The Wii System is to blame. I think they KNEW developers were going to be hindered by the motion sensing controls. They screwed up. They need to add OPTIONS for regular controls and motion sensing. Another thing to blame is lack of good hardware. We are in the Twenty First Century... everyone is using accelerometers, gyroscopes, and bluetooth fore controls (Even before the iPhone 4) and they went with INFRARED, if you look at a EM Radiation scale you will see that Infrared is a long wave... those are the EASIEST to block. That is why TV's are so devastatingly bad. Infrared Sensors are pushing twenty years old. The OG Wii should have been what the Wii U is sans the peripherals. Then on the side add in Motion Sensing gaming and Tablet Gaming. The real losers here are the developers.
Do you ever get tired of being wrong? The Wiimotes use bluetooth to connect to the Wii. What you see on the tip of the Wiimote is an infrared camera. It looks for two infrared lights and triangulates its position. Its used for the "pointer" function of the remote. (Fun fact: the included sensor bar is entirely optional. Want a cheap wireless solution? Place two candles near your TV.)

Most of the motion detection is handled by the built in accelerometers and gyroscopes. With the Motion+ controller/add-on, more gyros were added, offering more precision.

Oh, and the Wii U is compatible with the Wii accessories. That means regular controls are an option.
Destroy your lives, on purpose!

Apparently Battlefield 3 will have a Team Death Match mode. They did say that there won't be any jets in it. :(

I just hope that they don't remove vehicles from it completely, if they do, it's just becoming more like Call of S**tty: Modern Retardedness 3.

I really hate the current trend of color pallets consisting only of brown, gunmetal, and lens flare. Video games are a visual medium. Excite my eyes with some color!

this is gonna sound weird, but i have a hard time actually seeing things in modern games. what they call "good graphics" is just indiscernible slurring of earth-tones and lens flare.

Very true. What I consider good graphics and what they call "good graphics" are two different things entirely. To me, it has to be visually stimulating. A game along the lines of Katamari Damacy is visually stimulating to the point that it's almost too much. A game like Call of Duty, on the other hand, is so bland and uninteresting graphically that I just put it down and walk away.

I agree with this. One thing I always enjoyed with the casual games it that they generally are more colourful, and even some of the harder ones like Metroid Prime 2 also can be pretty nice at times (well, maybe only in the Sanctuary Fortress).

Hate to DP, but:
Did the original Wii have any good games BESIDES these?

Mario Kart Wii
SSBB
Mario Galaxy
Mario Galaxy 2
Donkey Kong Country Returns
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Metroid Prime 3
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Okami (okay, not an exclusive, shoot me)
Super Paper Mario (not my favorite but it was pretty fun)
Goldeneye ('tis good)
Monster Hunter Tri
These are all some of the finest games ever made.
Then you have all the compatible Gamecube games, so you can have all the hardcore gaming you want as you get absolutely annihilated in Ikaruga.

First party Nintendo titles are generally colorful as well. That doesn't mean the bland "mature" trend doesn't exist and isn't annoying.
