Is it supposed to sound so distorted?

What's disorted?
Basically, distortion in music occurs when the tops and bottoms of the wavelengths are chopped off. This is how the music industry is accomplishing the loudness war.

Also known as clipping. Occurs when you feed sound that is too loud into a mixing device.

In case there's still confusion, listen to Nine Inch Nails. Just about everything Trent Reznor does is heavily distorted.

i wanna go ahead and say that's just a little bit different - he himself is an audio engineer iirc and would probably never release something where the tracks are clipping, it's audio 101

He definitely knows how to do it right, but everything is still heavily distorted.

Distortion is ok in moderation.  It can really give a track some kick, but if there's too much it just sounds awful.

I'm actually pretty good with mastering stuff.  I've had to wrestle with the loudness of alot of my songs.

Ok, when I first saw the title to the thread I thought of this:

But, all kidding aside.  I seriously think you should look into a mixing program called TechnoEjay.  I used to do mixes with that program on my old Windows XP machine back in the day (it was version 4 then).
There is a new version available for download here:

http://download.cnet.com/Techno-eJay/3000-2170_4-10891701.html#rateit

I have not tried version 5 yet. But it has plenty of basic samples to use. The old version was very easy to use, I imagine the newer version might be just as easy to use.

While it is not a super-professional uber fancy program I think it is great for starters such as yourself.

Both are awful, song-ruining remixes. Sorry. You're just no good at this.

Did you do anything more than apply distortion and up the tempo of that "Boom Boom Tschak" one?

I added in the song "one"
I dstorted it
Speed it up
Lowerd the bass
and autotuned it.

So you did exactly two more things than I said? Two doesn't qualify as "lots".

Also, since when autotune is any good? It's one of the reasons why popular music sucks so much today.
