I think the welcome boards are open to Staff and I'll guess Veterans as well, just to keep the off-topic to an absolute minimum. Greetings from the kinda higher-ranking members, few pointers to start them off in the right direction, and they're in. Shouldn't be much to it other than that.

Yeah, I guess so.

I suppose a post telling a newbie that I hope they enjoy their time here, and then mentioning how advice from long term players could be attained by hanging out around General Discussion, and how examples of other builders work to learn from is in the showcases, conveniently one section below there is completely OT and deserving of such a harsh punishment.

Its not as if I cussed, abused the rep box, hacked the forums, or did any of the other BS I could have done, all I attempted to do was be kind and accepting of a newer member to the forums by pointing him to the proper locations to get help and Guidance. I'll just keep in mind that I'm not capable of greeting a new member of the forum for any reason from now on, regardless of how on-topic, relevant, and helpful my post is.

There are other members who can give out said advice. It's more of a precedent than actual rule-breaking, I reckon. If we allowed everyone to post in the Newcomers section, then it would just be flooded with spam like it was before ACAMS cleared it up. With the restricted access, there's much less a risk of spam building up, if being posted at all.

THATS actually why I'm probably so mad, I'd understand if I was completely and utterly offtopic and being useless, but 75% for an OT AND useful reply?

Well then I apologize for being so careless?

My only intent was to greet a newbie in a fully reasonable manner, I was not attempting to piss you off, nor would I have ever done it if I knew I was going to be punished harshly, if at all, for attempting to greet him.

EDIT: I guess complaining works? I still will not do it again but Thankyou ACAMS.
