What i'm worried about is the high amount of people joining to only post in the junk yard, some don't even have RA2 which is what this forum is mainly about.

Or the HUGE amount of people who join then DO NOTHING. Can't we have a min. post requirement, you must post X times or you account will not be registered fully. Kinda like a trial run of new members.

@Sage & Ian: In my opinion, there isn't anything terribly wrong with getting a few new members every now and then. As many have said before, think of it this way. An old outdated, non existant game is once again gaining a community. It's quite a phenomenon.  Now I do question the purpose of the "Story Time Threads" as it would relate to RA2 - Personally I think one offtopic thread would be enough. Just like the old forum.

But in that regard, I'm sure there are people who sign up here because of their interest in the game (or at least I hope). In a sense, this community, no matter how "N00b Infested" is really the only thing keeping the essence of Robot Arena alive. And if there are some new people who are trolling, let em'. We have a good staff who are more than willing to keep them in check. We're obviously doing something right to keep having new members join.

EDIT: I do however wish that there was a section on our forum that allows people to introduce themselves. Most forums have some sort of "Introduce Yourself" thread. I feel if we include one, it will solve a lot of issues. I also personally think that people who just join the community shouldn't have the privilege to create a tournament thread at all - not even an idea for one. Atleast until maybe after a month or so that option could be available. I agree that it could be a pain to see someone who no one knows try to make one.

Who gives a sh**? It's a 7 year old bargain bin game. Just be glad that a community even exists.
Agreed.

I'm mostly worried about of Forum Reputation... It looks like, I'm not respectable Member here... :ermm:

It's just the Dawn thing that others don't like. You're fine besides that.

When I joined, I was one of those people. Everyone hated me, but I got better to some degree (my botting skill sucks, but I don't spam or not listen to advice).

I have no idea what some people talking about  sparkey, freeziez and co. have no positive impact on the forum in my view.. only negative and if they were to leave it wouldn't hurt the community in anyway. we have lot's of members who do still love the game like Click, Joe and Sage who are doing so much more for us then all these "n00bs" could ever do... great robots, great tournaments, great mods and so on.

Also veterans try and help people like sparkey, yet sparkey and co. don't seem to improve or listen most of the time instead they run off to the junk yard section to spam smileys pointlessly.. makes me wonder why anyone would bother with them at all.

It really isn't hard to make decent bots that are somewhat original especially after being a member here for like 8 months. maybe you can move their showcases to the junk yard since that's what most all of sparkey's showcase is anyway.

this isn't me raging, just speaking my mind (ok maybe I lost a match on SC2) but surely we can brighten up the forum a little bit instead of letting it sink into the junk yard section.

ahem...I played RA2 long before the arcade popped up  :yaya) , I didn't post back then mostly due to what i perceived as a particularly hostile environment.  That, and as I said before, if i don't have anything new to add to a conversation, i'd rather just keep my mouth shut.

The 'hostile environment'?  Truly was me misinterpreting some things i read when i was lurking.  Won't say what those things were because it really doesn't matter.

Anyway, Don't blame the 12 year olds, there are noobs of every age.  And there are plenty of younglings who will suprise you.  You gotta take the bad with the good.  And remember, boys and girls, Just because you haven't seen someone doesn't mean they don't know what's going on.  Some of us lurk for quite some time before we do anything...

And yeah, the fact there's a community at all is pretty amazing.
Survival of the Fittest Is Finished!  Congratulations 090901

Okay, then leave. This is assuming that was a serious comment.

Agree with Ian. It's become an RA2 forum where 80% of the posts have little to do with the game. The section that should have the most posts (Stock/DSL Showcase) by far, is beaten out by the Junk Yard. Story time is the most useless thing I've ever seen. There's maybe 5 builders where I actually enjoy looking in their showcase, while the rest don't have any inclination to get better and reject our advice. (See, Sparkey's 90 page 0 good bot showcase)

If you don't want to get better at building or modding OR you want to but are too young to know whats going on, get off the RA2 forum.

I don't even build anymore :p

EXACTLY what topics like this create.....a hostile environment.

Those of you that don't like a certain section.....you can block it and you will never even know it is there!!

I REALLY don't like you members acting like you are better than other members and showing a snooty attitude.....that is not very friendly, you know!

This forum is for EVERYBODY.....even Sparkey (and god knows he pisssssesss me off all the time)

That said, I don't really want to see any more topics like this....or very much more discussion in this one, or I will be worried about the forums direction.
