Live stream isn't hard. Plus you can record at the same time
Yeah, I'd have no problem doing that.

I bet RoboBowler would love to do commentary ;)

I want a color commentator

Oh, we'd also need a guy with a decent mic to announce. Someone with ridiculous amounts of enthusiasm, like the one out of robot wars.

getting somebody to record a vocal track week after week for all of the matches might be a bit much to ask. What would be really cool is having a dedicated announce team, with a play by play guy with a real base of knowledge of the game, and a colour commentator who is just straight up entertaining.

... I knew my day would come. I freaking love robot wars and I would be honoured if I could be the colour commentator. This forum has been a legend to me every since I saw the bot blood spider on YouTube, and upon finding this site (dsl in particular) it felt like I had found the gold city of el dorado so please if anything please let me a colour commentator I would work my ass off for it plus im incredibly enthusiastic (just ask red blur) and I have a dedicated mic for recording audio (its 40 pounds but eh). please consider this kill343gs and ill make it worth your while =)

love ecolusian from the bottom of his heart  :heart_smiley: :heart_smiley: :heart_smiley:

In all fairness, I think you'd work better for the entertaining commentator.
The colour commentator is the entertaining one.

Liking the intro graphic you made for the battle.  Nice job, and thanks for hosting.
No problem and thanks, I thought I'd add some more to my challenge videos before it becomes a boring, arduous process to edit.

For this to work, we need everyone to agree on one mod that is almost objectively the best for an innovative competitive environment, and then push all of our focus there.
Ironforge would be brilliant for this. As Craaig said, there isn't really an established meta.

We would need multiple hosts willing to record matches on a weekly basis.
If this becomes a thing, I'll volunteer to be one of the hosts. My forte doesn't really lie in bot building, rather AI'ing and hosting matches, so I'd like to be part of this community league in at least some form.

Challenge Board / Re: RA2 CHALLENGE THREAD - DISCUSSIONS
« on: November 13, 2015, 04:13:42 PM »
While I wait for Bubbles and NiaC, I have something different in mind:

- DSL-S MW
- 1-on-1
- No Razors, Light DS Teeth, or beaters allowed
- Axle Mounts are banned for Flails
- DSL Tournament Arena (Hazards On)
- 3 minute matches
- Flippers & SnS are banned
- No BFE, AAM, Hax, etc.

Who's up for it?
I'm up to host it, when you get an opponent.

Wow, Nary with 12 DQs. He would be way higher up on the board if he actually sent bots in :P

That's brilliant. It'll be series 3 champ :) Are you using the Wheel tool? In which case, that robot is illegal. If you want it to move, try thrusters and changing the weight. Wheels must be attached as props using the Axis tool.

Haha. There are some little tricks and rules we'll have to show you. It's quite easy to make a bot in GMod once you've made your first working one. I'll try and catch you on the server when I get home.

Just come on the server! I've offered to teach ya.

Hi guys, this forum section has been cleaned and thread titles formatted for consistency. Also I shall be updating the titles/leaderboard soon.
This section will be returned to its former glory!
Holy hell, just as challenges start to get more frequent. Welcome back (although, you won't know who I am :P)

It seems, theoretically, a good idea. Using a wedge and then smashing a hammer down on them, but, honestly, it would make more sense to use more than one weapon, or possibly some form of spinner, as the short time a robot spends on a wedge could be more easily exploited. I couldn't tell you how the battery situation is, though, because you're covering them with ballasts.
Please, only give advice when you are absolutely sure about what you are saying. If you really want to give advice to people on building, be sure to be active in your showcase and have those more knowledgeable teach you, first.

I'd like to see somebody try but from a reliability standpoint there's just no way it would work
Why are you talking in the 3rd person like that?

Oh, please no.
This is definitely something that I don't want implemented, too.
