Discussion / Re: Compilation of Useful RA2 Links

I'll update the entire post at some point if there's no objections, there's a fair amount missing now.

Nah, just that the bots suck :P (Naturally, as 75% of them are VS).
The dual Beta flipper does like do havoc every now and again but that's probably due to overkill.

Frankly uninspiring bunch of MWs, testing for Ironclash. May not enter if things don't improve :')

I'd actually say allowing closed arenas would make the field more interesting, as if you enter a flipper you'd be hoping for your home arena that little bit more. Adds some spice - not only can you pick an arena for your bot, but potentially an arena to scupper opponents :)

First off, I split your post with DSL bots into a new topic in the DSL Showcase (See here - DSL bots don't go in Ironforge showcases :P)

As for the bot, you definitely want to get those drive motors mounted internally. You might need to extend the chassis slightly but they'll be so much better protected.

It'd be cool if you gave a list of arenas and let people choose their home arena, so they could potentially suit their bots to the arena.

Unless you set really weird quality standards for each member you can't ban IRL as such in a Standard tournament. I just made the effort (in my also Standard Ironforge MW no-SNS tournament :P) to say that IRL bots will be at a major disadvantage. Pretty much all you can do is recommend stuff and let people realise that entering an IRL bot in a Standard tournament generally won't go well.

the metal skull arena would work as well

Nothing really. Thwacks tend to have only 1 arm though. I'm not sure on where the rules would lie for a thwack currently.

RA2 seems to run fine on 10, which is good I guess.

I remember reading somewhere (could've been here even) that Razorback basically had a whole bot of spares so I'm not surprised they fixed it for an exhibition match.

The poll has spoken and SnS in general will be banned, along with any bot utilizing meltybrain tactics (meltybrain is when an SnS doesn't just Sit n Spin but Move Scarily Towards You n Spin).
I'll add another poll after I've done a few things to decide the arena choice.

I added a poll regarding SnS. In the interests of transparency, I voted to ban them as I agree with Reier.

(Also in the interests of transparency, the results of the poll may not represent my end choice for the rules.)

It was a shot at the staff being REALLY VERY BAD and doing nothing would be better than the EVIL OPPRESSIVE STAFF.

I've been trying to think of a fair way to balance them out - after all, Mr AS's SnS dominated RIP4. Perhaps a low walled arena could be a solution?

Sure, will do.
This was going to be RIP5 but I'm fed up of the RIP name so yeah, that might explain the simplicity. It's an old school tournament in a new mod.

No meme tournament for now, sorry :)

Building Rules
-Ironforge v1.1
-Middleweight (up to 200kg, with 4 ballasts allowed on top of this for no cost)
-Standard (DSL-S) realism (You can enter an IRL bot but you will more than likely be at a large disadvantage)
-Multibots allowed to a maximum of 2.
-No cheatbot2 or custom components.
-No out of botlab editing whatsoever.
-Bots must show controlled movement.
-No SnS or bots utilizing meltybrain.
Tournament Guidelines
-Unlimited slots, but 1 entry per person.
-Signups will be open for 1 week and no longer. Entries sent before signups open will be rejected.
-Entries cannot be updated, unless they are rejected for breaking rules, in which case they have 1 chance to fix before disqualification.
-I can AI for you but it will be the most basic line - it will move in the right way and use it's weapons, nothing more.
Battle Rules
-3 minute matches in the -------- arena (TBD)
-Single elimination bracket
-1 restart per bot per match for any match-affecting Havok explosion - any more and the bot will be disqualified.
-I will enter. Entry TBD.

Thoughts?

You're simply a petson I like to disagree with :/
Yeah, because nobody respects me anymore and nothing would be lost if I'd get banned
People dont respect you and thats a shame. And people dont respect me. But saying S*** like this is NOT. HELPING. If people dont respect you, EARN YOUR RESPECT. I am the wrong person to be saying it, but that is how it is. I am trying to prove as a good builder, and while i fail on many attempts, I will never leave, want to be banned or say "i am not respect :( just ban meh". I may have in the past, but now i am here to stay. Till I get banned or something.

People including myself have told Jonzu this on many an occasion but the attitude never changed ;)
