And I was wondering whether it's worth spending the money for that when I could buy an alternator conversion or twin pancake air-filters, or twin carbs.

I will feed you my automotive upgrade wisdom...

"Do not deliberate over which upgrade you should or shouldn't get.  Instead, focus on which one you should buy first and which one you should buy second."
I was just wondering whether I want a sport exhaust, when what I've got would work fine.

Ultimately, aim to do it all.

BTW, the reason I haven't been active on the forums much lately (or building bots for that matter):

Bunch of pics in Spoiler.  Basically, I am doing a massive teardown on my RX7 to clean it up.  I put it away in the garage in '05 because I ran out of time and money to keep it on the road.  My goal is to have it cleaned up and running again by next year.  I was sick of the ugly stained stock carpet in the car, so I removed it.  I'm probably going to spray the interior with bedliner instead and wipe everything out but the essentials to lighten the load.  So far I have removed about 100 pounds of unnecessary crap to offset the 100+ pounds of car audio that I usually have installed.  Started doing body work this past week... and the car is in terrible need of a new paintjob.  :P

Holy sh**... You do realize there are people that would pay damn good money for that car in the shape it's currently in, right?

Anyway, here's a list of questions about every picture...

First picture. I spy a stack of Hoosier drag slicks... What might those be for?

Second picture. I am assuming that is the rotary engine. Very costly to repair and get parts for. Is it in good running condition?

Third picture. Stereo system... Lots of questions on this one.
What size and size are the subs and amps?
How old are the subs?
What is there maximum wattage they will handle?
How long have they gone unused?

No further questions...

The car looks great, but it has three things against it that lower the value.
-It's not a manual transmission (which sucks) I might convert it over to a manual someday... but that will take a lot of time and money.
-The engine was replaced shortly before I bought it.  So, the serial numbers don't match. I have no idea how many miles are on the replacement... though I should get the VIN off it and carfax it at some point.
-This is the non-turbo version of the car.  Personally I like the NA version better and it's one less thing to break on the car.

Overall, there isn't a spot of rust on the car which is nice.  I love the car, so I probably wont get rid of it any time soon.

Anyway, here's a list of questions about every picture...

First picture. I spy a stack of Hoosier drag slicks... What might those be for?

For this:

Sadly it is retired though... Shut down the race team this spring because the owner is getting too old to call it fun.

Second picture. I am assuming that is the rotary engine. Very costly to repair and get parts for. Is it in good running condition?

When I parked it in '05 it ran awesome.  However, sitting dormant for 7 years probably was not kind on the seals... I imagine it will explode.   I have to put in a solid battery and swap out the alternator to fire it up again. Might do that next week.  Crate rotaries are pretty cheap btw and I haven't had too hard a time getting parts at a reasonable price for this one.

Third picture. Stereo system... Lots of questions on this one.

Subs: 2 x 12" alphasonic 500 watts RMS 1000 watts peak.  Purchased in '04 only used for 1 year before the car was parked.
Amps:  1 Memphis MC1000D 1000 watt class D monoblock amp bridged to a 1ohm load powering both subs to exactly 500 watts each.
I was also running a JVC 4 channel amp to the midrange speakers... but that is all going to change.
The whole system was set up and run just a handful of times at carshows for 1 year before I parked it in the garage.

sitting dormant for 7 years

Mine's been non-running for 20 years. We're having to take apart absolutely everything...

...also, got a new steering wheel. Moto-Lita, £25. Absolute steal. I didn't realise how heavy the original steering wheel was until I took it off. I needed a new steering wheel because my legs are too big, and therefore so was the steering wheel. Now I can get into the car properly. However, there is still the matter of getting new seats so that my knee isn't in a position where it is fighting for space with the indicator.

No.  Just no.

What is the story?  How did you get it?

"Lower-Middle Class" family was getting rid of it (since they had three Ford products from 1970s sitting in their driveway).  By the sound of it, husband was a mechanic who kept it for no reason and the wife hated it and wanted it gone.

Lol, that's a dinosaur, and a ugly one at that. I do have another car, but it doesn't work atm and is sitting in my garage waiting until I can get a working motor for it. Here's the pic of it though.

Just FYI, my dinosaur has about the same power output as your asthmatic Corvette (30 more ft-lb, 30 less hp), and that's without the 4-barrel carb I'm gonna put in it.  That, and it's got two sofas in it for seats.  All that, plus the fact that it actually works.

It sure as Hell has power if it hasn't had the piss run out of it, but it needs it, because that car is built heavier than sh**.

I wouldn't do it, but I know people who would make that sucker into a derby car in a heartbeat.

My Trans am puts out has 240 more hp and 190 more torque based off of the numbers you listed. What are you trying to prove?

Besides, the corvette is just for looking nice, C3 corvettes are slow.

And it's made mostly of plastic and driven by the kind of people who pay for xbox live with welfare c.  That, and it doesn't have sofas for seats.

What are you trying to prove?

That your Corvette is a joke.
There isn't much to prove, though, if you have an adequate knowledge of cars.

Besides, the corvette is just for looking nice, C3 corvettes are slow.

Too bad you have the ugliest kind of C3 Corvette.  If you wan't a car that's slow and good looking, at least get one that's designed to be slow and good looking.

You know, like mine.

And it's made mostly of plastic and driven by the kind of people who   pay for xbox live with welfare c.  That, and it doesn't have sofas   for seats.

Speak for yourself, the car you got is driven mostly by old people and those who are unable to afford any newer cars and is more valuable as scrap metal. If you care so much about horsepower and torque so much like you did earlier, why didn't you get yourself a respectable old car that people actually like looking at such as a classic muscle car like a Barracuda or a Challenger? Then you can brag your car looks nicer and has more HP than mine and I would agree.

That your Corvette is a joke.
There isn't much to prove, though, if you have an adequate knowledge of cars.

And apparently you still don't know the difference between exhaust components let alone a decent short term memory for how much power certain engines put out.

Too bad you have the ugliest kind of C3 Corvette.  If you wan't a car   that's slow and good looking, at least get one that's designed to be   slow and good looking.

Your car is Fugly and something that old people with no sense of style drive. It wasn't designed to be slow and good looking, it was designed to be a car and it fails pretty badly at that. If you want something that is designed to be slow and good looking, get a parade float, though I don't think your momma would be able to afford one of those for you.

Or maybe you just like ugly cars but I don't know, so here is a picture to remind you of how ugly it is.
