You know my view on modern games?

Give me my 30-hour storylines back

Seriously, though. Radiant Historia, though it's the best game I've played in a LONG time, took me 15 hours to complete on my last run

That's why Final Fantasy games are good.
Not really; these days the characters are quite often agonizingly bad. I still like FF6 and earlier though.

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad
Oh, I actually like the looks of that.

I'm personally really quite centralised around the story in games. I hate spending time leveling up or going on fetchquests, so generally I avoid RPGs (I make exception to KOTOR and Mass Effect because Bioware  :gawe:). As a result I prefer more straightforward adventure games, although I like Metroid Prime due to having quite interesting exploring with enough enemies and varied enough environments to be fun; add the sense of isolation and it kicks ass atmospherically.

Ahh, that brings me to my next point. Metroid Prime 3 is my least favorite prime game. Skyward Sword was fine for me only once the story got enough momentum. This is mostly because of bland added characters, which tends to make me dislike Skyrim because none of the characters have much, uhh, character. Playing KOTOR 2 I found that the healthy bursts of sarcasm from Atton good and his backstory impressive, and so character development worked well; this applies for almost all the characters in KOTOR because they are all very different. In Skyrim I couldn't find great variation in character design which was a real turn off for me, so while it was pretty it was fairly underwhelming for me. Games with a sense of isolation build upon their own atmosphere and progress quicker, as well as encourage exploration. While Skyrim also does this I feel it does it less effectively. This also applies to games like CoD; I don't care about some stupid marines around me, I want to complete my objectives and score some decent kills while I do it, without being attacked by Kamikaze warriors too soon.

Simply put, gaming has broadened and broadened to an extent where development on each small area is growing scarce. It's actually quite nice that Skyward Sword had the sense of isolation while on the ground, that when you entered Erebus in Age Of Mythology you were instantly confronted by nothing but a huge battering ram, that Mass Effect 2 had great characters like Joker and that in KOTOR your only companions were quite so well developed . I just don't feel catered for anymore; the most recent game I liked was Uncharted 3, and that was both graphically amazing and a shooter, but it worked well because of the characters and the solid gameplay. I still dig old platformers because exploring was natural and wasn't such a stretch: I love Yoshi's Island and much newer games like Super Mario Galaxy (which benefitted from clear, organized structure and OH MY GOD THE MUSIC).

I agree with this article:

http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-reasons-modern-gaming-doesnt-suck-anti-rant/
I agree with it to an extent. I feel that gameplay these days is now more focused on customization or free roaming, neither of which greatly appeal to me. As for games like CoD they need more singleplayer development and less adjustment with their working online formulas, since there is nothing wrong with them mechanically.

**** CoD.

RO2 and Battlefield 3 are the ways to go.
I'm staying away from Battlefield 3 because of Origin, but whats "RO2"?

I seem to prefer it afterwards. They add an extra depth and jois de vĂvre, I reckon. There are a few militant bronies, I agree, but they're generallly a very pleasant bunch for the most part.
Indeed. I like the show and don't mind the bronies because the material almost never leaves the thread it's assigned to unless it could relevant in another.

Receiving AUship ranks highly for me. =D As does winning Total Annihilation, that surprised the hell out of me. And tearing through the LB of Clash Cubes IV. I still enjoy the regular debates about various things on the boards, though I'll admit madman probably deals with them a bit better than I do.

Definitely BTTB4 for me, especially considering it was my first tournament IIRC.

It looks like old game from 90's-80's,
The best games were all made in the late 90's and early 2000's :P
Some of them, yeah. :P

- Lego Racers
- Colin McRae Rally 2.0
- Hydro Thunder
- Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (Am I rite?)
- LieroXtreme
- GeneRally

etc. :P
No Ocarina of Time?
I don't even have no idea whatever that is.
WHAT?

No offense, but Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is something most people have heard of. I wouldn't say it's as good as most people say but it's definitely a great game.
Legend of Zelda? Pfft... No thanks.
Why? For all its reputation for being a kids game (which can be pretty laughable for those who've played either Majora's Mask or Twilight Princess) and its more casual fanbase it's a good game.

I agree with Kill beyond a certain point. When someone posts something which someone else doesn't like normally a few people start to claim that they disagree or find it offensive/immature/ignorant for whatever reason, but then more and more arrive and then there's basically a huge multi-page buildup of completely useless crap beyond those first couple of posts.

I am willing to show disagreement or say that I see fault in people, but no further. Beyond that point is neither necessary nor wanted by either me or the people on the receiving end. If it's a matter of self promotion I'm willing to deflate the balloon but never try and go too far.

Simply put people, constructive criticism points out fault and usually offers ways round it. When you get to insults or even a point put more forcefully than needed it loses its effectiveness and meaning. Piling up a huge number of responses doesn't help either.

yea gj guys
+1
Thanks! ^_^

1. Lol. I'm quite curious as to why you quoted my post rather than anyone else's.
2. Yes

There's way too much hate around here. I dislike it :(
Even towards people like Freeziez whose done nothing wrong (see people moaning in BB5 thread)...
My views on Freeziez is that he's a great member when he's contributing but he used to fall into states of confrontation. These days he has stopped and I respect him for being able to do that.

so has joe gone again?

yea gj guys
Seconded... Few hours ago I felt like I could leave too, because people barely give a crap about the stuff I do... (GTM Land - Gmod Edition, GTMWRC, GTM Monster Truck Challenge etc.)
How do you think I feel? I didn't win a single GTM award.
And all my awards were negative, why I should stay?

Seriously, I don't need this crap.
Because otherwise I'll burn down your house.

Seriously, we need people like you here for bot building and your tournaments.

I liek. Nothing I can say that would improve the bot but it's pretty solid to me. How's the feeder wedge?

Is it me or does this look like Conraaa's Miss America? =D

Lol, only just seen it. Yes, it does, but Turbine came first with this setup xD

The wedge? Well, its me, so its average and unreliable. :P
It will be interesting to see if the wedge will meet the same fate as Turbine's  :trollface

Looks good though, may suffer badly against better wedges because of all the exposed extender work at the back.

Hahaha. I dont get thrash metal. Its just a noise of drum, guitar, and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
:thumbup

Also, I bought Skyrim today. Accidentally. i have to say, the 1st half an hour that I've played so far isn't as fun as oblivion. D= Is there a Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim, or a guild that gives you assassination quests?

And I need to find an excuse to not go to a pool party. I hate pool parties.
Can you actually at least acknowledge my points about thrash? It may not be at all accessible but once you get used to heavier stuff there's some great melodies, riffs, and overall songs there.

Also, I agree with you on Skyrim. I have difficulty enjoying it when I don't have the momentum in terms of my characters strength. However, there is a dark brotherhood. I believe you do the same as in Oblivion, then a courier gives you a note.
=DDDD

Skyrim just got 10x better.
k cool
If you find thrash too heavy or whatever give some Metallica (early stuff, probably Master Of Puppets) or Judas Priest (Screaming For Vengeance, Stained Class, Defenders Of The Faith) a try, they're both pretty decent and moderately accessible.

Huh, people are getting building advisers. If anybody needs help or advice, imma here.
I NEED MINIONS, IDIOTIC MORTALS
But as everyone has been saying, the bot's pretty good. It's nice and concise, and quite well armed. Not the most original (this IS stock LW), but still good.
