I wouldn't recomend it. Agathis isn't the greatest tonewood and the tremolo is unlocked. It also generally looks a fairly average instrument with the bolt on neck. I'd try and get one of the LTD starter models due to the 24 fret neck and basswood body; Basswood is used even on some truly amazing instruments like Music Man Petrucci's, so it's reputable tonewood.

The LTD Viper 10 also weighs comparatively little due to the Basswood body. Specs are otherwise very similar and it's a very customizable guitar at the price-point of £160

The guitar I started the thread about was sold within 10 minutes of me clicking "post". Is the guitar you have told me about good for rock and metal?

Sure is. Tell us your budget and I could suggest some others within it.

So you prefer the exact same price from eBay over a new one from Thomann? Right...

Just because the one you tried sucked; the lower price ones are apparently very good for the price point.

On the subject of Ibanezeseseses, I bought a second-hand Ibanez Gio the other day, with a quite wide but shallow gash in the neck behind the 12th fret. It still plays well, and was 85 quid, was that good?

A few months ago I picked up a Ibanez Soundgear IJXB190 bass (not my picture:

It was 85 euros, but it had some paint damage. Still love it :)

(yes, I play bass, and I play piano)

Thomann is still more reliable. and professional.
I own an Ibanez RG320PG. Decent guitar, but the Edge III it has is frankly awful.

Edge 3?
A double locking tremolo system like a Floyd Rose, but made of subpar materials and lacking tuning stability.

If you want some a small amp and a strap, then the second one.
I would still buy from Thomann because it's much simpler than eBay.
