Second thread on this, i know, but still that game is really too awesome. There's MASSIVE variety, and you can do awesome things like throwing ogres to the ground with a single-handed nose grab, flood the world with magma/water, make skyscrapers, or build a whole castle out of soap, without it melting in the rain.

If the full-ASCII graphics really are too old for your taste, there's some graphic packs out there. I'm using this one : http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/df.php

Beware, there is some videogame cruelty potential right here. Do not attempt to play if you are especially sensible.

I have it, tried to play it, but I couldn't tell if I was doing well or not. I don't know if that's a problem for anyone else, but it makes it harder to play, not knowing whether you're screwing up.

Adventure mode is awesome, just got killed by an ancient vampire. (Playing a mod version.)

New fort, Dig deeper mod.

Planning to make 2 massive towers which I can destroy easily to keep the population down and the jobs high. Fun!!!

If they aren't already built you should make them have a hollow core so you can drop prisoners from the top and make them splash at the bottom.

I've began seperating the fortress into 3 areas. Slums, business, Higher rooms.

Slums contain TONS of beeds and engravings. Most dwarves live there.

Business Contains all of the Shops and stuff. Has an arena too.

Higher is all the fancy rooms for my Nobles and sh**. I leak lava through there to keep the pop down. (It trickles through the tower...)

I just got pissed this morning because one of my champion-level sparring wrestlers choked to death (and choked through iron full plate armor) his elite-level sparring partner.

And the bastard "had joy in slaughter lately"

Other thing that pisses me off are PEASANTS becoming mayors because they do nothing and talk to people :P (Unemployment is rather high)
