I would guess you either have:
A) A virus of some sort
B) A dying hard drive
C) Defective touchpad/mouse

Nah, my PC wouldn't be able to run Vista. Been running XP since the day I got it. But it's 10 years old, I was expecting it to die sooner or later.

Running CHKDSK at startup? Finding bad sectors? Back your stuff up while you still can. =D

Mostly just shutting down and finding 'serious errors' and the cpu usage for most things is through the roof.
No disk checking or anything of that sort yet :P
