With all thanks to QuickBMS, I successfully enabled the house robots in Arenas of Destruction. Here, playing as Dead Metal and Matilda and fooling around in the arena :P
-
holy tish is that mr clean in the top left
-
There is a image uploader built into the fourm. You don't have to attach photos.
-
Sweet! Is trhere any way to share this with other people?
-
Sure, the lumpy.dat file, I can upload it here, and then make a backup of it, and put this lumpy.dat in there. NOTE: You HAVE to reimport the game archive (lumpy.dat) to get it to work, it does NOT work by just placing the edited files in the game folder. Also, the lumpy.dat file is quite big, but it is possible for me to upload it somewhere where possible, SkyDrive (soon called OneDrive) would work :)
-
Or maybe I could rip out the .rob files, when selling the house robots in-game, and upload the encoded .rob files to my SkyDrive No Problem at all
-
Dead Metal and Shunt in the arena, waiting for the contestants...
-
Cool man. Great work.

Sir Killalot and Dead Metal ominously looks on, as the battle goes...

Proves how lethal Dead Metal is, the pictures speaks for themselves:

How do you put the files back into lumpy.dat?
-
How do you put the files back into lumpy.dat?
Using QuickBMS. You HAVE to reimport the house robots .rob files. Changing the "houserobot" value from 1 to 0, then you can buy them in the Robot Workshop. Oh, and the .rob files NEEDS to be in a folder called "robots" without the quotation marks, of course. I'm open for help

Poor old The Axe Master... totally wrecked by Sir Killalot

Could you upload your RWAOD to this thread please. it would be a hell of a lot easier.
-
Sure! Here are the encoded (unreadable) files of the house robots. :)
-
Here, I modified the rwarenat.are to place my fully controllable Sir Killalot and Matilda in the CPZ ^^

Here, Matilda is preparing to pit a severely damaged Major Damage, after completely destroying it. (the robot from Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction, NOT the real one from Roaming Robots/Robot Wars)

Nice work!
This thread brings back some good memories. Game was a good deal of fun while waiting for RA2 to come out. I think I have 2 unopened copies laying around somewhere.

The AI isn't always at the best of it's ability in this game

Holy hell that necrobump
I wish this game came out on the xbox, I was stuck with Extreme Destruction as a kid, which is a worse game IMO
-
Just found out that you DON'T have to repack the game archive (lumpy.dat) to get started modding! You just need to extract/unpack everything, place it in the game directory, and then proceed to delete the lumpy.dat & lumpy.idx

Just for fun... had a battle I made up myself by modifying the simple robot_list.txt file inside of the game directory, inside the "robots" folder. I edited the .txt file and wrote instead of all the robots available in the game, to "plunder". This activates ONLY Plunderbird 5 in the game!

Cool work man, I like it

Instead of uploading gifs, convert the video files you record to webms via gfycat.com. Much smaller filesize and higher quality.

Acknowledged. It won't happen again
EDIT (2016-06-01): I will continue to use Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 to make my gifs, but I suppose I can reduce the file size to almost nothing.

Sergeant Bash's front jaw is now operational as a second weapon, instead of the saw at the back.
You can see it in my House Robots Introduction, from Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction @ YouTube

Nice one. Does this mean that you could disable all the fictional robots and just leave the replicas?

Sure can! Just make a robots.txt file, BUT it NEEDS to be in the game directory/folder, and in a sub-folder called "robots", without the quotation marks, of course ;)
-
Cool. Is there a way to disable the geysers in the arena?
-
Cool. Is there a way to disable the geysers in the arena?
Hmm... that's a more complex one, I guess... but now, in Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction there are no functioning geysers, so you must mean Robot Wars Extreme Destruction, right?
-
Yes. They're a bit overdone.
-
Yes. They're a bit overdone.
Oh! I nearly forgot! In Robot Wars Arenas of Destruciton, you'll NEED to move the lumpy.dat and lumpy.idx to somewhere else, otherwise the game will read them first and skip your edited files!
EDIT: You WILL need to extract the entire lumpy.dat to somewhere on your hard drive and then move the contents of that folder back to the game's directory/folder.

Example battle in Robot Wars Extreme Destruction:

Cool - so if you run over the jets with those settings, does your robot still go flying?

And here... Dead Metal's pincers are closing and opening quicker, allowing him to grasp his opponents MUCH faster

Had some more fun, customizing the game Robot Wars Extreme Destruction, making it a little more... let's just call it "realistic". That's at least what I would call it.

Thats actually great, I remember Hypno pretty useless in that game.

Well, not anymore. It's quite devastating, if you know how to modify the damage in the game.

Brilliant work. Is there a way to make the House Robots less aggressive - make the CPZs appear smaller to the game so they don't rush out as much, or slow them down so they can't end up in the centre on the arena so quickly?

Surely fully possible. All I would need to do is figure out how to "shrink" the corner patrol zones... may not be that difficult... but I'll look into it when I get the time :)
