Here, Matilda is preparing to pit a severely damaged Major Damage, after completely destroying it. (the robot from Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction, NOT the real one from Roaming Robots/Robot Wars)

This thread brings back some good memories.  Game was  a good deal of fun while waiting for RA2 to come out. I think I have 2 unopened copies laying around somewhere.

Just found out that you DON'T have to repack the game archive (lumpy.dat) to get started modding! You just need to extract/unpack everything, place it in the game directory, and then proceed to delete the lumpy.dat & lumpy.idx

Just for fun... had a battle I made up myself by modifying the simple robot_list.txt file inside of the game directory, inside the "robots" folder. I edited the .txt file and wrote instead of all the robots available in the game, to "plunder". This activates ONLY Plunderbird 5 in the game!

Instead of uploading gifs, convert the video files you record to webms via gfycat.com. Much smaller filesize and higher quality.

Acknowledged. It won't happen again

EDIT (2016-06-01): I will continue to use Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 to make my gifs, but I suppose I can reduce the file size to almost nothing.

Sergeant Bash's front jaw is now operational as a second weapon, instead of the saw at the back.

You can see it in my House Robots Introduction, from Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction @ YouTube

Nice one. Does this mean that you could disable all the fictional robots and just leave the replicas?

Sure can! Just make a robots.txt file, BUT it NEEDS to be in the game directory/folder, and in a sub-folder called "robots", without the quotation marks, of course ;)

Cool. Is there a way to disable the geysers in the arena?

Hmm... that's a more complex one, I guess... but now, in Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction there are no functioning geysers, so you must mean Robot Wars Extreme Destruction, right?

Oh! I nearly forgot! In Robot Wars Arenas of Destruciton, you'll NEED to move the lumpy.dat and lumpy.idx to somewhere else, otherwise the game will read them first and skip your edited files!

EDIT: You WILL need to extract the entire lumpy.dat to somewhere on your hard drive and then move the contents of that folder back to the game's directory/folder.

Cool - so if you run over the jets with those settings, does your robot still go flying?
