Compress it into a 6 month schedule? Assuming a month is ~4 weeks, therefore 6 months is 24 weeks...
Weeks 1-2 - Preparations Weeks 3-6 - LW Season Weeks 7-8 - Break Weeks 9-12 - MW Season Weeks 13-14 - Break Weeks 15-18 - HW Season Weeks 19-24 - Off-season (room for other weightclasses or IRL mini-seasons?) Or if you wanted a true half year you could add another 2 weeks onto the off-season to get 2 full rotations a year. Also I'd like to see all main mods run simultaneously, I don't build Stock at all and I'm 0% interested in getting good at it (sorry AS) so it'd be nice to see at least Ironforge included (DSL is a difficult one with the massive endgame it has reached in Standard building). Team-wise, shuffling would probably make sense, but may mean some people just don't do anything because they don't want to/don't care. If it's friend based, people will get shouty at each other so they don't drop out. Maybe. 1203

It's nice, and you can tell, because it already has more comments than whenever I built one.
How punty is it with 132s rather than dual perms? I mean I know it's impossible to upgrade and keep it a HW but just wondering. 1204
Modifications / Re: Robot Wars RA2 - OFFICIAL MOD« on: November 14, 2015, 04:43:35 PM »
My top tip, assuming you have extracted the game successfully, is to run it in full screen fr the options menu. Crashes will be less common (but may still happen because ra2 is a 12 year old game that was rushed shovelware even at the time)

In that case it'll be fixed in the Xmas Expansion.

I imagine that would be because it's a chassis component, and they usually disappear in-match. No real fix that I know of, but we can potentially have a look into changes if we have time.

Just a few quick and very uncomprehensive words before I go to bed
IF weapons have normal where they should have normal, so for sickles that's on the brighter edge. I'd recommend crushing teeth. 1209

Yes, I know.
And I don't build unrealistically so I'm not gonna give advice on stuff I'm less informed about, despite seeing things which I think would be very beneficial. Also hardly anyone has built IF Unrealistic. 1210
Ironforge TC Showcases / Re: Red's terrible robot showcase« on: November 12, 2015, 01:23:37 PM »
Yeah not even gonna talk about the first one seem as though it's so unrealistic.
The second one could use a lot of chassis shrinking and probably a switch to lighter wheels rather than tracks. Also why are the weapon motors on extenders? you could save a lot of weight just by putting them on the anchors. Really not enough weaponry for a middleweight, I'll be honest with you. Shrink the chassis and concentrate on 1 weapon system rather than going for weird hybrids with meh synergy. 1211
Ironforge TC Showcases / Re: Hercules "How do i ironforge"« on: November 12, 2015, 10:29:55 AM »
Plus versions are a little larger in size, weight and stats. Basically they're more powerful than the regular versions, but still aimed at the speed unlike the Beta.

Ironforge TC Showcases / Re: Hercules "How do i ironforge"« on: November 12, 2015, 08:20:16 AM »
Okay let's expand on that.
Size regardless, Snappers/DDTs and Betas have different aims in Ironforge. Snappers/DDTs and their 'plus' versions are identical in stats and (pretty much) size, they just have different axis of rotation. They are designed to be very fast, and so are very good for popups where damage is calculated partially on the speed of the weapon. Betas on the other hand are designed to be a little slower, but a lot more powerful. With flippers it's the power you want, so Betas are perfect for flippers and even some axes. Different components for different usages. That's basically, from what I can tell, the entire Ironforge ethos. 1213

I'm on it now. I managed to put actual rotating wheels on a cube but it wasn't very fond of moving :P

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Qwertythe300th/Team Texbots Robotic Showcase« on: November 10, 2015, 04:13:54 AM »
I'm mildly impressed at how long you've been here but yet haven't got the basics.
General DSL rules of thumb 1) Never use Piglets for drive in any weightclass ever (as JW says) 2) For batteries, 1 ant battery per spin motor. So 'BIG TEX' only needs 3 ants (add an extra if you have weight, for good luck). Burst motors still need their amp ratings fulfilled but all spin motors only need 1 ant each. 3) Realism. In DSL-S and IRL no moving part can cut through anything else. This is likely the actual reason Textanic never got accepted, as the blade goes straight through those batteries. 4) Don't use different drive motors in the bot. It just doesn't help. Dallas would likely run great on 4 NPC Fasts. And now some more IRL directed advice 5) Wow your supports. I'd be cautious of ever accepting BIG TEX or Midland Monster into any IRL tournament because there's so little support for the massive motors and, generally, the huge amount of weight. You'd never see a real bot with 8 mags and 2 big spinning discs supported by only 1 thin pole into the chassis. It only needs to be aesthetic supports. Also, nobody would ever leave 8 mags so very exposed. ![]() Hope this helps. 1220
General Support / Re: Custom Bots« on: November 08, 2015, 06:03:29 PM »
Honestly I'm a little confused by your question. Do you mean opening the bot in RA2 or a different software?
Assuming a different software (eg Paint to do your own skin), you need to export the skin from the paint shop (or whatever it's called) area of the robot workshop, and you can then open the output file that'll be in the Custom Textures folder of your RA2 directory. You can then import back from the same area of the workshop. :) |
