To be fair that largely simulates the modern UK scene :P I can see how spinners not taking bits off would be frustrating though.

If the robots don't fall apart while facing spinners in the game, they won't in real life. The curse of Hardox armour it just never sods off. Oh it's brilliant when you use it yourself though!

If the robot KO's because of countless flips, then it will also happen in real life. Flipper do cause damage, unless your robot is built like a tank. Gives you more insentive to not got flipped though haha.

Hardox is good but not indestructible, I think the mod's made the armour maybe too strong if anything, assuming you're going for real life parallels...

chassis armour defeintly needs to be boosted, pretty much every replica i have fought has be ko'd before i got to knock off any parts other than wheels.
Exactly my thoughts earlier... We'll see what the next update brings tho.

Just want to withdraw this part of my thoughts.

Bad News: I thought this would be the thing that would get me back into RA2 but sadly I think I've grown out of it. Nothing to do with you guys but that's how I feel.

I am addicted to this game now. It is absolutely fantastic. While it won't get me back into building, it has increased my interest in Robot Combat again. Playing through this along with Metal Gear Solid 5 (Still) and Project X Zone.

For a mod of a game that is over 10 years old it plays quite well.
The only downside is the outdated physics engine but that's not the team's fault.

So at a glance:

+Nostalgic
+Smooth Gameplay for a mod based on an over 10 year old game.
+Stays true to both RA2 and RW.
+Can see the love put into it. Something that's quite rare in media these days.
+God load of reps and arenas.
+Menu and Sound Design.
+It's free.

-Outdated physics engine.
-Game needs to get noticed more on big gaming websites, not only RW main site.

Overall: 38/40

Happy for you guys. I mean it.

Unless the mod team prefers to have it hosted elsewhere, I wouldn't mind adding a download link to GTM.

IIRC the reason they didn't host it on GTM is that the file's so big that the file host couldn't handle it.

There should be some guides around here for doing AIing of robots, including changing the AI line to match, getting the controls set right, and putting the robot file in the teams folder in the right place.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

Yeah, I also hate this. I had to use F10 before I added the action cam. Also, HB, I experienced no frame rate issues with the action cam whatsoever.

The mod it's very cool! I like the arenas and the fact that they have music, my favourites are the series 1 arenas and the Northen tour.

As far as components, I really like the mega adaptor! I can just put the batteries and other stuff that normally you can only put inside the chassis anywhere else, so you can see them when you're playing. Polycarb robots get added coolness with this!
The other component that I really like is the bulkhead, when I saw that I had to make a flipper with that!


I don't understand why the weapons are made by a tooth with the visible blade and the other tooth with the invisible blade. Couldn't you have made two visible halves or only one component with the collision being a bar? Because this happens:

The visible part gets knocked off but the bot still has the invisible part, or the bot gets unbalanced when the invisible part comes off, but the disc still looks intact.
Same for the flippers.
 
As some other sayed, hypno disc does too much damage, and if you let the disc go to full speed and turn quikly, the disc gets unstable and the robot flips:


Some of the cameras in the arenas can be a bit too close to see where you are going, best example is the scrapyard arena's default camera. And the default camera in the series 7 arena should be the pod! :rage

Other than this problems, the feel of robot wars is there and the amount of robots there is incredible!

No, but is nice to have the view of the roboteers :) I usually switch to that. You don't actually need to change that, I can change it myself if I want.

If you put the Robot Wars arena from DSL into Stock, you get a Craig Charles view which is basically the same.
