Gareth's just messing around. He doesn't have the time to get a robot to San Fran on such short notice  :yaya)

One of the perks of being on the ORW mod team is that we get know stuff about the UK robot combat circuit before it's made public. You lot have been doing a decent job at putting together clues about what robots will make their appearance, but you all seem to be struggling when it comes to the 5th.

The 5th entry comes from a veteran team that don't see too much action nowdays due to other commitments, but have recently taken interest in getting back into the sport in a big way. We're not going to tell you outright who the entry comes from due to ABC's contract with them, but rest assured you'll be amazed, almost hypnotised, when you see what team it is and what their machine is.

Happy guessing.  ;)

Is there anything mechanically different between the tech demo and the final product?

They're getting Grant Imahara to host whatever video release comes out of this.

hype

I bet Grant Imahara is doing just about anything he can now that he's not on Mythbusters anymore.
It's goddamn sad how they just gave him the boot like that. Then Adam goes and becomes an SJW, years after posting those pics where we can see his bleached starfish.
Adam went SJW? BLOOPing hell. Please tell me he keeps it mostly to himself, and didn't chime in on Shirtgate, Gamergate, or any other hashtag that's been floating around.

Take as long as you need, man. Having a death in the family is never pleasant.

Wouldn't adding more robots mean you have to modify each arena so that robots don't get stuck in each other at the start?

What bot is the one in question ? Too lazy to research.
They're most likely not going to say since that could end really badly, but I'm going to take a guess.

Here are the key points:
A)It's a RW classic all star, as hinted by HB
B)It's a robot in the pack, but under a previous alias or paintjob
C)It was more successful previously than it is currently
D)It was sold on from the original builder

With that in mind, I've narrowed it down to a few:
*Deleted because they were all wrong*

Slightly bad news, because of a particular tw*t, you might not get all the classic All Stars you were hoping for. But the team and myself are trying to get in touch with as many others as we can. King B's recent return might mean it will be one of the replacement robots for example.
Is this something to do with Robots Live, or is it to do with one or two roboteers simply not wanting their robots in the mod? Kind of sucks if we're looking at double digits.

A Robot Wars World Championship this year? I'm curious now. I wonder what changes they'll make for the occation.

Here's a hint for you: Tomorrow's character reveal will be a villain! :O

let the speculation begin!
Phil Fish? If you beat him once, he has a temper tantrum and removes himself from the roster?

Well, RA2 is better anyway  :approve:
I'd rather say the opposite. In my opinion, the two Robot Wars official games are better than Robot Arena 2: Design & Destroy. Mainly because they are also moddable, and the house robots are included.
What have you been smoking/drinking/absorbing to think either of the main Robot Wars games are better than Robot Arena 2?

*The RW games were made in-house at a studio owned by the BBC, so that's already not a good sign. It's also the same studio that put out that awful Little Britain game a few years later.
*The physics engine for both RW games are awful. Everything bounces about without any regard for realism or common sense. The robots in Robot Arena 1 may have moved like slabs of concrete, but at least they didn't bounce like they were made out of rubber.
*The house robots are a pain the arse. In ED especially, they just do whatever they like half of the time. You could have the best robot in the game and still get ****ed over because Killalot decided to push you into the pit for no reason.
*Self-righting is bugged so that only specific weapons on specific chassis will work. If you have anything that's not a wedge or an invertable box, you're in for a rough time when you get flipped over. House robots and a lot of replicas automatically right themselves without doing anything and it looks dumb.
*Speaking of replicas, half of them look off. Look at WBC, Tornado and Razer if you don't believe me.
*Robot customisation is extremely limited compared to RA2. Good luck building a wedge robot that can run either way up in the RW games.
*JP won't shut the hell up unless you completely mute him.
*There are way more custom items made by the communty for Robot Arena 2 than for the RW games put together. In fact, are there any Robot Wars game mods that aren't just slight tweeks to the code?

The only thing that the RW games have over RA2 is that they can have more robots in a battle than RA2 can.

I have the opposite problem. Put DSL 3 on a clean game and I'm the one with bizarre controls.

Pretty sweet update. My only concern is if those robots already have contracts with Robogames.

As RedAce pointed out, there hasn't been that much discussion in general on the forum as of late.

Anyway, impressive work as usual. Can't find anything to fault about these recent replicas.
I do intend to literally blow your minds away as time goes on. :)

For example, they may not be listed but myself and MikeNCR have been in contact with a few American roboteers. ;)
Looking forward to hearing more about this. Any clues about who was contacted?

Wasn't RCL staged? From what I saw, it already looked fake and souless

Also, that second fundraiser isn't going to get fully funded. Too ambitious

It weights about 9.8kg (11kg with that extra armour), making it a featherweight. Anyone else want to see it pitted against NST?
