Has anyone actually got the RA2 tech demo to work?

Curious. Want to see what it's like, but that weird problem where it loads but instantly exits before you see the 'main menu'

You have to set your comupter clock back to like 1999 (I forgot exactly, because it has been a long time...may be 2001)

Hmm.. tried 1999, 2000 and 2001. None of them worked.

Seems to be a stupid way to 'lock' a demo.

It's a tech demo. Probably for something like E3. Or it could of been.

I have no idea what actually goes on in the actual demo, but apparently it's a 3 way battle between a bot with lifting spikes, a bot called Fang (no idea what it's weapon is) and a Nightmare clone.

Or maybe it's 2 way with a bot select. No idea.

Also, the bots themselves seem to be made up of one GMF file with no external files for components, rather of BOT files with those external files..

Edit: Well, by pressing Enter reallyfast I got it to come up long enough & hear the music before it died, when I set the clock to '99.
I also noticed that when it's not selected, IE there's another window on top of it, it doesn't go away. Only if you click on it does it vaporize.

Eh, it seemed to last a moment longer when I changed the compatability mode to 98/me

I changed my date to 1/1/02 and it works

Confirmed.

For some reason I think the tech demo gameplay is better then the actual game. It's much more fast pace.

Or perhaps it's just fresh. Oh well.

edit: no it does not work with linux using wine(sadly). it gets to the main screen just like norm ra2 but you cant get anywhere further.

no... none of the controlls work. enter,f1 or even esc
edit: has anybody noticed that there is hecko.wav in the sounds folder? it is just someone saying "heckoo"

It came out between RA1 and RA2, just to keep us interested.
