You must not have known "the method". Save immediately before a legendary battle. If you kill it, turn off your handheld and try it again.

I used it on Zapdos, I think. I had to catch Mewtwo with Ultraballs. Took forever!

As a stat inducer ? There are much less fragile pokémon that can handle that. Like Slowbro, which has also a far better typing defensively.

Unless you are being sarcastic, which is not exactly easy to detect on the web.

Well, I'm restarting my randomized emerald nuzlocke-like. I don't like the rules I set to myself.

NEW RULES

-Pokémon must not be used in any way if they have been KO'd once, and must be stored in a box and not given out.
-Only MANLY pokémon or pokémon that evolve into something MANLY will be used for the first team.
-A total party KO means you lose the game and cannot continue
-No use of healing items. Healing items include status removers, PP heal items, HP heal items, and revives.
-No savescumming

This rule is sorta' biased.
My definition of a "manly Pokemon" is much different from yours.

Started with a porygon. Well it has interesting moves apart from the ubiquitous tackle.

Not the manliest pokémon ever. Hmmm...

First wild pokémon met used perish song, and then successfully put to sleep my porygon. I just ran away.

Nooo ! My porygon lost to a level 2 golem !!

Now I restarted. Got the choice between blastoise and growlithe, I took growlithe because I prefer Fire-types. And Arcanine is a total badass.
