your really going robot wars crazy arnt you ? lol don't blame you I too am a fan but there is a showcase for replicas in the ... well showcase section so I wouldn't think its really a BOTM,
for BOTM people usually wan to pull out the best they can build so it would really restrict things a bit to much, but that's just my opinion :)

first off buddy there are spam bots around these parts so type your email as
example(put something random in brackets)@example.com and most people will know to not type in the brackets when emailing your things
that will help a bit
also in the downloads section there is a robot wars AI pack which you can download then go in to the AI folder and copy all the bot0, bot1, bot2 etc from each team to get a heap of them (you don't even need to apply the AI pack to your DSL)

welcome to GTM
philetbabe is one really good AI'er with solutions to some of the most complicated weapon systems I have cooked up
but it is a nice change to find a new person who already has a good knowledge of the game :-D stick around and maybe showcase some of your bots

there is now a rough list of people who put there name down for this tournaments so I can keep track of it all on the first page, I will accept names right now but hold on to any bots you might have for now

Also, they seem to be next to the original stock parts. How can I fix this? if your talking about where they appear in the bot lab when I was making my Stock Mod (scrapped now since there is a lot going around) I found the names of the components determined positions of the components (that's for power and weapons haven't tried any others) also are you going to make the metal extenders stronger then the plastic ones ?

as I said before I don't really know there is a few other tournaments running or starting so I guess I will wait, I have an estimated possible 20/24 people who have put there name down. im guessing when Gumba, RODE and maybe brawl of the builders depending on how long they take to finish (there is also MXC and ROTOS to consider as well as possible starts from TTC2 and Raw 2)
so I guess it will depend on the demand, if the entry list on this tournament fills up before some of the others that have been discussed it might jump the cue
so hold on to your bots for now as this time im going to fill up the list before you submit entries.

SSG is right that's why I added step 2 you must not have WinRar installed, and yes their is no need to quote the huge post when it is the topic of discussion :)

the space efficiency is better but huge lack of weaponry for a heavyweight also you have only used about half of the weight limit you can build up to 800kg of killer machine use every bit of it also ballets really don't effect anything as far as I know they are just there so infogames could make some of the AI fit into the heavyweights class, try casters for stability
Edit: o yeah R1885 I forgot about armor, always use DSA (double strength aluminum) it has the strength of steel with the weight of aluminum (aka the best armor you can get) to get it simply DONT click the armor button at all and bingo super strong armor :)

haven't decided I might make it best out of 3 but if a bot wins 2 straight there wont be a third match up
but as a result don't expect it to be a speedy as I was with the last tournament

The DSL music is copyrighted, no? I have no idea its just something to consider but if there is little to no lyrics I don't think there is much of an issue as its hard to identify

Also, read this: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm this is literally you key to better bot building, once you familiarize yourself with those if you see any posts done by the user Sage (he will most likely post something in here) check out his signature for advanced building tips, also this is one of the BEST pieces of advice I ever got when I was new. make the chassis as small as possible and use other things to protect the bot as a whole (snowplows, casters, ram plates etc etc)
In real life... a square bot with a ton of plating to protect the innards would be suitable for battle. With this game, its kinda the opposite. Anything you can put outside the basic structure of the bot will keep the precious chassis and even more so precious contents safe.
As an exercise, try to make the smallest chassis you can make to fit a battery/control board/and maybe a snapper or two, then see what you can attach to the snappers to make the bot mobile/damaging/and protected. This will teach you to congest things to a smaller chassis.
Because, remember, in battle... if a bot does a ton of damage to your chassis you are done for pretty quick... if the opponent nips away at exterior parts first before getting to the core, your bot has a better chance at surviving longer and winning the bout.
Except for popups... dammit those things piss me off. When it comes to popups, disregard any sane rules or laws of reasonable physics altogether.
best of luck and keep building!

let me first say welcome to Gametechmods don't take posts like R1885's to hard it basically happens to everyone, most importantly take in everything people tell you and you will fit in fine, when you think you are ready then there is plenty of great tournaments for you to enter.
also don't bother with the power steering just wire your motors to skid steer
forward
left side anticlockwise - right side clockwise
backward
left side clockwise - right side anticlockwise
left
left side clockwise - right side clockwise
right
left side anticlockwise - right side anticlockwise

not that I think it will matter but you might want to be careful with copyrighted music on commercially released things :-D
