Hi all, I was shooting the breeze over MSN with NFX over the idea of an "original" (non-replica) IRL-Realistic-style tournament, with definitive, concrete rules to building. The premise is a semi-casual, beginner-friendly tournament meant to ease rookie builders into RA2, while allowing more veteran builders to show the ropes and stretch their legs out with original but still obviously really realistic robot designs. Keep in mind this is more a general rule set for all IRL-realistic tournaments rather than for just one specific tournament. The rule set: 1. Event Type1.0. We will use the DSL v2.1 mod for Robot Arena 2. 1.1. We will use the standard realistic rules set, plus the additional rules outlined in section 2. 1.2. Conditions for winning a match are as follows: - Knockout: Smash the control board of the other robot. - Submission: Pin a robot to immobilization, or damage it to the point where it will not move (but - Paralyzing: Take out all of the other robot's wheels. (Let's face it, it's over for them by the time this happens) 1.3. The format of fight is up to the discretion of the organizer. 1.4. We will use the Narmour be GONE!!! fix.1.5. Due to the bullsh** points system in Robot Arena 2, matches that do not reach a conclusion should be decided by a panel of three judges.2. Bot Construction2.0. All bots must be constructed within the bot editor/builder in the game - bot file editing outside of the game is not allowed. 2.1. If you plan on using skinned components, they must be "standalone" (doesn't replace any files) and cannot be altered besides the texture/skin. 2.1.1. You must send your skinned components to the admin or post them with your bot. 2.2. All robots should have at least one battery. 2.3. Multi-bots are only allowed in groups of two, and only in non-rumble tournaments. It is up to the discretion of the organizer of the tournament whether or not to allow "multi-bots". 2.4. All robots must have a minimum of two wheels. There has to be at least one powered wheel. IMPORTANT!!!!!!!: Additional IRL Realistic Rules 2.5. Besides the standard realistic rules (components can't intersect, no stacking, no glitches, etc.), the robot must obey the additional guidelines outlined below. 2.5.1. If you have externally attached motors, the weight of the motor cannot exceed double the weight of the extenders. (For instance, if your extender weight is 15 kg, you can slap on a TWM3R but not a Perm.) 2.5.1.!. This rule is excepted only if the motor is attached to the baseplate/chassis. However, the bot is still not excepted from section 2.5.2 of the regulations.2.5.2. You can't put more than double the weight of a motor on a motor. (So, on a TWM3R, we cannot put more than 60 kg on it.) 2.5.2.!. I don't give a sh** if the motor is externally attached or not - this rule still applies.2.5.3. No metal hinge wedges. 2.5.4. Wedges are defined as "lower" (touching the ground and/or placed on the lower part of a bot's chassis), and "upper" (placed on the top of a bot's chassis). 2.5.4.!. Irregardless of weight class, a robot may only employ one type of external wedge system. For example, if your bot has skirt hinge wedges, you can't use a burst motor wedge to go with it. Again, this applies to ALL weight classes, and has no limit on length.2.5.5. No "if we can cut a hole through it to make it work in real" BS, if a moving part intersects a still part, it ain't legal. (This means that pop-ups like Fast and Furious in NAR AI are not legal; however, Slashback in the original DSL 2.1 AI is perfectly legal since it isn't intersecting anything)3. Havok Explosions3.0. Should one robot have what is termed a "havok explosion", the other robots are allowed to have a free restart. Should it happen again, the robot will be removed and the match will restart without the havoking robot. 4. Misc. Regulations4.0. All competitors must have a good time. 4.1. All competitors may not bitch at the event administrator if the AI driver does a sucky job. 4.2. The event administration has any and all right to expand the bracket if there is enough demand. 4.3. Trash talking must remain as civilised as possible. 4.4. All competitors must agree to the regulations. 4.5. All competitors must have a good time. 4.6. All competitors must have a good time.

Hi
I is bad DSL builder ;_; Wat is better NPC (normal or fast, don't matter) x mini wheels, or TWM3R x Hypnodisc wheels? Assuming both use the same number of motors/wheels.
Secondly Y does other batteries exists? Ant Batteries r best, apparently, because every1 uses dem on all teh bot types, even popups and flipperz - wut

takatsuki-yayoi presents... Game Tech Mods Grand Touring ChampionshipWelcome one and all to the GTM Grand Touring Car Championship. Since the GTM Shootout 2011 event was really successful, I thought about starting up a whole series of races. The GTM-GTC is a series contested by powerful V8 American GT race cars at a number of both American and overseas racing circuits. Tracks such as the infamous Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, Daytona's road course, and even foreign tracks such as Suzuka Circuit. You will have until February 20th to submit/confirm your team data!Table of Contents 1.0 How to Enter 2.0 Driver Personalities 3.0 Cars List 4.0 Tracks List / Season Schedule 5.0 Points Distribution 6.0 Entries 7.0 Painting Files 1.0 How to Enter - NOTE: You can enter up to two drivers for your team. Try to keep the liveries mostly the same, but with a unique number for each driver. - Supply a driver name. You do not have to use your real name, just use something that sounds reasonably real. - Give a car number. The number must be whole and no more than three digits long. Examples: 03, 765, 2, 69. You cannot pick number 1. - Pick a car from section 3.0. You can pick from four: the Chevrolet Corvette C5, the Ford Mustang, the Dodge Viper, and the Jaguar XKR. - Pick a driver personality from section 2.0. You may only pick one for each driver, so choose carefully. - OPTIONAL: Use the painting stuff below to create your car's paint job. You need to have your car number on the side doors, hood/bonnet, and rear. - NOTE: If you suck at painting liveries, you can ask me to paint one for you. Let me know: Car colors, number, and main sponsor (if any). 2.0 Driver Personalities Here you can pick one driver personality from a set of many. This will determine how your AI driver tackles races. If you have two drivers, pick one for each of your drivers. - All in: You are infamous for your highly dangerous and risky racing style. While you might have many wins under your belt, you have many more race retirements and a massive backlog of repair bills up your arse too. - Hot Head: You're not scared of some dents and scratches on your car, and it shows. This gives you the upper hand in battle - but your hot-headedness makes consistency a real problem. Thankfully though, you can take care of yourself on the track - most of the time. - Time Attacker: When it comes down to raw lap times, not many come close to you. You breathe, sleep, and even piss speed. Problem is, you're so fixated on lap times that your overtaking skills suck ass. - Ridiculously Robotic Human: Like a robot hard at work on dangerous factory jobs, your driving style is pixel-perfect precise, giving you incredibly consistent lap times. However, your roboticness doesn't do you favors in qualifying. - Lucky: No matter if you just got involved in a 30-car pileup or went head-on into the pit wall at near top speed, you always seem to finish the race even when you really shouldn't. Problem is, you rely on this to win. - The Mario: So what if you don't specialize in something? Specialization breeds weakness in your eyes - which is why you're never one to be counted out no matter what the situation is. - The Strategist: You're obviously not the fastest, but what you lack in raw pace you make up for in clever strategies that quickly move you up the field. - Wrench Wench: You've got a thing for doing all sorts of awesome demon tweaks under the hood - as a result, even if you technically suck, your mechanical genius makes you a force to be reckoned with. 3.0 Cars List - Chevrolet Corvette (C5) - Ford Mustang (2003) - Jaguar XKR - Dodge Viper 4.0 Season Schedule 1) Silverstone Circuit 2) Brands Hatch Circuit 3) Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps 4) Suzuka Circuit 5) Laguna Seca Raceway 6) Portland International Raceway 7) Mosport International Raceway 8) Indianapolis International Speedway - Oval 9) Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course 10) Watkins Glen International - "the Boot" layout 11) Lime Rock Park - no chicanes 12) Sebring International Raceway 13) Daytona International Speedway - Road Course 14) Circuit de la Sarthe (aka "Le Mans")5.0 Points Distribution 1st = 50 points 2nd = 45 points 3rd = 40 points 4th = 37 points 5th = 34 points 6th = 31 points 7th = 28 points 8th = 25 points 9th = 22 points 10th = 19 points 11th = 16 points 12th = 13 points 13th = 10 points 14th = 8 points 15th = 6 points 16th = 5 points 17th = 4 points 18th = 3 points 19th = 2 points 20th = 1 point Retire = 0 points 6.0 Entries Number of users and teams: 16 users confirmed, 10 teams (only two-car teams count as "teams") Number of drivers: 25 confirmed Number of Fords: 7 Number of Chevrolets: 10 Number of Dodges: 7 Number of Jaguars: 2 KEY: Entry fully completed and working in NR2003Entry has completed/submitted liveryEntrant has said they will submit a livery, but haven't done so yetNothing but entry data has been submitted (Car # - Driver Name - Car Model - Sponsor and/or Team Name) #17 Vladmir Hydrov (The Strategist) - Ford Mustang - Team Hydrov (Hydro)#95 Jonzu the Unbeatable (Hot Head) - Ford Mustang - Pokemon Race Team (Jonzu95)#50 Mio Sakamoto (Ridiculously Robotic) - Dodge Viper - Mecha-Loli Autosport (TakatsukiYayoi)#808 Miku Hatsune (All In) - Dodge Viper - Mecha Loli Autosport (TakatsukiYayoi)#501 Yoshika Miyafuji (Lucky) - Dodge Viper - Mecha-Loli Autosport (TakatsukiYayoi)#47 Badnik Ninetysix (The Strategist) - Chevrolet CorvetteDodge Viper - Mars Race Team (Badnik96)#74 Strike Archer (Hot Head) - Dodge Viper - Mars Race Team (Badnik96)#92 Andrew Baker (Hot Head) - Ford Mustang - Baker Motorsports (HurricaneAndrew) #02 Jeff Baker (Wrench Wench) - Ford Mustang - Baker Motorsports (HurricaneAndrew)#21 Nick Forrest (The Strategist) - Chevrolet Corvette - North Star Racing (NFX) #49 Max Betancourt (Hot Head) - Chevrolet Corvette - North Star Racing (NFX)#16 Alex Harrison (Wrench Wench) - Dodge Viper - Team CWG (SKBT) #14 Willy Makeit (All in) - Dodge Viper - Team CWG (SKBT)#343 KePo Killan (Hot Head) - Chevrolet Corvette - Kill343gs Racing (kill343gs) #7 Mario Androidy (Ridiculously Robotic) - Dodge Viper - Kill343gs Racing (kill343gs)#51 Joey Bloe (Time Attacker) - Chevrolet Corvette - URT (JoeBlo) #15 Damon Mack (Ridiculously Robotic) - Chevrolet Corvette - URT (JoeBlo)#55 Brandon Barnes (Time Attacker) - Jaguar XKR - Dragon Racers (Doomkiller)#69 Dustin Rockso (The Strategist) - Ford Mustang - Team Toki (ThisDude069) #71 William Murderface (All In) - Ford Mustang - Team Toki (ThisDude069)#77 Pathmir Fost (Time Attacker) - Jaguar XKR - Kamikazi Cactus (Jack Daniels)#23 Alex Larrain (Strategist) - Chevrolet Corvette - Liervaik Motorsports (Larrain) #38 Juan Lopez (Wrench Wench) - Chevrolet Corvette - Liervaik Motorsports (Larrain)#5 Jack Smith (The Strategist) - Chevrolet Corvette - Team RCT3 (GroudonRobotWars) #83 Jason Ngyuen (Hot Head) - Chevrolet Corvette - Team RCT3 (GroudonRobotWars)#99 Foe Tepex (Wrench Wench) - Ford Mustang - Team Xtreemer (FOTEPX) #999 The Xtreemer (All in) - Ford Mustang - Team Xtreemer (TeamXtreemer)*temporary stand-ins 7.0 Painting Files Painting Templates (PSD): https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/Trans-Am-Templates.zip PNG Overlays: https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/Paintjob Overlays.zipCar Viewer: http://www.racelinecentral.com/NR2003_tools.html(look for "carviewer.zip" - I am not allowed to hotlink) Models for Car Viewer: http://www.masgrafx.com/racing/index.php?module=Downloads&func=prep_hand_out&lid=4057

Hi all, By some miracle I had the prizes and .psd files for the bracket backed up elsewhere, so that got me thinking about restarting Micro Mayhem. All of the regulations from the original thread will still apply. For those of you (of the original 25 entrants) who want to get revenge, this might be a good opportunity.

Hello GTM forum members,
If you viewed any of the Micro Mayhem rounds you might have noticed that there are some small AI mistakes that I have unintentionally left in. Most notable of these included System32's Sit-n-Spin, "Twist and Turn 2", chasing and pushing rival bots instead of sitting and spinning, which cost him the tournament.
I believe that if one is to lose a tournament that his bot should be genuinely not as good as the bots that have defeated it; not because of the incompetence of the event administration. Well, that's exactly what happened to poor System32's bot. Because of my incompetence in AI binding editing/development, the bot didn't behave as S32 intended.
Because of my stupidity, ignorance, or what have you, someone got screwed over. Not only did I disappoint myself, I let down S32 and now he probably wants my ass in a grinder for what happened.
So, I post this as a public apology to the viewers of the Micro Mayhem tournament, to System32, and to whomever else I may have screwed over because of my incompetence.
TLDR: I did something stupid. I would like to ask for you guys to accept my apology.
Regards, Yayoi.

Finally after a week of forcing you to wait, Micro Mayhem\'s event administrators are proud to present the event! For those of you with weak connections, I will post a rather vague synopsis of each of the matches, so you can get an idea of what happens without spoiling anything. Each match is also rated on a 5 point scale, 0 meaning that you should\'nt even bother watching, 5 being a crowning moment of awesome. Of course, if you want to skip straight to conclusions, you can just highlight the text right under it. Enough talk, the eliminator round will start Sunday! Bracket UPDATED AFTER ROUND TWO: https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/40134mmbracket-round3.jpgSplash: https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/6081mmsplash.jpgMatch Videos--Eliminator Round-- Smart Box may have a decent weapons rack, but is that enough to compensate for the fact that it\'s slower than a dead snail stuck in Gorilla Glue? Definitely not. Toxin Ant KOs Smart Box with 1:19 left on the clock. This match was so one-sided it isn\'t funny for even a little bit.--First Round-- Intro BGM - The Road to... from Dynasty Warriors 4 Soundtrack HEAT A BGM - Defeat The Biobliteratory from Ratchet and Clank : Up Your Arsenal soundtrack A less than stellar way to begin the main bracket, though the one who scores the only KO in this match may come as a surprise to some. Wooden Wonder scores a KO; That Lil\' Something is COUNTED OUT; Hornet Scout survived; Be Drilled is KO\'d by Wooden Wonder.HEAT B BGM - Orpheus by Ash from Burnout 3: Takedown soundtrack So what exactly happens when you pit a flail spinner, a vertical spinner, a so-called "Longhorn Clone", and a face spinner? Well, it\'s pretty exciting stuff. Nobody gets left out of the carnage and if anyone\'s going down it will be in an absolutely spectactular style. There is no such thing as a "safe spot" or an "actionless time" in this people - you probably should NOT miss out on this. Dynasty is KO\'d by Manic Thing; Metallic Molecule survives; Manic thing scores TWO KOs; Less than 5 seconds survives for much longer than 5 seconds, but it\'s still KO\'d by Manic thing ANYWAY.HEAT C BGM - I Ain\'t Your Savior by Bullets & Octane from Motorstorm Pacific Rift soundtrack What a mouthful of names! You really have to wonder if people were REALLY scraping the barrel with original names for their robots. Bot names aside, this fight is a little slow on the action, what with some bots getting tangled and others having slow spinup times - but at least the match is short for it not to be too boring. Chemical Warfare is INCAPITATED by Dom the Grizzly Mk. II; Twist and Turn 2 is KO\'d by Micro Launch Platform Plus; Micro Launch Platform Plus scores a KO; Dom the Grizzly INCAPITATES Chemical Warfare.HEAT D BGM - Living American by No Connection from Flatout original soundtrack Fast and FURIOUS! Blink and you might miss it. Get Hammered is KO\'D by 86; Mini Maniac gets COUNTED OUT; 86 scores a KO; Karrot Krammer survives.HEAT E BGM - Live 135 by patientzero from Midnight Club II soundtrack With a lineup like this you would think things are a bit more spectacular. But it isn\'t quite the knockout-fest you were expecting. Action can seem a bit on the slow side, but thanks to some powerful weaponary, the match is kept below the two minute time limit. Froggi is COUNTED OUT; Longhorn is INCAPITATED by Enturon; Enturon INCAPITATES Longhorn; Hard Hat survives.HEAT F BGM - Demolition Racer by Emperion from Demolition Racer Several underweight bots, a rammer that is hard as to drive, and a theoretical facespinner that can\'t seem to move... all a good recipe for a boring, dragged out match. That waiting was all for nothing, I guess. Little Tim Whammy is COUNTED OUT; Black Box survives; Robotic W0rm is COUNTED OUT; Toxin Ant survives.--Second Round-- Intro BGM - Warrior\'s Dance by The Prodigy from DiRT2 soundtrack HEAT A BGM - Lost Weekend by The Qemists **WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS** from DiRT2 soundtrack Sounds like an alright match looking at the lineup, but all the damage is dealt steadily over time instead of in big doses; makes for a looooong two minutes if you ask me. Previous recordings ended exactly the same way. Wooden Wonder is KICKED OUT.HEAT B BGM - Animal-type Boss theme from R-TYPE DELTA Two fairly powerful spinners, a pop-up. It sounds like a pretty funny matchup, doesn\'t it? TEN SECONDS! TEN SECONDS! THAT\'S ALL DOM THE GRIZZLY LASTED!HEAT C BGM - Final boss theme (Escape!!!) from R-TYPE III: The Third Lightning Hmm, a overpowered vertical spinner and two rammers. In a 3-way brawl like this, someone is going to end up getting ganged up on... it\'s over, much quicker than you might think... Karrot Krammer gets krammed by 86.HEAT D BGM - Gallows - I Dread the Night **WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS** from Need For Speed SHIFT soundtrack You would think that Black Box, being InfiniteInertia\'s bot, would surely delivery a one hit kill. Sadly, that\'s not the case. But it does still end in a spectacular fashion, with a nice slow-mo and creepy "Stage complete" music from R-TYPE FINAL to set said nice slow-mo to. BANG! Toxin Ant gets CRIPPLED by Hard Hat.See you in the arena! Yayoi Takatsuki.

The Event Administration of the Micro Mayhem tournament have realised that well before the deadline that there are now 18 competitors of which will compete. Because the Event Administration will be busy over the weekend, the Event Administration would like to ask all competitors if it is okay to start the tournament early.
10 votes of "YESZ!" are required.

Not too long ago, in a land not so far away, bugs would battle for complete supremacy of the land. With the rise of new technologies and techniques, these tiny warriors would rage and wage war for months. That has long passed, but the technology is still there. But peacetime has bored our insectoid neighbors, and now want some entertainment. Remembering the days of war, they erected a tiny arena for which to do combat on: they called it, the Small Arena. Begging the humans to satisfy their lust for small-scale mass destruction, the bugs asked for a robot combat tournament to be held. Welcome to Micro Mayhem. This tournament will be taking place in none other than the Small Arena by Click and Firebeetle, and as the name suggests, this is an Beetleweights only event. The minimal number of competitors have signed up.The deadline now begins! START BUILDING!!!SIGNUPS ARE NOW CLOSED.Below are a list of entrants and the regulations for the event format. Rule clarifications are in blue.Important revisions to rules are in red.REGULATIONS: 1. BOTS AND ROBOT ARENA 2 MODS 1.0. All participating bots will be using DSL 2.1 components. 1.1. All bots must obey the realistic rule. 1.2. All bots must weigh under 175.1 kg. 1.3a. Only static components that are not motors, batteries, or control boards can be intersecting. 1.3b. Stacking static components of any type, however, is not allowed. 1.4. Bots must have two or more wheels. 1.5. Multibots are not allowed. Well, in this weight class they aren't good anyway... why bother. 1.6. All bots must have at least one battery. 1.7. It is allowed to send in custom AI bindings as long as nothing weird occurs. The Event Administrators are looking at you, Madiaba! 1.8. Bot file editing is only allowed for chassis modification. Even then, the bot must meet all regulations set.2. EVENT FORMAT 2.0. All matches will be conducted with four competing robots. 2.1. The bracket will be composed of 16 competitors. 2.2. As soon as two bots are incapitated, the match ends. 2.3. All matches are two minutes. 2.4. The arena will be the "Small Arena". 2.5. There is only one match for each bot per round. 2.6. The minimum number of entries before a deadline is posted is 8. 2.7. If interest is not enough, the event administration might enter his own bot. Mind you, it sucks. 3. HAVOK EXPLOSIONS 3.0. Tied rankings will be determined by KO count. 6.2. The first round of 24 competitors will be a four-way rumble, with first two bots in their respective matches incapitated being eliminated. 6.3. The second round of 12 competitors will be a THREE-way rumble, with the first bot being eliminated ending the match. 6.4. The third round of 8 competitors will be a four-way rumble following section 6.2. 6.5. The final round of 4 competitors will be a four way rumble, in the standard "last man standing wins" format. Thread where you can rant off or discuss four-banger Obongomobiles. (Would you call it that ACAMS ?)
Am I the only one who thinks the Camry is horrendously dull even for a dull Jap four-banger?

As the thread title suggests, ALL bots that I post in this thread SUCK. I will admit that I do not know how to stack. I will admit that I cannot beat EMERGENCY with a LW. I will admit that my stock bots have more empty space than space itself. But enough of me admitting things, here's an absolutely appalling LW HS:

Hi,
With the sound of the "unofficial" weight classes (BW/AW/SHW) becoming official for DSL 3.0, I wonder if there might be rival BW/AW/SHW bots with the "theme" of the original stock bot teams? It could be pretty cool, although if this isn't in DSL 3.0, that's okay, too.

New builder here, and probably not a very good one (yet?). I've only had the game for about three weeks, running DSL mod only one week. So, you're going to see a whole lot of bots that'll probably get turned into scrap in about 5 seconds. My personal preference is to try to build reasonably realistic bots. Therefore, I don't know anything about glitches that could allow me to make uberpowerful bots. So here's my first DSL bot, "RECORD BREAKER" (because of how easily it can be killed): It's durability is horrific even though I've used 1mm titanium armour. If the weapon isn't "in use" (in other words, me holding on the buttons to operate the weapon), the bot can _barely_ even move. Basically, that means I have to rely on bots getting close to my bot so it can fly around (by using the weapon like some sort of helicopter blade... o_O).
