Yes, any light oil will work, but what ever you do don't use steel wool, sand paper or ANY abrasive as it will remove the patina and it's value.

Wait until you can get a bottle of hoppes solvent to remove the buildup in the bolt AND barrel. (inside that is)
Wipe all metal parts with light oil and a paper towel....lightly!
