Ironforge TC Showcases / Re: The Mighty Reier's "Hey look it's crap" Ironforge extravaganza« on: July 25, 2015, 01:46:47 PM »Those are some fine bots bro. Giant Pistonthen you'll love these ![]() steel 5, those are the 30 kg hammers, 2nd biggest piston (so the LW piston is still bigger lol) spikes in the front for a burst of damage on the initial ram, hopefully knocking important components off quickly. i need to play with it a bit to get the best setup. ballasts are there because otherwise the thing tends to ascend to the ionosphere with the treads. flies all over the place. may switch to wheels but 10000 vs 1500 hp is a tough call. ![]() thought i'd lose for sure against the HW poker (so many hammers whoaaaaaah) but HE USES THE 15 KG ONES WHAT A WUSS ![]() MW version, can't decide between 2nd or third largest piston. I'm thinking the smaller one, because I can get more hits in and get more armor/batts with the weight (one on right with big piston only has 2 duracels which do NOT last long, and less armor). it's like a 25kg difference ;o left one's like steel 5, right is like tite 3? idk hubbabubadeedoo 2384

welcome to the efficiency club then >:D (irl is for wusses *cough*)
i mean don't feel locked to a specific type of building though, this advice is just for this bot ironforge MW is 200kg and that is closest to your current weight, so I'd try to make that your goal. this bot has potential, but needs some work to make it a true killer. For example, those razors right next to your chassis are likely never going to get any hits in, and are therefore not very useful. likewise, it's usually more effective on a bot of this type to have all the weapons on the same side, because they hit together. If you're spinning this fast weapons on the other side are not needed because you'll almost never be flanked. I'd probably extend the thwack arm and focus the weapons toward the tip on one side if I were you. it would probably be a good idea to make the unarmored part of the arm either dark extender or probably even a DSL bar (more hp) btw don't feel pressured to post a robot like every 2 days or anything, just show us what you've got when it comes and we'll work with you. try to make it a habit to post your weight and armor too, it's really helpful to us. :) browsing other showcases is a great way to learn too. Ironforge is relatively new and as such many building techniques have not been developed for it, so you have more freedom right now in that regard. good luck building 2385

i think we'll need some more testing before any rebalancing
I'm not even sure high KE hits are what's causing it 2386
Off-Topic Discussion / Re: So what has happened since I have been gone« on: July 25, 2015, 12:44:29 PM »So what's this about RA3? I mean no offense to who made the image but, it makes me think it was quickly whipped up and it's fake. Did they forget to pay for the domain and someone quickly snatched it up and made a thing for it or is this for real for real?it looked suspicious at first but people did digging and some emails went around to the devs and most people think it's real now 2387

with 30kg of weight left you can always add more stuff, such as chassis armor or armor plates, even grippier wheels :)

if you don't know what do do with the extra weight you can always beef up the chassis armor/add some external armor

Ironforge TC Showcases / Re: The Mighty Reier's "Hey look it's crap" Ironforge extravaganza« on: July 24, 2015, 08:21:05 PM »Aneurysm looks killer - those tribars are a great touch. I'm a bit lost on the turning issue - I assume it's not built vertically like the bot in the second picture?nah aneurysm is built normally, the ai turning it just sucks. I think it's the same as other bots but just more noticeable because it's always under or on top of another bot and the weapon range is really bad. When I drive it I can get around the range issue by just driving around under the other bot and turning to get some good grinds in, but ai in ra2 just sits still like an idiot when in that situation. I'm sure a custom .py can be made to help this but I'm not knowledgeable enough to make one lololo the pistonbot is so bad it uses the 58 kg biggest piston because why not one shot sends it over half the combat zone reminds me of this 2391

thx for commenting guys really motivates me to post these :I
finally finished not perfect, but good enough. doesn't get stuck on its face much anymore, tough as nails, and more stable due to better ballast position and the tail. gave me an aneurysm in real life too ![]() 2 diehards, steel 5, dark armor in every NSA-standard square inch thing is though, the ai driving this is balls. I can beat most HWs in the pack with this if I drive it, but AIed it just sucksssss... it just sits still all the time and turns slower than an aircraft carrier even with turnspeed at like 100. I have no idea why it sucks so bad, I'm more worried about its AI in the tournament than the actual bot itself. also some test bots because I'm still getting a feel for IF ![]() some VS, i like the idea here, needs better execution though. might just make a horizontal one instead since it can barely turn ![]() started as a MW aneurysm (which was horrible) and morphed into this when I thought it might be a cool idea to double the 13000 hp treads as trappers. It might, but this specific robot is way too unstable to make it work. I'll shelve the tread idea for now though, I think it has promise. 2392

it does seem a BIT more stable with XP compatibility mode and fullscreen but it still crashes a bunch
especially with HWs because I guess they send parts flying harder 2396

yeah those bots were junk anyway
no PA skirts tho </3 ok so i decided i was gonna make a LW poker because why not. got to the chassis stage and scribbled a box like i always do because i totally didn't build S Cargo i wanted it to be fast, so i was like ![]() YEH THIS LOOKS GOOD FOR LW DRIVE well ![]() ![]() LOOKS GOOD ![]() Retirement Fund (after i slowed it down a bit) al 3 1 air tank, 2 duracels so then i fought with it and just breathing on the forward key sends it to the next galactic supercluster even with just one wheel wired to turn it's so hard to control that i felt like id never driven before (sorry i shouldnt make fun of sage) but what got me more interested was the piston i hooked it up to because DANG pistons in IF are ballin so take a wild guess what i did next ![]() guys its not a gimmic bot i swear in my mind: ![]() irl: ![]() ![]() 2400

interesting motor setup
if something gets under that it's toast though, maybe try a bit of top/bottom armor for at least a couple of buffer hits until you can ram again? Especially because I doubt you'll want to add ballasts on a rammer to avoid getting lifted |
