I'm mostly worried about of Forum Reputation... It looks like, I'm not respectable Member here... :ermm:

As I've told you over and over, that rating DOES NOT REFLECT your actual respect. Stop taking it seriously.

I agree with everyone except Jonzu (Stop whining. You offered to do Metal Mayhem. So do it. The way reputation icnreases is by EARNING it by doing those kinda things, and not complaining every 3 minutes about not being AU or having a +637628 reputation.)

Anyway. The majority of the people that come here now are just people who get nostalgic about Robot Wars or Battlebots, then discover the game from there. Hence the age of those involved. I loved RW as a kid, but I never forgot it, and eventually found RA2 last year. But, I do agree, the forum is strangely Junk-Yard-Based, which isn't good in my opinion. It's a Robot Arena 2 forum, not some other stuff. There are millions of other forums for non-robot-combat stuff. Of course n00bs will join, all we can do is try to supervise their growth into decent members. I was a n00b when I joined just over a year ago, now I like to think of myself as a decent member. We have to support each others growth and development as community members and players of this game as, let's be quite honest, as frezal said, it's dying. The fact there is a community, to me, is miraculous, especially one of this size.

Just my 2 cents. Disagree or agree as you will, lol, in fact I expect to see my reputation collapse from this post onwards. Do as you will. Just take what I said into consideration.

Jonzu. We don't want you to leave. YOU are not the problem at all. You just keep misunderstanding things. That reputation figure means NOTHING. NOTHING. I've told you before to stop taking it seriously. I respect you, and I'm pretty sure quite a lot of people do more than they let on. Your tournaments have been great so far. I see no reason why you should leave, and I don't think anybody else does either.

Ok then, i never smiley spammed once, yeah graned i made some fail tourneys, im not denying that, but at least i diddnt set my account up and abandon them, yeah i abandoned XTY because i knew people diddnt want to see it... but the fact of the matter is, i aren't a massive noob anymore. yeah, dometimes a can be, but the 12 year olds do sometimes help this forum, heck. this forum's lasted 6 years! granted, people like sparkey can be annoying, but he is 12. so think what you think, but at least the forum isnt full of 4 year olds.

Is that why you did it? I think they did want to see it, or they wouldn't have entered.

this discussion has gone all over the place and many aspects are contradicting???

now from what I can gather there is the following points made...

  • people who dislike the mass of off topic posting in the junkyard compared to on topic
  • people who want less spam or a higher post quality
  • people who dont want new players starting tournaments or mods
  • people who dont want people asking stupid questions or coming up with stupid ideas (this can be based on your opinions)
correct ?

so massive floor right here is you want more RA2 related posted but you dont want any inexperienced players making tournaments, mods, asking things or suggesting things....

so what is it you want people to actually do besides post in the junkyard ?

see the problem ? (I do)

perhaps less friction between yourself's will stop so many "evacuating" to off topic sections? all work together towards a common goal rather then fighting?

Im not saying this is every single one of you but I can take a good guess that over 50% of you post something negative towards someone else at least once a week.

something to think about, community degradation is done by the majority not a select group  ;)

I agree, although I think it may be less 'not wanting' the new players to do stuff, more wanting them to know about things before they do them. We know what the tournaments can end up like, and they should know too, just so they know how things go wrong, and what is a good idea/has been done before, etc.

we have plenty of preventions towards bad tournaments now.. so there is no need for them in this discussion, majority chooses what goes through.

but my point remains.. if its a stupid idea, silly tournament, etc why do so many on here bite peoples face off ? when I started CC1 the original ruleset was fail... someone could have flamed me and I would have packed up and left then and there but instead SB helped me fix them up... so again I say its other manor and not so much the new members.

dont like something tell someone, dont spam TLT everywhere, tell people to leave, shut up, etc just nudge them into the right direction, you get more progress out of people when you treat them nicer

(this post isnt directed at you craaig)

It just seems many people lack the motivation to become better builders. I recently saw something in a signature (can't remember whose it was) that said "Put this in your sig if you think decent bots are good enough."

This kinda stuff saddens me. I know we pushed the learning curve pretty steep, which is why I provided video tutorials that help people keep up, and why Clickbeetle created his website page for ra2 techniques.

Oh well, I guess people enjoy Story Time too much to be bothered to learn how to build.

@ Frezal. Point taken. Just stating my opinion, and showing that someone does "give a sh**" about the quality of the forum.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.
