GF, actions are a much better way of seperating good and bad people, not some pointless number system. I can understand where you're coming from, but if you just ignore your rep, and go about helping out newbies and giving them good advice, then your respect will grow, even if your reputation doesn't follow suit.

Well, I've got to look like a good user amongst all these Superheavies. The newer users see it as an indication of which ones are good people to trust and ask advice from. I want to do what I can to serve that purpose, and all you're doing is getting in my ****ing way.

But that's the thing, really. I tend not to get involved too greatly in the RA2 aspect of things (I do, but not as often as some, you could say), so it's a bit harder for me to get it back up again when it does go down. Even still, it's usually after I've tried to do something major. And suddenly, when one (or several) spiteful little bastard(s) downrates me, it's suddenly forgotten, and only my negatives are ever focussed on when it's brought up. Wierd, Obnoxious, Attention-seeking, Don't belong here, Cowardly, Worthless, etc.
 
Sometimes, I wonder what the point in it all is.

There isn't one. That's what I've been trying to tell you. Reputation is completely irrelevant, in the grand scheme of things. If you just didn't mention it at all, then I guess people would stop downrating you, as it would not be brought up nearly as much.

Agreed. It doesn't mean anything. But to some people it is a form of acceptance. There seems to be quite a few members here that are dying for acceptance because they have low self esteem. Stemming from low acceptance IRL.

People need to learn that the best energy in life comes from knowing that the only person that truly needs to accept you is YOU.  Alas, some are too young to learn that life lesson. (yet)
