Hell yes Poison Of Maatet. We really need Phil around since he was one of the most original builders and a kickass one too.

You guys should try... You only need phone and a track where to run. One lap is 400m if someone didn't know.

I have far more important things to do than run....besides sports are boring as hell.

You sir, made my day.

Sorry man, I totally forgot about the "No personal opinions" rule we have here.

You are entitled to personal opinions, but you may not present personal opinions as facts. :gawe: After any personal opinions, you should put something like "in my view", or "to me" preceding said opinion. Some sports are boring to me, but I do quite like the technical aspects of motor racing, such as Formula 1 and occasionally the BTCC. Shame it's only on ITV4.

I never said that my opinions where "facts," I was just stating that sports bore me...at least the majority of the mainstream ones do, I happen to like biking but I'm not sure if that really counts.

There's no point to this, cut this out before it escalates.

The fact that you reacted to his post as though it was a joke implies you feel it had no credibility, and in that post he expressed a personal opinion.
Now stop this farce before it gets out of hand.

I dunno, I like hockey (like field hockey, haven't tried ice hockey because I live in England and we're not big on it here) and football (like real, soccer football:P) as casual games.
To each his own, but since I dabble in a lot of hobbies (music critic, gamer, food critic, film critic, guitar, making guitars, model making, tactical board games, casual sport, art, ect.) I tend to enjoy a lot of things.

A few new bots.

Sawbot. Can't remember the number of ants, I think Plastic 3. Uses the dread disks on the outside and the minions on the inside so it could absorb the damage of enemy attacks better. The Perm 80s get hit more often than the disks get taken off unfortunately. New version has the perms protected and a lighter top plow.

Angled juggler. I aimed for much more powerful spin motors on this one so it could seriously just tear things to bits, and it does well at that.

IRL Lifter. Small JX works for the lifting arm, and it has 4 magmotors for the drive. Not especially wedgy but works as a rammer as well as a flipper. Not invertible but it's nice to drive.

i'd say that aslong as you don't see most/all of the metal hinge, it's fine.
It doesn't function realistically though.
yes it does, put a low to the ground axle on a bot and it's pretty much the same. the only thing that bothers me is when it sticks out of the chassis unrealistically
Find me a bot with that sort of wedge that can consistently get under bots with a chassis wedge flush with the ground IRL.

Flippers were so dull in the last couple series of RW. As madman said, the whole flipping OOTA concept was so overused, it went from "Wow" to "Sigh".

You can blame that on the discovery of Hardox.  Hypno Disc didn't get weaker, its opposition got stronger.

Also, all of the non-RW competitions had to ban spinners
Hardox was only really used on TaN IIRC.

Princess Mononoke was pretty badass.

Porco Rosso... i should watch it soon
Porco Rosso is less serious but feels slightly more mature overall.

Sheck Spinners, can they truly be IRL or not?

I say that they can be with the components we have now, but much less effective than the realistic counterparts. And by realistic counterparts, I mean Grog, The Resurrection and other infamous RA2 DSL shell spinners. Hammers spinning around in such a position isn't IRL in my opinion.

Also, about flails, to achieve an IRL-like chain-y feel, we'd have to chain together like 5 180 degree axles, all rotated in different ways. Because of this, I'd personally say flails can't be IRL, because extender work like this is prime rib for Havoks... And then there is the Rule of 7...
1 axle mount with a flail point on it should be enough.
Also, check my posts in FOTEP's showcase for some ideas I had on this topic.

No point in discussing this until we make component changes since it simply won't work well enough.

but since we're on the topic:
1. No wedges to be used for dedicated outweaponing purposes other than skirt hinge wedges (ideally skirt hinges)
I say if metal hinges aren't placed on the very bottom of the robot and look like they aren't detracting from the spirit or look of the bot, then they can be used. If metal hinges are used just because they are metal hinges, then no.
I say if they are used in realistic way, or for side protection, rather than round the front.

Trouble is, people who are capable at doing this are already working on their own projects.

Such as Gaz on RA2INBOW, JoeBlo on Backlash (and I think Gaz is helping) and Click on DSL3...
I discussed the idea with Conraaa a while ago. Should just be a matter of adjusting the component settings we have currently so that they're much more difficult to break (just a matter of fracture adjustment) and by increasing the power of DSL bars and other underpowered weapons. It's also probably possible to increase the weight of single weapons like spikes and to dramatically increase their damage ratings so instead of mounting a tonne of weapons on a rammer you can, you add a single, heavy, powerful spike.

I'm not sure but I generally find that popup elements on gutrippers tend to not add as much to the damage potential as a more powerful set of gutripper and juggler weapons.

So you are afraid to post stuff here because of the opinion of others ??

Well, what's the point of posting a bit if all I'm going to get is scathing criticizm for something that actually makes the bot better? And It's not being afraid, it's having next to no motivation. You wouldn't want to post a bot if you had to squash a 3-page flame war over a wedge.

Sorry if I'm being a drama llama, but the amount of butthurt people feel over a simple 10kg wedge attached to a simple 12kg hinge is driving good builders away from the IRL designs department. You people act like crazy-ass designs don't exist IRL, or something.
In real life, a skirt on a hinge does not get outwedged by a steel wedge mounted on a doorhinge every time. It's more of random chance. The issue is that they are unrealistically effective in function.
atm theres no strict guidelines for what qualifies for irl and its definition is objective, which is why everyone argues that certain bots are or arent irl (see: naryars showcase, dragonslayer in blades of fury 2, chocolate in ra2 olympics london)

BASICALLY  irl is a mess because ppl disagree over EVERYTHING
What would deal with this problem is an IRL component set that reduces the OP-ness of certain components (mostly wedges) and that would get rid of ridiculous outweaponing.

Hey I'm on TV (for like a second at a time distanced by 20 minute gaps :P)

And you are proud of the fact ? How foolish you are. You know glory can only be achieved by conquest.
GLORY IS ACHIEVED BY SUCCESS. THIS IS THE FIRST STEP TO DOMINATION.
But as I said, I can be seen on the BBC Proms, in the crowd.
