There's a good learning curve to using Pyro, but it's a far more rewarding class once you get the hang of certain manouvers, like using the compression blast (Right-click) to send projectiles back to opponents and minesweep Stickybomb traps, circlestrafing to avoid enemy fire and get behind opponents, utilising the art of ambushing to wreak havoc, and whipping out the Axtinguisher to finish almost anyone in a single blow. With a little practise, any Pyro can become an awesome close-to-mid-range assassin. If you like, I'll give you a little tutoring.

Spies are supposed to fight that way, GF93. They would get destroyed if they played by your definition of "properly" fighting.
