On its own, I'd agree with you, there. With the necessary upgrades in MvM however, it's fantastic for decimating things like Tanks, Giants and whole Crowds of robots- almost like a Machine Gun that fires Rockets.
Of course, it takes a bit of practice to use this way, but once you've got it, you can pretty much stop Waves single-handedly.

You do realise that the rocket launcher gets those upgrades too, right? It will have more rockets in the clip, and you can control where each and every one of them goes rather than praying none of them miss. And this wont happen-

See that's why I play Medic, Kritzkreig + Ubersaw + Blutsauger. W/ Uber Canteen and share canteen upgrade. Done!
Possibly Kritz canteen if you're facing 2 tanks at once or a metric buttload of enemies

You know I still have about as much skill as an average F2P? Well I got my first hat yesterday (that's not the Gibus or Proof of Purchase). IIRC it's called the Cosa Nostra Cap...
