at full power for the whole match and also helps with self-righting. The chassis is slightly more vulnerable with less caster coverage, but the extra speed makes it harder to hit, so it sort of balances out.
The drum is wider for better motor protection. At first I had the traditional 2 extenders in a row with more razors per extender, but that was too fragile. Even though this has less total razors than Drumblebee 9, it's overall more resilient.
Wedges are actually pretty good for once, so long as the weapon isn't spinning. Can out-wedge NWB and Hot Wheels head-on. (But not Backyard Gut-Ripper, the wedgiest bot I ever built.)
A standard stock robot with aesthetic value? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?!

Here's a thing. No actual clue what it's meant to be really. Perm 132 for the weapon, dual TWMR2s for drive. Twin slow mags for the srimechs
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
I love the chassis work on it.
hot
Thanks guys!
Here's another one. Speed Demon is probably one of my most successful bots but I still have ideas how to improve it. This is the result of those ideas: Speed Demon V.
Compared to the previous version it's upgraded in just about every aspect. Drive has increased from dual TWMR2s to dual NPC fasts, the weapon motor can no longer fall off incredibly easily, angled armour pieces have been added around the weapon axle to deflect HS hits, and a quicker, more reliable srimech powered by a Vsmall VDMA has been added.
Weapon motor is a perm 132, drive is 2 NPC fasts, srimech is powered by a Vsmall VDMA. Weight is 799.7KG

Beautiful. I have no clue how you're able to pump out so much skill in such short time.

Make better robots and you'll receive more comments.
nah, if you make good bots like he has been lately nobody comments, thats just how it works lol
Hard truth. I do like the Panic Attack sequel bot though.

Hi! I did Mecha Rampage! I think I could be more accurate with custom skinned parts but i sit on that version since two days so i call this a day. [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] It has a 4npc normal drive (Overkill, i know (See what i did there for a joke? xD)) and a 6mag motor inside the spinner. It has custom parts in it because that design is just too heavy so some plates are coloured lexan panels. xD Its a heavyweight btw and i did a middleweight version of that too! [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] Ok, thats all for today! Bye and have nice day! :3
Don't forget to like lol
Nice! I didn't know you were a replica builder! I must've forgotten.

Guys, I just made a CHEEEEZBUGGA! May not be as good as Arcane's (lighting makes it look terrible) but this one is actually under 800 KG, which means I can use it for the GTM Battlebots replica tournament. The weapon sucks too, just like the real thing! (Well, ok, the real thing can't get it's weapon to work right in the first place.) That's great, considering I might end up not being able to use Petunia or Gamma 9 due to the fact the use Razer Crusher Motors, which weren't greenlit for the tournament.

Me: Edit RGS2 Inner me: NO BUILD A ROBOT Me: oh okay then
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] Meet the Stinger Missile. A Bombshell-inspired 'bot with 4 different modular configurations to run for just about every scenario, with an axe, a cutting blade, a spinning bar and a clamp. Mostly happy with this one. ^_^
Awesome work! I didn't enter Robogames so I don't mind the bot.

ok. who is andy?
He is, I think, a permabanned user since 2015, for being toxic and hacking someone's account
Also, his account's name is HurricaneAndrew
Toxicity and multi-accounting
Ah yes. I remembered when he reappeared under the username of Shootingpost, acted in a toxic manor against certain users creations, and then created the infamous wiggle post before being banned again. Such was times.
Wiggle post? I never heard of that.

Tommy gets the points for the skin and non-exposed motors. Cringy gets the point for the weapon.
Tommy wins on a split decision.
Thanks. But mine actually DOES have exposed motors and stuff. They stick out of the chassis in Botlab, but are invisible in testing. The weapon I'm not too happy with, but it was the best I could do. The skin is based off of the Season 2 version of Razorback. By the way, my Razorback replica is on the BotExchange.
