General Support / Re: Need help with getting multiplayer to work...« on: July 18, 2015, 05:06:15 PM »
Gameranger is completely safe and the best way of playing online (non-LAN). I maintain that if the wifi isn't working, using a LAN cable is the number 1 best choice - the lag is just from RA2 in general, the multiplayer is horribly optimized, so even with our best non-LAN options like Gameranger, it's pretty bad for everyone but the host.
Font wise it's really really annoying to read for me personally so I'd really prefer you just stuck with the default but it's your choice I guess. Put it this way, you're not gaining style points or whatever for using a fancy font :P 1583

The online play of RA2 doesn't work anymore (GameSpy doesn't exist). You can play online using a LAN simulator (I guess you can call them that?) like Hamachi or Gameranger, but the lag is unbearable unless you're playing over real LAN, like a cable.
We have AI tournaments here where you can submit your exported bots to be AIed (run by the game) and fought in tournaments for all to watch. 1586

DSL and Ironforge are total conversion mods and therefore aren't cross compatible with each other or stock RA2, as GK pointed out.
It's like the original Counter Strike to Half-Life. Counter-Strike was built from Half-Life but you can't mix them together. You'll find a lot of people here have many copies of the game for each variant they have. EDIT: My RA2 folder. Arrows next to each full RA2 installation (The tournaments folder has a bunch of half-copies that I've kept around in case I need the AI. ![]() 1587

I feel like GTM should have a 'First Name' field on profiles.

I imagine it's some form of game management (eg Origin), game boosting or screen recording software adding an overlay.

Or the not so neat, slightly more-of-a-pain-to-reverse solution, cut the thing and wrap both ends in electrical tape

Modifications / Re: RA2: Ironforge« on: July 17, 2015, 09:57:13 AM »
It's a total conversion mod, so almost everything is changed.
A brief overview: -A new set of components -A whole new AI roster -Changes to the weight classing (self-enforced - see the game's loadup screen for details) -New UI It's basically - as with any RA2 mod - just RA2 with different sets of stuff. It doesn't play differently (although the different sets of components and building styles make each mod feel very separate) to RA2's core mechanics. 1592

Try what the other guys have said. Honestly the most reliable thing to do would be to connect a LAN cable between the computers and forget the wireless - it'd remove some of the (at times very bad) lag too.
I fixed your text too, please don't go for the massive/fonted writing unless necessary :) Also HB, the multiplayer server is only for the internet hosted games, you can still host/join local multiplayer matches. 1593

Bit harsh, quick to judge. But that's you.
Anyway, seem as though Ray's been posting in this thread, perhaps he can shed some light onto the persona? Was it encouraged by ABC? 1595

I feel like some people are mistaking acting for the cameras as real life. You can't act all nicey-nice when you're doing stuff like that

I'm pretty sure the teeth have normals along the dark edge (you know what I mean :P) so your bumper may be slightly ineffective, but cool otherwise.
