great your replicas are really good, Im mainly doing it because - I wanted to make an AI pack
- I like modding the UI
- Im a Whyachi fan and want to make Whyatica
but yeah this is open to anyone who wants to submit replicas (hang on to them for now) and I think I want to work on this a fair bit with HurricaneAndrew since it was not only your idea but you seem to know a heap about robotica

sorry there has been questions flying left right and center, yeah that should be fine if it uses the same bindings I found a new method of cutting out robots in screen shots so it will be fine to change on the splash

I tell you what is everyone wants to build robotica replicas and send them to me I can put them all in a DSL 2 mod (AI ones that people cant) and make a nice UI mod for it to but i wont be able to do any work on it for a bit due to my current tournament.. but its an option is anyone is interested. It will be a group thing so all names of those that help out will be in the credits

with Sage, LRA2 and now you (possabily somebody else) all wanting in I think I will make "Wild Card" matches with the winner taking Hydro's Place that way all reserves will get at least one match rather than nothing

stock bots (so original RA2) make a new topic in Showcase called something like "arkaaa's Showcase" and for DSL robots create a new topic in DSL Showcase called something like "arkaaa's DSL Showcase" then just post up pictures and info and others will help you :-D

sorry there is no way to rotate a motor vertically, the best way to get a different angle would be using a base plate anchor to get the angle you need
it is possible to mix DSL and Stock but most people prefer to keep them separate from each other anything that doesn't come with DSL or Stock are fun to play with but are not legal in tournaments unless specified.
if there not showing check you added them correctly.. if prompted to overwrite any files click yes
Also welcome to the forums from me too

The replicas in DSL 2 suck and aren't great indicators of how "good" a robot is. For a better indication, try fighting the actual AI. stick it against Grog the Vengeful and see really what your bots are made of  if you start beating him then make fights 2 on 1

I still think an easy solution would be have a phased replacement so basically have DSL 2 and DSL 3 separate specifications for things like tournaments (eg: this tournament is DSL 2 Heavyweight or This tournament is DSL 3 Lightweight) and DSL 2 might eventually die out once 3 has been around long enough
I think a lot of people have been waiting for a really realistic robot game

I would be interested in making an AI pack as I was going to do it before but im not exactly familiar with robotica, but based on those pictures I know a couple, Whyatica and Panzer ones I know of quite well

O ok, I'm a little confused on what u guys mean by AI'ing. Aslo I'm confused with the Anti Ballast would I be at a disadvantage if I don't have a bot 1200kg??? just to clear up some questions, AI is the term used for the computer controlled robots in RA2 (ones you fight in 1 player) basically for this tournament I put the bots in the game as computer controlled bots and get them to fight each other while I record the result and post the videos up here for everyone to see Anti Ballast is a component for the game that will do nothing but subtract 400kg of your bot by doing this you will have 1200kg to work with (800 limit + 400 from the anti ballast) the game will only build up to 800 but since it started at -400 you can use 1200kg

it could be something to investigate, i just downloaded a multipurpose extractor and tried but the process stopped half way through with an error message also found this on a website you can only decompile a normal .exe file to assembly code and not to the original source

that's a good point maybe the time has come for tournaments to now specify Stock, DSL 2 or DSL 3 (and maybe S32's Catagore) maybe even freedom should be opened up in DSL 2 and keep realism for DSL 3

not sure what the issue was but my nice little computer decided to kill the GMF file so I sort of did that part again and works now, so likely a typing mistake by me, thanks again for helping out with arena modding

Yes it should be backwards compatible.
I don't want to rebuild entirely the 200+ bots of the upcoming NAR AI pack because of non-compatibility.
EDIT: My post here is probably in vain... the no will most likely win. happy 4000th post I never thought about that... that's a real shame is DSL 3 a fair bit off ? or is it likely to come close to the NAR AI pack release?

I would have to say that DSL is really a set up that furthers RA2 and i would say its not furthering it as much by staying fully compatible with 2.1 I say yes to moving it ahead at the loss of backwards compatibility. push the boundaries of what this game can do :-D

double post ftw
the rankings now contain all names entered in this tournament the order of the unranked people is just random at the moment but after qualifying you will be sorted out in your correct ranks and it will be updated through the each round of the tournament
