Reinstalling wont fix the issue as the DSL events text file is lacking what my fix replaces..
It wont have any effect on your sound driver unless you put the files in your registry or something..
I mean its really easy to put in.. you only have to unzip then paste it into the RA2 folder.. same location as the icon / exe.. didnt think it could get easier then that..

You could.. but I'd rather use another component for skinning purposes and shape it Pyramid is easier then a cube
