Example battle in Robot Wars Extreme Destruction:
Battle

EDIT: You CAN disable the steam jets! Or, so it seems... have a look here:
Robot Wars arena file

262
Yes. They're a bit overdone.
Oh! I nearly forgot! In Robot Wars Arenas of Destruciton, you'll NEED to move the lumpy.dat and lumpy.idx to somewhere else, otherwise the game will read them first and skip your edited files!

EDIT: You WILL need to extract the entire lumpy.dat to somewhere on your hard drive and then move the contents of that folder back to the game's directory/folder.

263
Cool. Is there a way to disable the geysers in the arena?
Hmm... that's a more complex one, I guess... but now, in Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction there are no functioning geysers, so you must mean Robot Wars Extreme Destruction, right?

264
Just for fun... had a battle I made up myself by modifying the simple robot_list.txt file inside of the game directory, inside the "robots" folder. I edited the .txt file and wrote instead of all the robots available in the game, to "plunder". This activates ONLY Plunderbird 5 in the game!
(Image removed from quote.)

Nice one. Does this mean that you could disable all the fictional robots and just leave the replicas?
Sure can! Just make a robots.txt file, BUT it NEEDS to be in the game directory/folder, and in a sub-folder called "robots", without the quotation marks, of course ;)

265
Ahh right, thank you for your help pretty simple fix compared to some games :) I shall give this a try tonight :D
Have fun! :D

Existing Games / Re: Robot Wars Extreme Destruction DirectX error

Impossible343 is right, you set the setup.exe to compatibility mode "Windows XP" and then it works.

267
Yes there is :) You need to crack them. Just search for Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction and Robot Wars Extreme Destruction crack, and that'll solve the problem. I am running Windows 10 also, and it has issues with the copy protection of the disc (that requires the disc inserted when you start the game) and that's "half" broken in Windows 10. So, the only way to bypass this is by a no-cd crack :)

Sergeant Bash's front jaw is now operational as a second weapon, instead of the saw at the back.

You can see it in my House Robots Introduction, from Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction @ YouTube

Now when the new versions of the house robots for the 2016 series has been revealed... I'm just itching to recreate those versions as 3D models instead of the old one's. So, if anybody knows where to find reference images or, even better, plans/blueprints for the new designs, I'd be delighted

Instead of uploading gifs, convert the video files you record to webms via gfycat.com. Much smaller filesize and higher quality.
Acknowledged. It won't happen again

EDIT (2016-06-01): I will continue to use Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 to make my gifs, but I suppose I can reduce the file size to almost nothing.

Just found out that you DON'T have to repack the game archive (lumpy.dat) to get started modding! You just need to extract/unpack everything, place it in the game directory, and then proceed to delete the lumpy.dat & lumpy.idx

Now modeling the left half of Matilda.

274
The AI isn't always at the best of it's ability in this game

Six years and counting!!! XD Well... I will do the half of Matilda, and use the symmetry modifier to build the other half.

I'm one of the admins of a large fb group literally called Unofficial Robot Wars. :P

On a more relevant note, I have been informed of the existence of/r/robotarena3 which could be fun :L
Darn it...! Well, mine is more focused on the pullbacks. I think I'll rename my group to Skull Kid's Robot Wars instead ;)

I made an unofficial Robot Wars group on Facebook for anyone to join, if you wish

My two wishes for this game is the following: A boxed version, and that, if possible, somebody makes the house robots (all 8, excluding Refbot, and maybe Shove) for the game. If not, maybe I could somehow get my not-yet-existing models into the game, once they're modeled to 100% of course

279
I can't say I really miss something in my Robot Wars collection... but hey, that's a nice collection of rc versions of the house robots and Tornado :)

280
Wow... now who would buy all of the rc versions of the robot wars toys except Sergeant Bash for £800??? Way over my budget... PLUS I already got the best versions (ALL of the house robots pullbacks new and used ;))
