Tournament Archives / Re: T.R.A.P.S - TheRoboteer's Amazingly Planned Scrimmage - SBV« on: November 24, 2017, 04:51:08 PM »
I knew that I should of found the time to finish off my bot in time before the deadline for sign-ups were closed. All well, at least I can sit back and see that most of the entries turn out to be a bit of mix bag of combat effectiveness, good looks and some unique designs.
I just Looked at All the bots and I can already tell Im BonnedPokebro14 don't think like that. Your bot may look like it's screwed, but you could be surprised that your bot could pull off a few upsets in the tournament in theory. Even if your entry doesn't win any one of it's matches, you still say that you made an effort and look back over your design for future improvements to future bots. 265

Well, that's what I call winning by doing absolutely nothing. Still, congratulation Dreamcast for winning the challenge title and hopefully next month's challenge belt will go a lot better!

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Nothing Exicting In GTM« on: November 20, 2017, 07:54:45 AM »In truth only 7 people entered Wen and a Damned War. But apart from me and the other six users, no one else decided to make a ra2cf stock SHW. Though often I do point to the main problem being that the large majority of this forum and it's users has more interest in DSL-IRL building most of the time, and when a Stock tournament does happen, it ends up being a Stock MW tournament because no one else has an interest in Stock building above MWs. I'm aware the last statement isn't 100% correct, knowing that some users still show more variety in bot building by building in other metas and Stock Weight classes, but this is what the forum has mainly descended into: DSL IRL building or Stock MW building for the better or worse on how you view the situation. Is this part of your art project?he did, and nobody entered. 267
DSL TC Showcases / Re: SagarisRA2 DSL/IRL Showcase« on: November 18, 2017, 12:48:56 PM »
I've forgot to say that sometimes, Steel armor isn't really worth it for a bot. Sure Steel armor especially Steel 10 provides plenty of protection, but steel armor uses up a lot of weight that could of gone towards better weaponry, more batteries or using more armor plates for outer protection. Some users often use stuff like Titanium 1, 5 or 10 or plastic 5 or 10. Not only those armors provide good protection, but you also have some spare weight to use up on what the weight could of gone to.

The armor plate work looks a little messy. Especially with the amount of gaps between armor plates that could filled in with longer or multiple plates. If have problem fitting the plates due to the game detecting part intersection, you should download the Serge Patcher if you haven't done so already. The Patcher comes with may tool that you may use for building including component intersection, that allows for parts like armor plates to intersect through other parts, without have the red "cannot place" outline over the part you're about to place. Just make sure that the part doesn't end up intersecting through any important parts like batteries or motors since doing so will be breaking IRL building rules.
Apart from that, you should listen to the TheRoboteer's advice to remove the snappers. Snappers may be handy on much lighter bots but for a Heavyweight, snappers/magmotors are not worth putting on. With 18kg left in your bot, you can add some more power into the bot by using VDMAs or burst pistons just the in the previous version of your bot. But it's a good starting point from your other bot, but it still needs a little more work on it. Also as one last question: what armor are you using on your bot by any chance? 269
Modifications / Re: DSL 2.2 OFFICIAL RELEASE« on: November 17, 2017, 02:22:52 PM »The reason is, is because if they are readonly or the game does not have permissions, how will the game put the bots in the folder?Badnik already answered the solution to this problem already in an earlier post and Sagaris already had the problem solved by now. So please don't post your solutions to problems, when the solution was already posted earlier. 270

A bit of a Noob question: Is there any other restrictions in terms of the build rules? Such as if we are allowed to use BFE or component freedom for this month?

I was meaning to say this but, well done to DSC for winning this month's BOTM. Though the results was close one between both you and PrivmevalMamba. I think that you did deserve to win.

Custom Components Showcase / Re: Pay Tribute With Replicas« on: November 05, 2017, 08:19:29 AM »
Looks pretty nice for the Frostbite replica with the skinned parts and overall design. Of course, I see that the replica is made to the full purpose of being as weak as the real bot itself.

Well, since all the photos have been properly uploaded and without the attachment system messing up, time for my verdicts.
1. That's some real slick 8 wheeled formula one racing car. Guessing by the extender work and the weight. Arcane was definitely behind this one. 2. We had a giraffe, we had a wheelchair and now we have a shopping trolley. Guessing that this will become a new-aged Artbot meme. 3. Guessing someone had to bring in their new-aged Wheelchairfu into BOTM and sticked the splash with Bertstip like memes and Vietnam flashbacks. Pretty much a meme fest like back in May's BOTM. 4. Pretty Generic. Apart from the flamethrower wedge, there's nothing really special. 5. Another Artbot, it well designed and well thought out. I might see this one getting a few votes in the poll. 6. After a wave of memes and well designed bots. We finally get to the SFTW of the month. With an overly large chassis, wasted drive motors and possibly most of its weight being put towards either steel armor and/or a ton of unnecessary batteries. This bot for me has no hope of winning my vote for those reasons, and also being a few days late for Halloween. 7. That's a very nice shell spinner, with the high weaponry and the use of Component freedom to allow a powerful weapon system. |
