Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Your Favorite Bands
« on: February 26, 2012, 04:16:45 PM »
I use Spotify so while I like whole albums I don't really need to buy them.
To this day I only have a few albums (Sodom's Agent Orange and Exodus's Bonded By Blood being the best of them).

I'll sort mine by genre:
Thrash:
Municipal Waste
Warbringer
Voivod
Vektor
Toxik
Testament
Nasty Savage
Metal Church
Tourniquet (the only good christian band in existence)
Megadeth
Metallica
Anthrax
Kreator
Destruction
Overkill
Sodom
Tankard
Holy Moses (Finished With The Dogs may be the best teutonic thrash album ever)
Sadus
Exodus
Dark Angel
Razor
Sepultura (Arise and earlier ONLY)
Sacred Reich
Exhorder
Demolition Hammer (Epidemic Of Violence is THE best thrash album:
Human Dissection is pretty much THE extreme thrash anthem despite how un-anthemic it is)
Anacrusis
Heathen
Artillery
Holy Terror
Mekong Delta
Evile
Violator

Death Metal:
Fallujah
Beyond Creation
Gorgasm
Gorguts
Death (Human is quite easily their best album)
Morbid Angel
Suffocation
Fleshgod Apocalypse
Vader
Mithras
Disincarnate
Konkhra (or maybe just their first album, despite how bad the innuendo was)
Immolation (Close To A World Below is the best death metal album of all time, end of.
)
Necrophobic (debatably black metal but whatever)
Origin (sweeps man)
Quo Vadis
Cryptopsy
Spawn Of Possession
Baphomet
Incantation
Monstrosity
Benediction
Burning Inside
Seance
Yattering
Decapitated
Decrepit Birth
Brutality
Malevolent Creation

Prog metal/rock:
Rush
Zero Hour
Psychotic Waltz
Meshuggah
Watchtower
Control Denied
Spheric Universe Experience
Pathosray
Primus
Yes
Kansas (earwormed)
Mystery
Pallas
Savatage
Cynic
Spock's Beard
King's X

Alternative/New Wave/Post-Punk:
Radiohead
Klaxons
Foals
Battles
British Sea Power
Joy Division
Sonic Youth
Killing Joke
Smashing Pumpkins
R.E.M.
The Police
The Jam
Nine Inch Nails
The Cure

Current digs are Legion Of The Damned, Beyond Creation, Fallujah, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Origin (sweeeeepppssss bro), Immolation, Baphomet, Decrepit Birth, Disgorge and Gorgasm (maybe just because all their albums have ridiculous toungue in cheek titles).

Installing the Tribes Ascend Beta. Time to see if it's as good as Starsiege: Tribes.

I liked it a lot!
Try the original Starsiege: Tribes, that's good too.

I have barely gotten any responses. Everyone seems to be ignoring it.
Maybe we simply don't care. While I like the idea it just doesn't interest me. I've only seen half of one of the films and none of the other.

ok, I admit that I like this game series but WHY HAVE THE GRAPHICS NOT CHANGED
Console hardware hasn't actually advanced in a long time. It's just as much down to the Xbox and PS3 lacking the graphical power to develop that much.

But also yeah CoD's developers are lazy.

Realistically one can breeze through NAR AI once their skills have reached a decent point. With AI it can be less consistent, but it's still often a victory if you're against the right bots; naturally a flail sns isn't going to beat a standard SnS that far outweapons it.

The bass playing here is a little ludicrous.

I FINALLY LEARNT TO PLAY MUSE'S STOCKHOLM SYNDROME ON GUITAR.
Caps necessary. Been trying to since I started playing over 2 years ago. Proud moment (':
Cool. I've been trying to get some "laser sweeps", which are obviously named after the laser sound you make when you do them, kinda frequent in Origin's music. Damn hard, but I'm a persistent bugger so I should get there.

eh, i don't even see why people like skyrim so much to be honest,  i don't like it. what's so good about it? I mean, I've looked up gameplay but doesn't really tell me how it's good, and i don't want to go wasting £20-£30 on something i probably won't like.
It seems decent, but I don't have 20-30 pounds, and if I did I'd save it.

Skyrim just seems like an adventure/RPG game that impresses people with the graphics, I'm not all into that kind of stuff.

But then again, i never did like sims until i played sims 3 so i guess i can't say all that much.

I dunno, this is coming from a person who thinks Transformice is the best online game, and that Minecraft is the best mainstream game.
I don't really like Skyrim; having played a decent number of hours of it, it's surprising that it failed to keep my attention. I felt the levelling system wasn't very smooth and that the characters were good but not great. It's just NOT as good as a Bioware RPG (other than Mass Effect 3 which sucks with the new story writer at the wheel).

And I kinda agree but realistically it's hardly effecting anyone else.

Hopefully I can make it to the Pulp Summer Slam on April.

Gonna be there just for Veil of Maya and Periphery, though. Sadly, there's also August Burns Red *shudders*, blessthefall *shudders*, Arch Enemy *meh* and We Came as Romans *meh*.
Seems like you've found the Cynic-inspired squad (Veil of Maya is even named after one of their songs).
All things considered you'd probably really like early and new Cynic.

I may go to Bloodstock this year if the lineup improves a little; already got Testament, Behemoth, Sanctuary, Deicide, Iced Earth, Nile and Corrosion of Conformity on the list, which is pretty promising, but some more bands will really decide it.

Seeing Judas Priest live soon, should kick ass if they're anywhere near as good as Maiden live.
