But yours has positive externalities unlike ours.  (A functioning robot and a technical knowledge I probably won't match in my lifetime)

Just reading some PS1 instruction manuals...
« Reply #10866 on: June 03, 2011, 11:41:02 PM »
And only recently have I noticed how thick they are. I mean, the instruction manual for CRASH 3 is - get this - 152 PAGES! ARE YOU FREAKIN' HIGH? IT'S A CRASH GAME!

Another weird thing, A good 5 pages of EVERY instruction manual are dedicated to either tech support or the most basic stuff. You open the Crash 3 manual 'HOW TO PUT THE GAME IN HYENYEHYEHYEH.' I'm not kidding, they really thought we were THAT dumb that we wouldn't know how to put a PS1 game in.

'HYEH WELL WHAT YA GOTTA DO IS YA GOTTA PICK THE GAME UP WIT YO HANDS THEN YOU GOTTA PRESS THE BIG BUTTON THAT SAYS OPEN THEN YA PUT THE GAME IN AND SHUT THE LID THEN YA GOTTA PRESS DA START BUTTON AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVEN'T DROOLED OVER YOUR CONSOLE TO THE POINT OF ELECTRICUTION HYURRRRRRR DURRRRRRRR....'

You get the picture.

An Actual extract:-

'GETTING STARTED

Make sure the power is off before inserting or removing a compact disc. Insert the CHESSMASTER II disc and close the Disc Cover. Insert game controllers and turn on the PlayStation game console. After opening cinematics are completed, the main board screen appears. (You can press the X button to skip the opening movie and bring up the Main Board).

Memory Card

A memory card (sold separately) is required to save your saved games and custom personalities. Insert a memory card into memory card slot 1 on the PlayStation game console before starting play. Do not remove a memory card whilst saving or loading games; doing so could damage game data. To save a game, acess the Main Menu with the Start button and select that option.'

You see what I mean? They treat you like drooling idiots.

The only instruction manual I like is the one for Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction and Runabout 2. Some really HD pictures of Sir Killalot and the crew in there, and in Runabout 2, it's only 7 pages long.

And the most humorous one? Pokemon Blue/Red Trainer Guide.

I can post there :/

Ya, for some reason I can't fathom, members with "Roboteer" status get all sorts of cool toys that Advanced Users don't, such as the rep buttons.
Indeed- and I'm still waiting to become an AU. Probably some reasons for not being so already, but hopefully next time the elections come round, my time will come.
What makes you think you deserve AU status?
- Am quite skilled at Stock Building

Meh, I've been around a much shorter time and if we get that match between you, me, SOTG and Hydro up and running we'll just see who's the better builder.
Either that or I may beat you in Replica Wars 3 with any luck :P

If I'd had musical tools, Pyrotechnics and a backing Latin Choir, I'd sing a Villain Song about it. Still, there's a couple reasons. They persist mainly in the fact that-

- I've been around longer than several users on here (Initially joining in 2007)
- Actively contributed wherever I've been able to
- Had a reasonable degree of tournament success
- Am quite skilled at Stock Building
- Hold a good degree of respect amongst several of the younger users
- And you've got to admit, I have improved in terms of behaviour over time, don't you think?

So yes, not saying that I definitely should have it, but I do think that I should be considered for it next time the voting comes around.

Yes, well, considering I havn't got AU yet, you still have some time to wait there GF :P
GF has been around longer.

Signup time can be misleading, GF93 actually became a "regular" in 2009 (I think), after he realised he didn't need to sign up to download the stuff. I joined in August 2009, but became a regular in around April 2010. It's not about how long you've been here, it's about the quality of your contributions to the boards. I was only a "regular" for around eight months before I was awarded AU.
Wow, seems  most of you joined then lurked. I was fairly regular straight off.
Better than GK since 2009.
I think SM is a pretty cool guy, eh builds unicycle-bots and doesn't afraid of anything

The point is, you don't want to be going off-topic too much, or generally acting stupid, because that tends not to go over too well with the powers that be. Also, for some added irony, those who ask for AU tend not to get AU.
Although I have to say, I have been improving a lot on those fronts, lately. I've been trying to contribute to discussions wherever I can, cutting the "Off-topicness", and trying to be better behaved than before. Also, I wasn't outright demanding it- more suggesting that I be considered next time the voting comes around  =D
