Hey guys! Well after months of DSL building, I discovered Ironforge and am loving it! While I am still getting to grips with it, I have managed to build a robot capable of putting up a decent fight against most any of the heavyweight AI robots. So, after two failures of robots, here is Reaper Evolution!

The armour is 10mm Steel, the strongest available.

Note that the weight includes 250 kg of red Ballasts, 200 kg of which is free of course. So this is effectively 593.1 kg , making it a SHW, not an UHW.

Any suggestions for improvements? It seems to work well enough for most fights and runs pretty fast, but even with 250 kg of ballasts and a flipper on the back end, the robot is not stable enough for the wedge / flipper to be particularly useful, so robots that need to be flipped to be beaten reliably - such as shell spinners and tribar spinners - are a pain to fight. I don't want to edit the robot too heavily, I just want the back wedge stabilized and running flush to the ground.

nice first bot! I can tell you've been lurking a bit, you seem to be aware of ironforge weightclasses and the like. I'm assuming you're not going for an IRL approach and are trying for a more efficient robot (standard).

what's the armor? chassis armor is more important in ironforge because it's stronger compared to DSL or stock.
there aren't actually any SHWs in the pack as of yet though so you're at an advantage fighting them :P

you might possibly be a bit low on amps, i calculate 60 amps needed and you only have 50 in the batteries. This probably isn't too big of a deal because I doubt the beta gets used too much (it's a srimech right?) and burst motors are the main amp drain. Other than that it should be fine.

I bet you that a lot of your instability comes from your drive. I'm not entirely sure if you need dual firebirds on a VS. It's your call.

I am a bit worried potentially about that exposed weapon motor though. It's not really anything your fault, it's just inherent with VS (vertical spinners) of this type that use a dual-axle motor. Hopefully the crushing teeth will make up for this, they have beast HP compared to many weapons. I do think it may be a little low for a SHW though. I don't have much of a point of reference because there's no SHWs in ironforge yet, but I'm just guessing. The chassis is also very large which isn't necessarily bad, but it makes it very easy to hit in this case. I'm glad you put armor on, I'd probably put even more if I were you. Durability is even more important in ironforge than in DSL and stock imo.

There are some MW ironforge tournaments potentially coming up, it'd be great if you want to compete.

Thank you for the help! :) The armour is Steel 10mm, the strongest available armour, I'll put that in the OP. The flipper is primarily a srimech, yes, although it can flip opponents in a pinch. Thanks for pointing out the low amperage, I'll add in a 10-amp battery since I can fit it in the weight limit.

Actually I'm not a lurker, I'm completely new to this place and Ironforge in particular - I only know the weight classes because of the loading screen haha.

I use the firebirds for pushing power, as with less powerful motors I tend to get pinned against a wall and counted out a fair bit (happens a lot with my lightweights) and besides, I can use my wedge to push other robots around easily if my vertical spinner gets destroyed. I do get your point though, excess power could be an issue.

I am tempted to post my newer robots, do you know if I should post them below, or edit them into the OP? Which would be best?

Okay, here goes my first Ultra Heavy Weight!

Behold Shredder X! Virtually unstoppable outside of a freak Havok explosion, yet to be beaten in its current incarnation (though I've only used it against AI so far...)

The asymmetrical vertical spinner is hugely effective, powered by the Perm 80 motor. On one side is a combination of T-shaped beater bars, triple cutting teeth and side-on 30mm crushing teeth, while on the other side are four 40mm crushing teeth. All on two sets of three-layer angled plates for additional protection for the motor powering it. It spins upwards, of course.

You might notice the huge amount of armour plating I have added to the outside (and also used for the srimech), in the form of a dark extender stack + dark armour plate combo. I love the aesthetic it gives, and it is rather sturdy armour too - out of the AI bots, only the HW Shell has managed to break through any significant portion of it.

It's also surprisingly fast, agile and powerful at pushing, especially considering its weight and the fact it runs only on 2 blackbirds.

It's taken a lot of work to get this robot just the way I want it, but I'm finally happy enough with it to post it. Now to relax before finishing my family of MW + HW + UHW robots.

you could be constructive instead of being a douche. i'm new to ironforge, as i have already pointed out.,of course my building is a bit messy. i'm not going for realism here and i'm not experienced enough to make them look perfect.

He's being fair. Your weapon is a bit of a mess - I would recommend using just 1 type of weapon, and not having crushing teeth mounted sideways as they won't cause damage like that. You could potentially think about reducing your betas down to just 1 and making the srimech more discrete, with maybe a flip up panel over the top.

Anyway, here is... The Avatar!

"100 years passed and I discovered the new Avatar, a... robot. The only robot capable of using all four weapon elements. He's hard to use and poor in battle, but I believe the Avatar can save the world."

The wheels going through the chassis annoys me, but the only way I could avoid it would be using RC Motors which reduced the robot to a crawl when I tried it.

Obviously, this isn't meant to be realistic or anything, I just wanted to make a themed robot.

I dont see the point of thsi. 3/4 of the bot arent used at a time, side weapons are hard to use due to not being able to strafe (Dont add strafing motors, thats stupid tbh) and the hybrid has no synergy.

The point of it was to make a bot with an Avatar: The Last Airbender theme, not to make a good battler. :P

Anyway, I've edited Shredder X to a 1-motor srimech and a more standard VS weapon. Improved or naw? (Also, am I correct in thinking the dark side of the crushing teeth is the damaging side?)

Also, I can't think of a way of making the srimech any more discreet without it either a) going through the spinner when i use it, or b) completely changing the body shape. Any suggestions would be good.

The crushing teeth have the Silver top edge (opposite of attach point) and Dark edges do damage. This is called having normals. Naryar is also completely correct, remove the knives around the wedges. Also, UHW's are almost never built in Ironforge because you need a antiballast to attach any ballasts if you want them, and arent officially with a weight limit.
Though the two choices are 800kg or 2500kg (which is half off the Stock and DSL 5000kg).

I just battled and had trouble using my weapon because of the static blades obstructing, so I'll heed your advice and remove them. The rest of the robot is identical though so I won't bother psoting pics.

Also yeah, I thought with 600 kg being the SHW limit and 800 kg being the in-game limit, it would be UHW automatically. If that's incorrect, we should have a name for the 600.1 - 800 kg weight class.

Finally tried my hand at an IRL robot. Not sure if it truly classes as IRL, but I've made sure there are no intersecting moving parts, etc. It's not fantastic in battle due to the general lack of weaponry, but this was mainly practice for me in extender use. Still, fairly happy with how it turned out, although I did have a lot of annoyance with the Rule of 7...

Super Heavy Weight, mostly because it ended up going a lot bigger than originally intended. Ah well, it's all a learning experience.

Took a while to figure out a srimech that a) worked, b) I liked the look of, and c) didn't intersect with the body or weaponry.

Starting to get to grips with Ironforge now though, so I'm slowly improving.
