Okay so I'm new to this, and when I try turning a component using shift or ctrl it does nothing? I'm using vista, if that helps...

you hold shift or control, then move your mouse.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

Do you mean actually rotating the component or changing how it attaches (Atom smasher's snapper motors)?

Reier he precisely stated that he was using ctrl or shift => NOT selecting AP's.

Craaig, i may say the obvious and you might now that already, but here is what you must do to use shift and ctrl to rotate a component:

-Select component and attachment point.
-Hover it on your baseplate and use Ctrl/Shift BEFORE you attach it.
-Attach it.

If it doesn't works, your RA2 is probably messed up...

EDIT: I tried what Naryar said and its sorted. Cheers.
