It's a 2D space combat simulator, and awesome.

OK the graphics aren't that great, but it's a freeware and you can build your own spaceships (RA2 in space, anyone?) with only parts (building your hull/chassis with different parts and adding weapons then), plus you have skirmishes or a (short) single player campaign.

I used to play this until I found out all the moderators on the forum were abusive a**holes who squash creativity, swear a lot, and ban people who disagree with them.

HOWEVER, it's a very good game, and I think they're working on a full-scale retail version. I'd buy that the moment it comes out!

I'm a member of that forum they are quite different than the people here. They like creativity, but aesthetics comes before efficiency, whereas on this forum people don't mind about an ugly bot, as long as it beats the crap out of all the other bots.

This is my custom ship Pillar of Fire (destroyer class, basically a MW) one-shot-killing an Arcas battleship (HW and one of the best).

2 flak cannons for point defense and SEVEN shockbeamers modded for the beam to last longer. Fragile and slow, it can be easily destroyed by a patrol craft like a Zelus (LW)... as long as you can evade it's main weapon.

Nice little ship you have there, I dont know why but I usually build massive ships wich have more than enough of everything on them.

My StarDestroyer used to have just one of those purple/pink lasers modded so that it looks like its a closing laser gate when its firing, but i accidetly removed it, so it now has 4 unmodded ones.

A match beetween 2 of these takes about 5-10minutes, thanks to the defense field casters on the back area (the 12 balls that are in groups of 6). And one of these is enough to take care of Leviathan, if i remember correctly.

And here is a bunch of other ships that I found in my game folder:

Time for a FAMILY PORTRAIT.

Skirmisher: Pretty new, nothing to see here.

Flash: Scout. Fast. VERY fast.

Rumble: Long range large scale bomber - pretty nice in groups.

Weeper: Very short range bomber. Although devastating, takes forever to reload.

Troublemaker: Classic dogfighter.

Dreadweaver: Long range attack frigate - 5 pulsars does pretty sweet effects.

Merciless: Defensive frigate. It can stop a lot of fire (9 flak guns!) and can repair, but not that great otherwise.

Chaos Spawn: An experiment with a buttload of particle guns and quad blasters put in one point. Chaos Star lookalike - but nothing impressive in combat.

Stormrider: Assault frigate. Tougher than the Pillar of Fire, but doesn't makes as much damage even with 6 railguns.

Battlecry: Support frigate. A much slower Repair Ship but tougher and has actual defenses.

Swarmer: Drone frigate. I don't like much drones. Just an experiment. (These small circles with dots at the center are combat drones launchers) and not really tested.

PoF: Heavy artillery frigate. My all time favorite.

Firestorm: Another assault frigate. One of my first builds - strong attack, weak defense, average speed.

ZOMG: Heavy dreadnought. Weapon platform. One of my favorites. It's not as tough as an average dreadnought, but faster.

Heavy Barge: Supposed to be a heavy freighter. Modding the central turret construction facility (builds temporary static turrets) resulted in a fail that makes him producing defensive turrets so quickly than he has a TRAIL of turrets.

Science Dept.: Well, a scientific research ship adapted to combat. Very few offensive capabilities but plenty of specials and goodies, including a short range teleporter, two tractor beams and three EMP guns, that makes it really fun to play (fling asteroids right at your enemies using the tractor beam) if you don't mind about low damage.

Frenzy: Offensive battlecruiser. A bigger Firestorm and a good mix of offense, defense and mobility. Also has shields. Faster than the other heavy ships.

Overlord: Defensive battlecruiser. Sloooooow and clumsy, but good defensive capabilites and... DON'T get too close, because all these front weapons do major damage.

I don't have a whole lot built right now.
(Upper-left -> lower-right)

Delta-Beta: First ship. Pretty fast, but has weak offensive & defensive capabilities.

BETA: Repair ship. Ok speed & weapons for a repair ship. Has a Nano matrix.

Gamma raider: Battleship, very strong armor, decent weaponry, & a Nano matrix. One of my faves.

X-wing: Starwars, anyone? Unfortunatly, when I made it, it was facing the wrong way, so it only flies backwards. XP

Zion: A fairly slow & weakly armored patrol ship. But it has 2 Shockbeams, making it very destructive.

Stinger: Same as Zion, just looks differenter.

Shrapnel: Weak, slow, but has 8 shockbeams! (Not modified after PoF)

Optomitrist: 2nd ship. In retrospect, it's ugly & slow, but has decent armor & weaps.

Delta Flagship: Not finished yet, But it does look cool. It will have a lot of special features.

U.S.S. Enterprise: Cap'n Kirk's personal starcruiser. Has a bunch of rail guns & shockbeams. Also has a bunch O shield generator thingies like SSG's Star destroyer.

That's what they like.

Made those things 2 years ago.

The one without weapons uses Kamakazi AI, and is filled with components.

The large one has Modded cannons.

AWESOME WAR, GO!

Empty hull right now, haven't put weapons on it yet. This is MY largest serious ship. Reier's is still cool though.

The Enterprise is back!

More movie-accurate this time, the shields are a nice blue color like the movies, and it has a huge phaser cannon skicking out the front! (Shown firing in the pic) It is really just a beamer I modified to really do a lot of damage.

Has some goodies, like 4 Lancet beams, a Flux generator, and a Deterling device.

C33, after yours is done, will you be willing to send me your dreadnought? I'll send you mine, and we can fight them against each other on our individual computers.
