I'm not good with advice; I'll give it a shot:
Here, these look like they're floating, and with the remaining weight you have, how about two angled T connectors, with red extenders going into the chassis (on the outer extenders)?
Protecting your wheels is a good idea, even though I've never done it myself, hah. If you look at both pictures, they're just oddly constructed.
You have two red extenders here, if you've placed them correctly, you could maybe have extenders going to the side (to outside the chassis), then next to the wheel, for a side protection; not cornered. If they aren't placed there correctly, you
might have enough room to do what I said with two newly placed red extenders.
