Balance is used as a term to indicate the, well, balance of efficiency. To make every component as useful as each other, they are all balanced to be as such, taking weight, DP, frequency, normals etc into consideration.
Physical hitbox as you put it is a whole different matter, and would require some more in-depth work in the actual model of the component, and I'm not 100% sure if 123 would do that considering his understandable lack of interest in RA2. I've never actually come across this issue, either.

Daw, I know that, I'm a gamer too :> I was just confused between its two possible meanings.

I notice even light/dark extenders havok when they come off bots (one's actually visible in the previous vid, snapped off of House Of Stars). I don't have this problem in DSL, only Ironforge. What could be causing this, they're both using the same Robot Arena 2.exe... I suppose if it's an issue not experienced by most people, it could be a problem with my Ironforge installation?

Anything can havok, really. You just have to deal with it, unless it does get updated, which I highly doubt.

Every mod of RA2 uses the same .exe because we can't mod it. I've really never experienced either issues so it could be your PC. RA2 plays differently for different people a lot of the time. Try some of the other 'graphics options' (they don't do a lot really but sometimes they help some issues) to see if you get less issues.

Also yeah I don't really play games (including RA2 at this stage) so balance in that context is something I don't use a lot.

Craaig had a few qualms about them motor belts passing through the wheels. How about this one?
IRL it'd be done with 4 more gears in the middle.
Is it tournament-legal? :D

Unfortunately not, we tend to treat each component as a solid item, not generally going for 'it'd be realistic if-' because it just opens so many cans of worms.

That setup would probably cause a lot of friction on the belts and make then snap off or lock up more easily in real life.
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

Have you tried putting the weapon motors in front of the front wheel motors?  Or possibly just upping the back motors and making it 2wd?

You could also try putting the wedge in the front, underneath the spinners, to allow you to scoop up and then grind away at opponents.

Of course, disregard this if it turns out that I don't know what I'm talking about.

Frontmost weapon motors, I've tried, works well, but I would've really liked to make my wheelbase as long as possible
But 2-wheel-only bots, I've yet to try. So I'll try that now.

Thrackerzod, your words haven't been in vain (OvO)-b

Behold, the bird! Its smaller size and 2-wheel drive has been helpful with handling!
Oh, and it's Steel 10!

This weapon system orients the spikes such that their tips will slash into the target!

I think you're overkill on the batteries there.  1 spin motor only takes 10 amps, so you can get by with only 2 blacks.  Steel 10 might be overkill also.  If you get rid of some batteries and down the armor a bit, you'll be able to get some more weapons on (though, admittedly, I don't know how exactly you might attach them), which might make it better.

Do the spikes actually work?  I thought they had normals.  I'm a fan of knives, personally, but I donno if they'd be any better.

Lookin' pretty good, though!  Glad the 2 wheel drive is working out for ya.

EDIT: Oh, you edited your post while I was typing that.  New design still has battery overkill, but good jorb on reducing chassis weight.  I'd either load up on more weapons, or try to slim it to a MW, depending on how much weight you save by getting rid of the excess batteries.

I am learning much from my tutelage here. Power feels gooood

I know they have normals; what I did was make sure their normals hit. I've basically made a small sawblade with a big enough radius. For the weapons to work, they have to spin inwards, because of the way I placed the spikes.

(Following: At time of writing, Youtube doesn't seem to be able to process my AVIs. Couldn't even play the one I sent to GTM's media section.
Maybe try the bot for yourself! ('v')-b )

:popcorn my first time hitting 500k in 3 min.
; however, the extender work built to adapt the spikes weighed it down (and the pole spikes are 2kg heavier as well), resulting in a lower DPS.

Alright, I tested it out.  Forgive me for doubting the ability of the spikes.

The design is looking better now you're putting more weaponry on it. Just to let you know, the regular Ironforge AI is not competitive and designed to be fairly easy - I believe RedAces new ReForged will be more challenging so feel free to try your designs against that. I'd imagine you'll end up feeling the bot is too heavily armoured with still not quite enough weaponry, but I'd be interested to see if you could get the weight down to a MW as Thrackerzod suggests.

Middleweight/Heavyweight Dual Bot

Aluminum 10 and Plastic 1
The former, being more balanced in its weight distribution, can steer faster; the latter has better saws, but with severe understeer.

All-rounder and Glass Cannon respectively!

Congratulations on getting it down to a MW!

You have 4 spin motors (10 amps each), so you should be good with only 2 black batteries (20 amps each).  Since you don't need 3 batteries, you could shorten up that back tail part.  Donno what to do about steering issues, though.

slim drive motors and small wheels are a lot faster than RCs + thick wheels and only slightly heavier, by the way

I honestly think insanely beefy weapon motors with few weapons are weaker than weaker motors + more teeth in ironforge. I doubt you need weapon motors that heavy and your weapons are going to fall of very fast. 8 small iron spikes on a MW is very low. but thracker is right as well, you only need 2 batteries with that setup. if you really want more juice just put in 2 carbatts + 1 duracell. I'd personally go 1 carbatt + 2 energizers. You don't need to outlast your opponents if you kill them faster.
I'm still very skeptical on using iron spikes on a spinner anyway. I know theoretically the spikes hit the opponent, but RA2 is very wonky with that kind of thing sometimes. I'm almost certain a blade with larger surface area is still better.

How shall I use the remaining kilograms... Or shall I simply leave them be for agility?
AI cannot utilize agility, so no. More weapons/armor > less weapons/armor

its not a bad design but it seems very fragile. I'd add more weapons + armor if I were you, and probably go with the drive setup I mentioned above.

your designs may be all the same but you are refining it into something that looks good, is better build and most likely deadlier. good job !
