It looks cool but I'm pretty damn sure battleaxes have normals.
The angled connectors seem like a weak link in your weaponry.

This. Looks cool but I worry about those 2 factors. Nice work on learning to skin too :)

I always paint the entire chassis white (so the exported background will be plain white) then paint every notable surface of the chassis a different colour then export the current texture, before taking that into paint.net, using the wand tool on the white background, cutting it and placing it in a layer on top of the original and then working in layers between the original and the white, using the white as an overlaying template.

Also,
I can't give/take rep for some reason.
I believe only AU's and above can use rep, plus some roboteers.

Retitled the thread Tibsy, hope you don't mind. Would be a useful thread to have around - might move it to Real Robotics Discussions at some point also.

The only Minibots I didn't have were Gemini, Tornado and Firestorm, still got the rest in fair condition, as well as all the pullbacks plus RC Matilda/Sir K/Bash/Tornado and all 3 Pitstop kits. Also had some BB stuff, mainly Grip 'n' Grapplers. Frenzy was my favourite.

I'm not disappointed about not winning. I'm more disappointed because I drew with PLAYZOOKI of all people...

Seriously?

Yeah, seriously. You also drew with STC and we all know full well the votes for #4 were EDGY votes.
Besides, it's less 'drawing with Playzooki' that's the thing to be disappointed about and more 'drawing with that robot'. We all know Playzooki can actually build better than that but lel funny.

RS, you appear to be making a bit of an idiot of yourself. We got it first time, you edgily voted #4.

Also thanks for the votes everyone (Yeah I did 1, if it wasn't obvious enough :P)

You can use Apanx Bot Exporter to find the numbers, but I just put 0 into most of my lines - 0 corresponds to the chassis, so the weapons will always try to fire.

That should work. Does your binding have a 'weapons' section with any numbers in it? If it doesn't, it needs one

Hey kids, want some money? Write an article for SERVO. I got enough cash to seriously consider making a sportsman for franklin.
what is this tell me how to do it

servo magazine has a section in each issue on robot combat. they're always looking for submissions. if you make an article. you can e-mail it to the editors of the magazine and they'll pay you. badnik, mike, and i have all written articles for the magazine.

believe me, these articles get read. lots of builders have subscriptions and free issues are given out at events.

Temptation to write a short article on the state of UK robot combat is crazy.

Hi there :)

1) The game will run in 7 and 8 adequately (most of us run it as so :P)
2) There are different versions of the game. Stock (regular RA2), DSL and Ironforge are the 3 major currently available mods, all played in different ways. As long as you have WinRAR/7zip/something similar installed, all these are available in a completely ready-to-go (after extract) form  here.
3) I don't know a lot about custom components - they're generally a no-go for competitive, but I know there's a few packs on the BeetleBros site.

Hopefully that answers your questions :)

I've injured my wrist so in order to pass the time I'm starting an IRL DSL2 tournament. Arena will be the Compactor Arena (by I Like Tacos). This will be at least a 16 robot tournament.

Brackets
Standard Double Elimination brackets. Higher ranked builders will get the bye spots if there are any.

Rules
- This tournament will be in DSL 2.1
- No flamethrowers
- I will be AIing, but I have the right to ask you do do it yourself
- BFE is allowed if it's for realism/aesthetic purposes.
- Nobody can be entered until a bot is received and accepted
- The weight class will be Heavyweight
- IRL STRONGLY ENFORCED. No exceptions, no weapon spam either. Obviously overpowered robots will be declined. It's not a difficult rule just keep with the spirit of IRL.
- The only glitch allowed is the small chassis glitch.
- Arena hazards will be off
- Bots must pass stability tests.
- Walkers and Shufflers will gain a 400kg weight bonus, but at least 200kg must be used on the movement system.
- Matches are 3 minutes
- No custom components
- 1st havok, restart; 2nd havok, your bot is eliminated
- No custom armour
- No Trov Glitching, Hax Mode, or any other unrealistic glitches that enable an advantage.
- Multibots are allowed.
- No titanium sheets attached directly to baseplate (Including half-sheets)
- If a bot is out of control for 30 seconds it is eliminated (if a bot is just randomly bouncing around the arena, in counts as being out of control).
- You can upgrade/change entries as many times as you want before I've AI'd and done splashes for it.
- Entries MUST be sent via PM
- M.O.E Motor is allowed (one max)
- Judge Burst is allowed (two max)
- Only a maximum of 2 NPC Fasts allowed
- Interchangeable weaponry allowed
- Emergency flippers will have a 50% HP boost
- Beater bars will be slightly nerfed as like last time

Judging
I will judge solo on the following criteria with the exception of weaponless flippers:
Damage /10
Aggression /5
Control /5
Condition /5

Weaponless flippers will be judged on this criteria:
Aggression /10
Control /10
Condition /5

Scores aren't split, meaning it is possible for each bot to get any amount of points.

What RedAce said.

Impartial judges are the best way in my opinion for an IRL tournament.
Every other style, in game points.
