Discussion / Re: Operation: Resurect Mortis!« on: November 02, 2014, 06:15:58 AM »What's even the point in making Mortis if you can't replicate that bullet-speed tanto blade? You probably could if you put it on the super fast THz motor or a beta burst and make the axe incredibly light Hello Havoks. Anyway I kinda agree with R1885. Anyway, is Mortis REALLY that important that it needs a damn thread? There's only a few people capable of replicating it with specially made components and I'm pretty sure if they want to, they will, and you'll see it in a certain mod. Making more unneeded threads won't be encouraging, more like needy. 2343

BFE is a lot tougher to do as a guide - I know Sonny is working on one but I wouldn't be surprised if it took a while due to the complexity. Try following tips posted in the other thread.

Just download the ready-to-go copy that you just extract. Takes all the problems with copy-paste out

Chatterbox / Re: This forum is toxic« on: October 28, 2014, 02:37:00 AM »Seriously, your maturity level has taken a dive lately. You're acting like a spoiled child. Sounds kinda like 90% of the forum. there are quite a number of hosts. Kurt is hosting a 75+ bot tourney right now, RedAce has been hosting beetle bashers and right now dynamic duos, yug1tom has hosted the father and son tourneys as well as one of the first UHW tourneys in a long time, and I think max is gonna host the next Battlebots which has always managed to achieve 150+ entries everytime. Helloface also has a few tourneys under his belt, and looks to add a few more. And how many entries are tournaments getting where people aren't just re-entering irl bots? Also the mod isn't going to make people interested in RA2. Why would it? From the point of view of RW fanboys, it's a new RW game. 2348

And suddenly you 2 completely confirm his theory. Good job on that one.
Keep it on topic now, thanks, or I'll pop out some warns. 2349
General Support / Re: How do I bfe the chassis of a bot?« on: October 27, 2014, 07:02:03 PM »Also, I said not to post that. No, don't say that. They were asking for it as it had been deleted. Right, do you understand 3D co-ordinates? To change the height of a point you need to change the y values in the 'actual chassis points' section. Note that each chassis point re-occurs generally twice so if you change the height of a point, you must find the other occurrence of that point and change the height there too. 2351

He'd been deleting all his stuff for a long time before that.
Anyway, Craaig used Foresight. It's super effective! ![]() 2352
General Support / Re: How do I bfe the chassis of a bot?« on: October 27, 2014, 06:52:42 PM »"still you"newer, inexperienced members of GTM.Still you. I'm assuming you mean the nodes. Think about it - you can't add chassis points using BFE, but you can make the illusion of it having less (eg putting them very close like I did on my Mr Snappy replica). You have 2 layers of points in RA2, but Ewe2 has 3 layers - not differing height sections/a cutoff wedge like Robot the Bruce, but actual full layers - there's no way you could move that top layer to make 3. 2353
General Support / Re: How do I bfe the chassis of a bot?« on: October 27, 2014, 06:47:51 PM »Don't post a picture of 123savethewhales's theory because I don't understand it at all. Well that's a shame as that's the best theory around if you take just some time to understand it. I don't see why you can't knuckle down and learn it, it'll be a lot more effective in the long run than learning things bot by bot. Find that theory you speak about, and try something like Robot the Bruce as Sonny says. A prerequisite though, make sure you're decent with 3D co-ordinates. I don't know when they do that in schools these days but if you can't grasp 3D co-ordinates it's going to be a long, hard slog of trial-and-error for you for even the simplest jobs. I mildly apologize if this came across harshly but picking something actually impossible as KW notes and actually asking people to do it for you, and then TEACH you how to do it, is insane. Teaching it to yourself will have better benefits tenfold - but do you want to actually put the work in? People can teach you what things mean, and then you can try it for yourself. If you mess up, you get your backed-up copy of the bot and try again. It works in the long run and you'll be so much better off for it. 2354

I'm guessing from the 'reinforcements' that it was an attempt at IRL... yeah it's not just about reinforcing things. Burst motors don't even exist IRL.

Thanks for the compliments all :)
Thy, I'll put Snappy on the exchange when I'm fully happy with it - the lifter not working as the real one does bugs me slightly. I might also rebuild so that I BFE the sides in rather than the front back to stop the eyes being pixellated. And yeah toAst, it's a BFE thing. Essentially what I did was add 2 extra points on the baseplate, then on the top plate moved them both back 1 so that there was still a set over the bottom back points but the other points overhung the back (giving the bot a parallelogram shape) and then you have to find those overhanging back 2 points in the bot file and reduce their height by half. Click wrote a good tutorial for BFEing chassis height, except his tutorial moves all the points were you'd only want to change 2 in this situation - https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=9216.0 |
