Would you rather play BO on the Wii or 36O?

^Implying
    1) Black Ops was made for the Wii and wasn't a cheap port
    2) The majority of those who play Wii want to play Black Ops.

If people wanted to play COD, they'd buy a console which COD was made for. It's not fair to draw parallels there.
I bet a cheap 360/PS3 port of Red Steel or something similar wouldn't be half as good as the Wii version.

Got me on that one.

At least the 360 gets upgrades. The Wii has been the same since 2006.

Chaosmancer has it in the bag. Its all down to preference- like the opposite sex, clothes, food...Which means that this discussion has the potential to last forever, repeating the same old points over and over. How dull.

Quote contents removed as walls of text are long.
+1 from me if I could.

And please don't turn this into a discussion about war games...make a new thread about it or something instead of adding to this fairly useless thread. /endrant.

I feel now that the only real point against the Wii is the games.

So a big budget title is on the same level as a shovelware game?

Generally, yeah. All they care about these days is money, the big sales, doing things to death. Nowadays, you play one game, you've played all games of that genre. Exceptions being decent arcade ports like BlazBlue

This happens to be the stupidest thread in existence.

While most Wii games suck (mostly the ones made by Ubisoft and other third parties) there are some truly essential and great games on Wii. Okami, SMG, Metroid Prime Trilogy, LoZ: TP, Hydroventure, and World Of Goo, and in many ways is more mature than the PS3 for the majority of the games. The PS3 has kids games too.

In addition, the Wii can look amazing, sound amazing, and play amazing, all of which brilliantly demonstrated by the original Super Mario Galaxy, that looks much nicer than many games on PS3 and 360, simply because they use appropriate colors to make it look better. Games like Shadow Of The Colossus and Ratchet and Clank are visually great games on the PS3, simply because they aren't always some dirty brown colour, which seems beyond common games like CoD, Battlefield, and others. Add to that a greater variety of game styles and the Wii in many ways is better than the PS3.

Credit to the PS3 for games like LittleBigPlanet and Mass Effect 2, but the Wii is not crushed by its competitors, you just need to know where to look.

So a big budget title is on the same level as a shovelware game?
This is the only real argument left which I feel is legit; there are too many third party mini game fests on the Wii, which is an undeniable weakness.

Madman makes sense. Also, the Wii's processing power is inferior. It can't do as much.

I can't help feeling that's generalising it a bit TOO much. I agree with you on the Shooter and FPS genre, which is why I hate them so much, but there is quite a spread in other genres, I feel.

You confuse me. You keep making statements that could close the discussion/argument, then say something else that just riles it all up again (':

Okay then, subgenres. Even with my favourite TatRPGs, there' not much in the way of originality with plots

Plus, most games these days are FAR too easy, because they're made for the less experienced market to try and catch all audiences to make more money

The Wii may not have as many good games as the PS3, but they are generally games with more originality and identity than its competitors.

Plus, since when has processing power been used to its fullest on the PS3 or XBox? They tend to use a lot of the same colour, and that's never been a big problem, according to you. Galaxy, as I have said, can use its processing power to the maximum, and it shows in the game's overall quality and aesthetics.

Well, in my opinion, home consoles don't suck (that may be due to the fact that I enjoy playing multiplayer with my dad, plus the fact that there are a select few games that I do enjoy playing that can only be got for home consoles (Dark Souls, Xenoblade Chronicles)), but as I said, each has it's own pros and cons, and each of those pros and cons will have a greater/lesser effect based on who the person is (describing Dark Souls as a mercilessly difficult game will attract some people, and cause others to go away).

And Scourge, opinions, heck, even Hard Bot got the 'in my opinion' bit down, hence why I haven't been able to think up that many arguments agaist his points. Many people enjoy the games that are released these days. I am currently enjoying Dark Souls for PS3 (very difficult game, I enjoy the challenge), Gears for 360 (multiplayer with dad, the only reason he got it for me), and Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii (...it's a massive RPG that had an interesting looking battle system, plus I had heard about the various other game mechanics, and decided to get it).

But as this is just supposed to be about the Wii, there is a lot of family-orientated shovelware, Nintendo stuff, and ports either, but searching through the rubbish to find the gold is just like real life. There are many good games on the Wii (not just based on my opinion). Xenoblade Chronicles, Sin and Punishment 2, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, De Blob, Red Steel, No More Heroes, Pokemon, Boom Blox, Madworld, House of the Dead: Overkill, Monster Hunter Tri, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Crystal Bearers, the list goes on. To disregard a console because of the many bad games that have been released for it is kind of stupid really as you could be missing out on some great stuff (although I'm pretty sure you are disregarding it for the reason that you don't have enough time to start up a home console which is fair enough as time is a major factor in the purchasing of both games and consoles).

The RPG Genre can be an exception to 'Play one, played them all' due to the many different applications of RPG systems. Dark Souls, for example is an insanely difficult RPG, and different to many others that I have played. Turn Based Strategy games, FPS, and RTS have managed to implement RPG systems to make a game more unique (heck, even a football game managed it (Inazuma Eleven)).
Yes that sequence of words I just said made perfect sense.
