What's wrong with Best New Tournament Host?
I drafted this up a few months back when we'd had basically 0 new hosts. Maybe it's worth keeping it around now.
Yeah, please keep it :P I have previously read why you want to remove favourite GTM staff member but I think it's a nice and pretty funny custom, especially if you keep winning it I also agree with Geice and RedAce on their points.

Tournament Format:
The weight class used will be Heavyweight.
The game mode will be Stock/DSL 2.2/Ironforge/Retooled, All the robots from each mode will be fighting each other. Don't even think about that other game. Yes, the one that starts with a R and ends with an 2 and has an R in the middle. I don't even want to type it for fear that someone will just skim the rules and see it and enter a R... ahem, a non-stock/dsl 2.2/ironforge/retooled bot.
You can use a bot of the multi kind.
Matches in BBEAMS7 will consist of whatever I see fit for the current matchup between the bots.
The bracket will be double elimination?
The matches will be fought in the BBEAMS Tournament Arena V2, maybe?
The match time will be randomized via the Match Time Randomizer 5000(tm) (In other words, the match time will chosen by 09 at his discretion.)
There are 16 entry slots. That sounds like a lot, but there were a few late entries that were left out in BBEAMS6, so don't wait too long!
Building Rules:
1. The only parts allowed on your bot are the parts that come with the game, which means any cheatbot2 parts that come with any of the listed mods above are allowed.
2. Your bot can be built entirely in the bot lab. That means you can use AAM or bot file editing.
3. Your bot is not required be to show controlled (not random) movement at any time during the match.
4. Your bot's AI can do things unrelated to driving or firing weapons, such as repair itself or apply force to the opponent. Restrictions may apply.
5. Glitches in the game (excluding random Havok explosions) may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.
Prizes won based on past BBEAMS: -Conraaa has the BBEAMS Blade and Champions Sword -Rob Collins has the BBEAMS Hammer and Champions Sword -yugitom has the Armoured Magmotor -Jonzu has the Stacked SuperVolt -Sage has the Stacked SuperVolt and Champion's sword -Badger has the Nifty 6V/ CB -Craig has the Armoured Magmotor -Geice has the BBEAMS Blade -Mr As has the BBEAMS Hammer -Naryar has the Champions Sword
My Entry: (Image removed from quote.)

Please, no questions, they will not be answered.
With extreme trepidation, this is now a signups topic and the rules quoted can't change. You've got 3 months.

You guys are seriously getting on my nerves with this. I swear I've warned you guys about this before. If it turns out I have, I'm just gonna dish out warnings because this 'debate' hasn't gone any further than pointless arguments and slight flaming. If this is the first verbal warning, then you've obviously been warned, now. The warnings I will start handing out after this incident will carry a lot more weight. To Badger (or anyone who does not like IRL), I absolutely understand your qualms with the abundance of tournaments which don't fit your fancy and I know that it may be frustrating if you want to enter some more tournaments. It seems you have taken Craaig's advice in a different thread and you've started your own tournament, which is definitely the best approach. Just try not discourage anyone from doing what they would like to do by saying "not IRL again" or insinuating that IRL building is for those that cannot actually build or anything along those lines. To Avalanche, I also understand your staunch support for DSL-IRL and I also understand why you are so passionate about defending it. However, please do not continue to make the DSL-S vs DSL-IRL thing a problem by getting into arguments with Badger. To DoT, stop saying 'muh meta'. To everyone else, do not attempt to make people try to do things simply because you are not a fan of what they are proposing. It's absolutely fine to express your disappointment in a post like Mechadino does all the time in a thread that isn't stock but this Wen please don't do IRL, you're too pure.
is not an appropriate response. There will start to be warnings being handed out if this continues because it never leads to useful debate and will result in a much larger flame war, at some point, and I don't want to go down that path. Let this be the end of it, let bygones be bygones and simply stay out of business that you don't want to concern yourself with. Sorry, Wen. Good luck with the rest of your tournament discussion :)

But no-one is forcing IRL builders to then play DSL-S. There are plenty of IRL tournaments coming and going that they can enter, instead.
But it would unfairly restrict them from being able to challenge a DSL-S DSL Champion, and vice versa.
It's not unfair. It's just DSL-S. Like I said, if you want to build IRL, you know what you're in for. It's either gonna be on the mantelpiece in your showcase or it's gonna be in an IRL tournament. No-one is doing IRL challenges in DSL, and especially not title ones.

I definitely don't think IRL should be a challenge title choice, tho. It will end up being the least IRL builder winning, tbh.

There's no point in this discussion. If anyone continues it, I will see it as flame bait.
@Any prospective host, do whatever you want and @everyone else, join whatever you like and ignore whatever you don't.

Those types of tournaments may simply not be allowed to contribute towards the league. Like I said before, there'd have to be a minimum quota that all tournaments would have to abide by if they wanted to contribute. League should be split by metagames and also any league tournament should have unlimited entries to make sure everybody has the chance to enter.
I agree but the problem would be that minor hosts would not be able to contribute to the league, in that case. That's another disincentive to even participate in a tournament run by a minor league host.

Anyone realize that this is not the real BBEANS title? BBEANS vs BBEAMS
This is a joke.
I have no idea what "BBEANS" is, it sounds like a bad ripoff of this tourney, sad!
Yeah, I mean, c'mon, BBEANS just sounds silly.

The hierarchy of tournaments you propose still doesn't solve the issue that people just won't want to enter minor league tournaments and, even if they did, I'd imagine that entries for said tournaments would be re-entries, as no-one wants to go to too much effort for a less meaningful tournament. I say leave major, minor, elite, whatever out of this, as that is simply the status of the host. The only reason minor and major hosts exists is so we know which hosts have experience and we can trust to get a tournament done. Leaving certain people in-charge of major tournaments over minor tournaments may make some hosts just give up trying.
I think that all tournaments should count for the same, perhaps possibly increasing the amount of points one could received from winning GTMCS, in order to increase turnout/keep turnout consistent.
I don't think the all-star thing is something that could be achieved because there'd just be too much going on in the tournament section by that point. This idea needs to be built around the current tournament system in order to increase tournament turnout. It shouldn't exist to create more high profile tournaments, as that is a different issue that can be easily solved (if we ever wanted more), especially considering how everyone was on-board for GTMCS.

You could also possibly get a cheeky ribbon (or something along those lines) next to your name kinda like how the winner of GTMCS will get. Prizes could be considered but I'd imagine ideas for prizes would run out fast and there'd have to be at least one for every metagame, especially if GTMCS goes on yearly.

It would be easier for a prospective host to simply ask me whether or not their tournament is okay to be considered for the league. Perhaps I could put a minimum quota for tournaments so gimmicky tournaments are exempt and people know what they have to do to get their tournament recognised for the league.

When it comes to worn-out memes, nobody serves them better. As this is my very first tournament, I’m in a prime position to get started with a bang by using the meme only I have the true ability to exploit in this fashion – let’s dig SFTW out of its grave and make it truly great again. First of all, I must point out that this is my first tournament to be hosted so if there's rules I'm missing or times where I am blatantly going against community consensus, let me know.
Stock unrealistic
Heavyweight up to 800.0kg
16 entries, single elimination
1 entry per person, although slow entries near the end of the signup period may see this rise to 2
Best of 3 battles
I will be able to AI but this is the first time I’m ever actually going to be doing it for a tournament like this – if your robot does something unbelievably stupid and unusual that a newbie like me simply cannot comprehend I reserve the right to ask you to do it yourself, and of course you’ll make things easier by sending the bindings anyway ( )
Byes filled by the original SFTW
Robots must be built off the original spinner from the west downloadable at https://gametechmods.com/Robot_Exchange/LW/wakkydude_Spinner%20from%20the%20west%20(T).bot, this means:
- The chassis must be kept the same
- All the original components (except the control board which I'll allow you to move) must be kept in place
- None of the original components actually have to be used usefully or be powered, but they must all still remain there
- You can add anything, of course, and use any kind of weapon you want
- Armor changes are allowed but reasons you'd want to do so are unknown to me, at least
- Effectively you can build anything as long as the original SFTW parts remain
- While obviously, your skin can be done externally, it has to be built on top of the original armour plating that we know all too well and must include some of that original skin underneath. I will be checking.
- Your robot's name has to be linked, in some way, to SFTW. It doesn't necessarily need to be in the same format, any assorted jokes that are related to it will be fine, but keep a clearly visible link there. I'm going to be fairly lenient on this rule as long as it's in the right spirit
Standard in-game glitch rules. Stacking, eFFe, loading allowed, you name it
No outside modifications at all, including BFE, Thyrus, and text editing.
No use of component freedom in any form.
Skinned components are okay but please actually send them to me in the correct format
No crawlers, this is a jank-free zone
Clusterbots are allowed but both must add up to the 800kg limit. If you can actually successfully pull this off and win a fight with it considering that the base robot is over 200kg, I will be impressed. You’ll win your own award.
Fighting will be on Mr AS' new SFTW Arena:
Havoks that KO a robot or otherwise are responsible for ending a fight will be restarted, but if a robot gets three round-ending havoks across the best of 3, it forfeits the fight
Battles are 3 minutes with timeout matches being decided on points
You will be able to upgrade your robot as many times as you want up to 24 hours after I announce I have accepted the last robot.
I will be entering with this.
You will have one month from the start of signups to get entries in, and you can’t enter until I have accepted your robot.
Okay, people. Tell me what I've missed or gotten blatantly wrong. Once everything's in check I will run the poll and remember, there's only 8 slots!
This is now a signups topic and the rules quoted may not change. You've got 3 months, enjoy :)

A very extremely similar idea like that came to my mind, however, if you make minor league tournaments worth less, it may decentivize people actually entering minor league tournaments. Although, I would like to do something like this. I'm happy to hear anyone's thoughts on this and possibly implement them in the future.
