I don't know if it's common to talk about arcade machines here, but does anyone besides me play this a lot? For those who don't know, the only informations you really need is it's a Midway boat racing game from 1999 that throws realism to the four winds by making the boats cruise at 250 MPH and have
rocket boosters.
So, anyone else play this?

I saw it in an arcade. Pretty popular in there.

HECK YEAH
I played this game in an arcade a long time ago, and I liked it so much that I got it for the Nintendo 64 when it came out. By far the most detailed, shortcut-riddled, fantastically themed tracks of any racing game I've played. You can't go wrong with racing an alien speedboat through a flooded New York City after a meteor impact!
The Nile Adventure track was the coolest though. I've never seen such a LONG race--it's only a straight line (no laps) but it takes longer to race than any other regular course in the game. And it keeps changing so it never gets old.
Of course, the spot-on control scheme helped too. It was just plain fun driving your boat on rough seas, and of course the requisite waterfall dive...
Now I feel kind of like firing up the ol' N64.
My only complaint about the game was how short it is. It was incredibly fun, but didn't have much depth since it was ported from an arcade.

Glad you liked it, Click! I never could beat Nile Adventure though. I have Midway Arcade Treasures 3, which has this game and Rush 2049 (There are more, but I never play them) which means unfortunately the spot-on control scheme isn't really there, but otherwise it's good emulation. 2-player lags like
though.
Personally, I like Ship Graveyard the best. That track really has an ominous atmosphere, from the hundreds of crashed planes and boats to the police boat which chases you through some of the track.
Did you know there's a sequel out now? It's called H2Overdrive, and came out this summer, but I haven't seen any cabinets in my area.

Really? I haven't heard about H2Overdrive. Sadly I'm almost never near arcades anymore... all my video games are played at home. I wonder if the sequel is as good as Hydro Thunder.
Rush 2049 was another awesome game. I had that for the N64 too. Did you know, that game was the inspiration for the Stunt Arena in DSL? I used to spend hours in stunt mode, trying to get those gold coins. And the multiplayer battle mode rocked too--I spend at least as much time battling as racing or doing stunts.
Did you ever find the secret stunt room in one of the race tracks? I forgot which one it was in, but you went in a parking ramp, and there was this huge room full of ramps and half pipes and whatnot, and a few coins too.
And the Obstacle Course was one of the greatest challenges I've encountered in gaming. Took me a good many tries to get through that one without crashing.
Good times, good times...

Rush 2049 <3
I remember I used to play that game on every ferry ride going to my grandparents house. On one of the boats arcades, I held one of the top times for about three months. I think that they got rid of the machines now... if I can find one, I'd love to buy it. Rush 2049 was the greatest...
Tekken was good too, but only on the huge arcade machines. The console ones just weren't the same.
House of Dead was another good one. I was awful at it, but it was fun. There's nothin' like shooting chainsaw-wielding zombie butchers! :D
Good times indeed...

<3333333333333333333333333333 Rush 2049
Aside from never being able to get the stunt coins, that game is perfect. I'm glad people still play it. I *think* the DSL Stunt Arena is mostly from Warehouse, but I'm not sure. I think the really great thing about Rush 2049 is that there's a lot of exploration for a racing game. It's not like F-Zero where you just go really fast around the course, in Rush you have to find shortcuts. I really liked the Mission track for this reason, there's about twelve different paths you can take. The arcade version is even more mad, I hear.
Click: The secret stunt arena is in the second track (I think it's called Haight), you go backwards from the start line, turn to the left, and go into a tunnel. There's a quarter loop in there, you have to stop halfway through it, and go into a little tunnel on the left. And there you have you have more boosters in one area than anywhere else.
R0B0: Get Midway Arcade Treasures 3. It has Rush The Rock, Rush 2049, and Hydro Thunder, along with some other games I don't play. Unless you're actually looking for a full size arcade machine, in which case I wish you luck.
I wish they would make a sequel to this game (Rush 2050?) but no, they want to make crappy Need for Speed Underground clones.

Tournament Edition. There are only a few machines, and they're all ironically located in San Fransisco.

Midway Arcade Treasures 3... I'll keep an eye out for it.
And yeah, I did mean the arcade machine xD There's one for sale right now on
http://www.the-station-online.com
, but I don't have $2,500 US, plus shipping, duty, taxes, etc. that I can spare at the moment...
They also have a House of Dead machine there too, but that's even more expensive X.X
*sigh* One day...

I remember playing this game when I was a kid, this is great. I still find Venice Canals to be the hardest track in the game.
