New pc
« on: January 28, 2016, 02:36:14 PM »
Well I was meant to be getting a new pc today as my old one died a slow and horrible death :/ but it turns out that Halifax have a really damn good antifraud method so good that it won't let me buy my pc with my own card the cost is round £1,200 and I had to speak to a God damn automated machine for about half an hour which didn't bloody work.
These are the partshttps://secure.scan.co.uk/web/savedbasket/shareddetails/da22507dc56e4a12a5657b2e9f3c6a94 I have switched some of the parts around than what is saved there though. anyone recommend anything different?

Unless you're editing a ton of videos, you're probably not going to use a 3TB HDD. 1TB will suffice.

Pirate windows, honestly. £80 isn't worth it. Or at least buy Windows 7 for dirt cheap and get that free upgrade

Not sure where you live, but check around for deals before you buy, ESPECIALLY on your graphics card and to a lesser extent your CPU. Not sure where you're from, but /r/buildapcsales, /r/bapcsales, hotukdeals.com and most of all /r/hardwareswapUK are great places to get deals. The 970 I'm using right now I bought for £170 brand new on /r/hardwareswapUK.

If you're on a tighter budget, you're better off going for a gen 4 i5, therefore a cheaper mobo too, and maybe an r9 290x or r9 290 if you can find one. But if you're comfortable with the cost, that build looks just fine.

One note, 16GB of RAM is nice if you use chrome and a lot of tabs. Also, if you haven't already got one, a gaming mouse is really worth it. The most popular one right now (and the one I have been using since christmas) is the Logitech g502, but I'm not a massive fan. Take a look at the Zowie FK1 or Razer Deathadder too (only because the DA is on a 40% off sale on amazon atm, it's usually £30 more than all the other mice and just not worth it). A second monitor is a really nice investment too.

I would do that with Windows but last time I bought it for cheap it apparently stopped being genuine for no reason what so ever after 2 month aha.

I would do but I am a bit picky at what places I shop at, :P and the mouse I've had for the past 6 months is the g502 and I like it a lot, never really been into razer products.

i would get a second monitor if I had enough room but unfortunately I don't the monitor I have at the moment is a a 1080p LG monitor.

But I may end up upgrading that down the line. I was going to go for 16gb ram but at most I used to have about 4 tabs up on chrome and I can always get another 8gb stick of ram later on.

I don't like pirating as it's too risky at times I'm after windows 10 cos I had 7 last time, a positive with 10 is it will be able to link with my xbox one aswell.

Ewwww, that PSU ain't brilliant.
970 probably isn't the best value anymore either.

Also, you don't need to but all from one place but if you need to Aria PC are probably the cheapest.
I mean I put a partpicker list together with a better PSU and motherboard for about the same price. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/DKckFT
Better than GK since 2009.

dont forget you can upgrade to 10 from 7 for free before august. you may just want to get 10 though if you know you're going to be installing it afterwards however.

I mean yeah, normally when you pirate software, you do indeed end up pirating the software.

Don't upgrade to 10 if you don't want Microsoft spying on you more than they already do with 7 and 8 btw. If you're OK with the spying tho then go ahead and upgrade.
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

It's not great but 550W is sufficient for a 970. And I don't think there are better value cards on nVidia's side, thought you might find some better stuff on AMD's end.

Well it's just a generally a low tier PSU.
